  1. No, I would say that Ravi Singh KA is a hundred times worse than the Hindu Mahasabha guy because the biggest danger is always from traitor within. The one who has been gradually wearing away the shield of appropriate suspicion that our Panth has had towards towards the Muslims. That appropriate suspicion which saved generations of our people from becoming victims of the Muslims. One can just imagine if the Sikhs of previous generation had the same slavish attitude that Ravi Singh KA has to the Muslims what the results of that would have been. The 1947 generation would have trusted the Muslim league and we would be in a worst situation than we are in now. All of Punjab east and west would have been in Pakistan and the Muslims through demographics would have reduced us to a small minority and all our lands would have been confiscated and our condition would have been worse than the Christians in Pakistan. Ravi Singh KA with his liberalism has made us open to the fake solidarity that Muslims show us in order to advance their own religion at the cost of ours. This is Ravi Singh KA's greatest crime, he is like the traitor who opens the gates of a besieged city. As for Ravi Ranjan Singh, he is a threat but a smart community would use him rather than be used by him. He is promoting Jhatka and opposing Halal. This is exactly the position that all Sikhs should support but I bet Ravi Singh KA is probably against that as well because he is essentially a dhimmi. The total opposite of the Khalsa that Guru Gobind Singh envisioned.

  3. Makes no difference if the culture around wearing the kirpan doesn't even insist on its use in these threatening situations. It's become a symbol more than anything practical, not that the young Singh was baptised and would therefore be wearing one.

Even if you were in the train business ..the tunnel? Gotta be better ways. That's a one way tunnel. You take your train in the wrong way you're liable to <banned word filter activated> some <banned word filter activated> up.

  6. I am writing about Ravi Singh of Khalsa Aid, He has given a call on twitter for more Gurdwaras to offer themselves for holding Namaz. The other Ravi Ranjan Singh appears to either a Hindu convert to Sikhi or someone who comes from a mixed Hindu Sikh family. I think he is a Bihari and was a litigant in the Ram Mandir case. He is also leading an organisation called the Jhatka committee aimed at fighting the dominance of Halal meat in India and promoting Jhatka in its place. So he is pretty shady in some aspects but positive in others. Now compare the two Ravis, someone born a Sikh and who gives out many statements about the way Sikhs have been treated by India and who is being projected as the greatest Sikh of the 21st century and who should be awarded the Nobel prize and the other is someone possibly born a Hindu, associated with the Hindu Mahasabha and thus probably someone who believes that Sikhs are Hindus. Now which one would you think would be someone who would be defending the Rehat Maryada? Ravi Singh of Khalsa Aid or Ravi Ranjan Singh of Hindu Mahasabha? The guess on face value and the true answer shows just what is wrong in our people at the moment. Ravi Singh of Khalsa Aid is quite happy to go against the Rehat Maryada and allow Namaz in our Gurdwaras, rather than just keep quiet when the Gurdwara Pardhan faced flak for his initial announcement offering the Gurdwara for Namaz, Ravi Singh KA is actually encouraging Gurdwaras to go against the Rehat Maryada! He may have a Khula Dharha but I doubt he has even read the Rehat Maryana or even has much knowledge of Gurbani, his charity is just a business he has set up to advance his liberal agenda.

  7. Having a centralized team, or smaller localized teams, behind the scenes verifying accounts and corresponding directly would really set this service apart. Perhaps a prototype could be launched using this site by creating a matrimonial section? Have anonymous postings with a verification vichola that connects the matches? Just brainstorming.

