I think its wrong to put khalsa at the end no offence any one but Guroo Gobind Singh JI told us Singh or Kaur and thats it, not even Guroo Gobind Singh Ji had Khalsa in his name .

we should never use caste names as our surnames. Some ppl are proud of their caste. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji says the following:

jaat kaa garab na karee-ahu ko-ee.

barahm binday so baraahman ho-ee. ||1||

No one should be proud of his social class and status.

He alone is a Brahmin, who knows God. ||1||

jaat kaa garab na kar moorakh gavaaraa.

is garab tay chaleh bahut vikaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Do not be proud of your social class and status, you ignorant fool!

So much sin and corruption comes from this pride. ||1||Pause||

hmmmm i shoulod take the mann out of my name, but what about simranjit singh mann, he is a good sikh and still uses last name mann, as dis many good singhs,many people usetheir pind as their last name.....anyways yeah i agree we should all use singh, but only amritdharis because they are the only ones who shed their castes and become sikhs of the Guru by taking Guru's roop and become guru roop guru khalsa ji.

Well i believe it is not right to quote from the Uk Nihang websites though i can say that lots of times they mention Guru Sahib as Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa...

even sant je said that his pen name was khalsa. One idea is that there are many singhs surnames even before khalsa panth, and still hindus have name singh after them, from the rajputs, and khalsa lets people know that we are the sons of guru gobinds singh je singhs, not the hindu surname ones. I dunno

hmmm...

Well, lets define Khalsa, the term khalsa has been coming on with Guru Nanak Dev ji's times. Khalsa means pure, even a chinese man, withi no background of sikhi, etc. could be a Khalsa. Its a family, or a class of people with certain ideals, beleifs, etc.

To have the surname of Khalsa, means you belong to a family, a brotherhood of Khalsa's. Since there were soooo many castes, and distinctions in society about who's higher or who's lower, Guru sahib made the KHALSA equal. This is not a caste, but a distinction away from the caste system.

We have to understand Guru sahib's message completely, before jumping to conclusions. Guru sahib the Khalsa, to be a separate entity, that's why wherever you go, you see a singh/kaur, you can classify them as a KHALSA.

Obviously we use Singh/Kaur as male first or last names. But the term KHALSA, is totally different. ITS SUPPOSE TO BE YOUR FAMILY SURNAME, Singh/Kaur is to separate from male/female. BUT KHALSA IS TO BOND BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER INTO ONE FAMILY OF KHALSA.
