When I saw the ad's for this exhibition at first I thought WOW!! that will be good, and on the face of it it seems like an excellent attempt at bringing out historical facts, pictures and artefacts that we may have not seen before. But then as I made myself more familiar with the website the organisers of this exhibition came to light - Nang Niddar Singh and his crew! http://gt1588.eventbrite.com/ Without seeing the exhibition I cannot comment on the contents, and they may be genuine, but it seems as though the drive behind this is to invite people to the exhibtion and then using the books, literature and talks to plant thier mis-interpreted, brahmin infiltrated ideolgy…

Is the Indian Cricket star batsmen Virat Kohli Sikh? Ive heard alot of Hindus trying to make out that Virat is a Hindu. But from his last name and the fact he wears a Kara seems like he is infact Sikh and not Hindu.

wjkk wjkf. Bacially I have the option of learning one of the following martial arts: Jeet kune Do, Wing Chun or Eagle Claw Kung Fu... I was trying to weigh up which is best out of these and would probably be the most effective in real life situation on the street? If the sangat practices any of these or has any idea what I should go for, then please let me know. Thanks.

Well I have seen alot of guys believing absolute myths about Pakistan... So , as probably the only person on this forum with Pakistani Muslim background , I would like to say few things... First thing Sikhs should understand is this ... Pakistan is the most "pro-Sikh" state in whole South Asia .... Sikhs in Pakistan have full rights..they work as doctors , policemen , engineers , pharmacists , technicians , politicians , singers , and even as Army officers ! The Islamic Republic of Pakistan treats Sikhs with outmost respect... Comparison between India and Pakistan when it comes to Sikhs : There are few things I'd like to point-out... Read and decide it for yoursel…

Guru Nanak Dev ji refers to Brahma, Gorakh and mother Parbhati as Gurus. I have noticed all the bashing of Hindu dieties on here, can anyone explain this part of Jap Ji to me. One Singh told me it means they were Gurus not Gods but what about 'Har harijan ekh he,' that God and his follower are one and the same. Also dont we sometimes refer to Guru Nanak as avtar. Is there any difference between God and Guru? Before everyone starts slating me I am just trying to gain some knowledge. I am not pro Hindu or anti Sikh, just want some sensible replies from sangat with gian. Thanks

Gurfateh Old Soldiers As the famous line from an old army ballad says "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away." - here is a collection of some of my favourite military images. Most military images are very stiff and formal, staged photographs in regimental formations - my personal favourites are the informal shots which show the day to day life of a soldier. This is perhaps one of my favourite images, from perhaps the late 19th century , it shows a Sikh soldier in 'Civvies' - off duty - but still wearing his regimental Pagri Badge (a chakar and Bhagauti). He wears a large tall dastar - the 10 yard army 'safa'. It shows how his beard is tied very clearly - tied…

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but does anyone have any images of Shiva or other Indic Gods with beards ? I have been looking for images with beards - is there any reason or tradition as to why most are depicted without beards ? Most images of Shiva follow this pattern ; This shows a Trident with Shiva as 'Ardhanari' - half man half woman (A bronze from the Chola period 1000-1100 (South India)) *From the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio. The only image I have been able to find is this Bronze Mask of Lord Shiva , discovered during the reign of M. Ranjit Singh by General Court at Peshawar in 1834. It dates from the 5th century and is n…

Normally I don't read Panjabi papers but I found this at the Gurdwara today. This Pardes Weekly article seems to suggest some serious misdoings at the Southall Singh Sabha Gurdwara involving massive sums of money. What to make of it?