The teenager was found suffering fatal knife wounds in Raleigh Road on Wednesday evening. He is the 28th teenager to be killed on the streets of London this year, one away from a peak of 29 teen homicides in 2008. Friends believe Ashmeet was stabbed over a fake Gucci pouch he always wore. Evening Standard “His friends are all saying he was stabbed over this Gucci bag, it wasn’t even real. It’s terrible. The 14-year-old, described as an “angel” by his parents, self-presented at hospital with stab wounds but died a short time later. Friends revealed that Ashmeet did part-time jobs to care for his disabled mother, who lives above a shop close to where her son was killed. Daljit Singh said: “He was a very good friend. It’s so sad. “He was caring for his mother, he worked very hard doing part time jobs...what he could. He was always doing shopping for her. He was very good to her. “She was crying outside this morning. All over a Gucci bag that’s not worth anything.” A picture was shared to social media showing Ashmeet wearing the Gucci pouch / Evening Standard

You could see it wasn't going to end well for him at about 20 seconds in, typical security guards though, either failed or ex-coppers (not saying all of them are as dumb as two short planks), god forbid they ever use diplomacy. Uncle in the front was getting a little flustered though, especially when the security guard brushed up against his dastaar.

  21. I'm painting a very broad picture, which is why I included that anecdote about Sikh women who transform their husband's lives after marriage, effectively putting their husbands on the straight and narrow. It's very rare but I know of a couple of instances where it's happened. Granted, a hardened criminal from a messed up background isn't going to reform his ways and see the light just because his new Punjaban missus gives him grief, BUT guys who are less along the road of self-destruction, and a tad more amenable to compromise, have been known to buck up their ideas at the behest of their women.

  22. A woman or man shouldn’t marry someone who’s religiousness is too much or too little for them to deal with. A proper Nihang Singh wouldn’t really be compatible with a regular Dil Saaf party girl.

  23. don't know if I can agree totally with the female bashing here , I have known many bibian who were more devout than their men and their attitude and bhagti lead to Guru ji opening up their mens eyes to sikhi and amrit jeevan. The problem is now bibian can choose to remove themselves from destructive unsikh households (frankly what the H did the parents do , by not making sure it was a good household??) because the previous stigma of divorce is considered much less and sufferable than not being able to live their life in a sikh way.

  25. Adapt is the more accurate term. Change is vague and could mean anything. And you're looking at it from the wrong perspective, almost as if marriage is a transformative experience for all parties. I gave you one particular example that perhaps no longer applies to the current generations of Sikhs.

  29. Many great responses above ^^ It is in waheguru jees hand whether the marriage will prosper or fail. Compatibility between two is also depends on how they think of each other and outside influence does not have any play in it. How they grew from age 1 to 20+ is the time that will decide rest of their life course. Does jewish community has something like this as they are also scattered around the globe? In this age, we should have a system which is managed 24/7 by a team of professionals rather than just money making scheme or uploading a dating script and let it run. I like it to be non-profit with strong privacy controls ; like visitors cannot see the image unless they register. Registration will go thru vetting process by professionals manually reaching out to them etc etc. Inactive/dormant profiles gets deleted etc. I am willing to donate my money for such project but i believe that such project requires a strong team with same type of thinking. What do you guys think?

  34. I do not want to derail the good comments above or get off topic. But I feel like lots of Sikhs are wrongfully thinking that fashion and makeup is okay so I will address my thoughts on it. Yes it's important to have a good mind. Man saaf. But do you realize how hard that is? It's easier to control actions. And actions show the thoughts behind it. So if you wear makeup and fashion, what thoughts are behind these actions? Vanity, pride, arrogance, desire, illusion and that we can fix or even beautify what God has created. Tell me why should one waste time and wear makeup? To look better? Why look better? To get more opportunities so people will think good of you? Is that not vanity etc To become more confident? Why is your self esteem in looks? Does that seem like this person had a pure mind? It shows that you judge yourself and others on outer fleeting looks. That's a weakness and not a pure mind.. Having a pure mind means. Neither happiness nor sadness will sway you. You realize everything is In God's will and God's will is always good. You have no desires nor hopes. Nothing can cause fear in you, not even death. And the pure mind is decorated with beauty and jewels of good qualities like humility, forgiveness, authenticity, living in God's will etc. I do not think any one I know has a pure mind. Only people who are so good that they are known as saints. Also about the tenth guru dressing richly, gurbani says don't copy the guru but do as he says. Which means taking Amrit as that is what the tenth guru wanted. And when you take amrit, you will be told no makeup and limit fashion.

  35. sikh said we have no problem with muslims coming to do namaz in gurdwara muslims also said we have no problem to do namaz there (despite the reporter pointing out there are mosques nearby) however when muslims were asked would it be ok for sikhs to come to masjid and do their prayers they said our religion doesn't allow that when it came to eating langar or prashad at the gurdwara ,the muslims actually said that would be haram for them to eat it , given that it is made of nonharam veg and dal and grains they are talking out of their As as there no restriction quran wise. so there you have it halaal to pray on site of Guru ji's darbar namaz and haram to eat anything there (which is not what old school punjabi muslims believe or say) , halaal to approach other dharams daughters but haram to allow own daughters to have friends who are nonmuslim.

  37. In this is for the past few years now, not just now..... On social media for the past few years or so I am seeing girls showing off most of their latta (legs) and shatti (chest) areas in their photos, on places such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp cover photos etc. These girls seem to be also controlling social media groups for university sikh societies, quite big societies as well, not going to name any unis. But serious, this is quite shocking. I don't even think that some of these societies have simran or paat or discussion sessions, just activities to go out (such as paintballing which seems to be popular every year) and call down speakers from BoS to do talks now and then etc. I remember a decade ago some sikh societies were improving with discussions etc. So what is going on? Would never have nangi jai girls managing the sikh socities in the past, are we going downhill that much???? You see the Singhs in these societies and they have respectful pics wearing paghs, and these days many are wearing dumalla, and dressed like a decent person. Seems to be some inequality when sikh society management has girls still stuck in such slave mentality when it comes to dressing, or lack of??? where is the sharam, what kind of example does this give to other sikh students? are the modern sikh youngster Singhs afraid of the women? seriously what is this..... ???

  38. I wonder how do the singhni students at universities feel about the adi-nanghis having so much part in running these sikh societies? I guess those slave-mentality girls don't dress like that when they come sikh society events, but they don't mind putting these pics in whatsapp profile pics, and instagram , facebook etc? The thing is, at unis they re no longer kids/children, they are adults and yet still carry this mentality of not dressing properly!

  41. What I meant was it's a shame if he is. Wikipedia entries: He is the son of Jaspal Singh Dhesi, who runs a construction company in the UK, and who is the former president of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, in Gravesend, the largest Gurdwara in the UK. Dhesi has a bachelor's degree in mathematics with management studies from University College London, studied applied statistics at Keble College, Oxford, and has a Master of Philosophy in the history and politics of South Asia from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.[1] This seems really good, especially the MPhil he has South east Asia history. But then the next paragraph is so dodgy. In 2012, his mother, Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi, was jailed in India, for kidnap and forcing an abortion on a teenage mother, who later died.[4][5] I did some research regarding this, and this is regarding the girl involved with the ex SGPC president Jagir Kaur (was it her daughter or daughter in law). So with the Dad being involved in Gurdwara committee, the Mum being involved in nefarious activity with an SGPC President - and the son is active in politics. As sikhs, I am sure we have learnt to be careful of all politicians including SGPC, Gurdwara committees and government.

  47. One important issue that I must mention is that we must never succumb to hate and irrationality, otherwise there's simply no winning any argument. Base all conversations on rational and sensible methods of discussion. Nobody takes you seriously if you're frothing at the mouth, no matter perfectly correct you may be. Combatting untruth is as much as the image being presented to those that need to be convinced, than the substance of the argument itself. It's an invariably laborious and protracted way of dealing with an issue that more often than not inflames passions, but don't leave yourself open to accusations of foolishness or simple mindedness. That's the world we live in unfortunately, whereby image outweighs truth. If you can manage to marry the two in an effective package, that's the best way to do it.

  48. If you're on Twitter, drop a polite yet firm message. You can use some of what I wrote in that post I made last night on this very subject. Just don't give her an opportunity to play the victim by insulting her or getting personal. On a related note: is this a sign that the post-war Sant-influenced, pacifist parchaar of the past 50 years has failed us? Is this where such selective interpretations of Sikhi has landed us; that we're afraid of speaking up against an evil ideology for the fear of being seen to be discriminatory?
