  1. Priceless, Divine Diamonds - XIII Sriman Sant Isher Singh Ji Maharaj Rara Sahib Wale 72. My life pilgrimage, has become fruitful, fruitful, fruitful Attraction and repulsion (Rãg Dvaish), and desires (Khãhishãt) are the signs of Bondage. A spiritual person who has renounced all worldly desires and the likes and dislikes, has realised his true Self. Such a liberated (Jīvan Mukt) person is free from karmic punishments like Rãj Danḍ, Yam Danḍ, Pitr Danḍ, Shãstar Danḍ, etc. He exists in an absolute desire-free state, and enjoys the uncomparable bliss of liberation, eventually achieving Moksha at the end of his/her Prãrbadha (pre-ordained actions in a given life). Such a person does not enter the cycle of death and rebirth again. In this way, he/she is able to successfully complete his journey as a human. ਸਫਲ ਸਫਲ ਭਈ ਸਫਲ ਜਾਤ੍ਰਾ ॥ Safal safal bẖa▫ī safal jāṯrā. My Yatra, my life pilgrimage, has become fruitful, fruitful, fruitful. (Sri Ang 687, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj) Distractions in the path of Knowledge 1. Attachment to one's family 2. Love with the world 3. Laziness 4. Worldly shame The qualified recipient (Adhikãrī) that can destroy these four distractions with the power of profound contemplation (Vīchãr) can easily obtain the spiritual bliss of pragmatic spiritual Knowledge. - Otherwise The whole life gets wasted in these four distractions, and no spiritual bliss can ever be obtained. 73. Guru ਮਃ ੧ ॥ Mėhlā 1. First Mehl: ਕੁੰਭੇ ਬਧਾ ਜਲੁ ਰਹੈ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੁੰਭੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ Kumbẖe baḏẖā jal rahai jal bin kumbẖ na ho▫e. Without the Shabad, there is only darkness within. ਨ ਵਸਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥ Na vasaṯ lahai na cẖūkai ferā. Shalok, Second Mehl: ਗੁਰੁ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਪਾਹੂ ਨਿਵਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਕੋਠਾ ਤਨੁ ਛਤਿ ॥ Gur kunjī pāhū nival man koṯẖā ṯan cẖẖaṯ. The key of the Guru opens the lock of attachment, in the house of the mind, under the roof of the body. Nānak gur bin man kā ṯāk na ugẖ▫ṛai avar na kunjī hath. ||1|| O Nanak, without the Guru, the door of the mind cannot be opened. No one else holds the key in hand. ||1|| (Sri Ang 1237, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj) 74. Essence of Vedãnta 1. Establishment in the Absolute (Brahm Neṣṭha) — Without the Absolute Brahm nothing ever was, is, or ever will be. The entire integrated cosmos (Samaṣti), the tangible and the intangible, the minute and macro, the manifestations of the five elements — everything is just that One Truth-Consiouness-Bliss (SatChittAnanda), modification-free Absolute. 2. Vision of the Absolute (Brahm Driṣtī) — When everything is that One Truth-Consiouness-Bliss (SatChittAnanda), then only the perception of the Absolute should be enforced within oneself. 3. Contemplation of the Absolute (Brahm Chintan) — Contemplate only on the One Absolute, which will ultimately results in the attention becoming absolutely free from all modifications. Nirvikalpa Samãdhī Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj describe the characteristics of a Brahm Gyãni thus: ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥ Man sācẖā mukẖ sācẖā so▫e. The True One is on his mind, and the True One is upon his lips. ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਪੇਖੈ ਏਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ Avar na pekẖai ekas bin ko▫e. He sees only the One. ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਲਛਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ Nānak ih lacẖẖaṇ barahm gi▫ānī ho▫e. ||1|| O Nanak, these are the qualities of the God-conscious being. ||1|| (Sri Ang 272, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj) That is, a person with Brahm Neṣṭha, Brahm Driṣṭī and Brahm Chintan = liberated while living (Jīvan Mukt) 75. Liberation while living 1. Pure Knowledge (Tat Gyãn) - Without the Absolute, nothing ever was, is, or ever will be. It is Truth-Consiousness-Bliss (SatChittAnanda) and totally free from all sorts of modifications. 2. Nature of destructive Desires - There should be an absolute cessation of worldly desires of all kinds in the mind. 3. Mind is composed of nothing but desires; where there are no desires, the mind is naught. When an apt recipient (Adhikãrī) practices the above methods incessantly, a modification-free state (Avasthã) of mind is easily obtained. With Pure Knowledge, mind is destroyed, and when mind ceases to exist, the modification-free state (Nirvikalpa Avasthã) is achieved. Knowledge of the Self is the final and ultimate state of existence. ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਨਾਹਿ ਜਿਹਿ ਕੰਚਨ ਲੋਹ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥ Usṯaṯ ninḏi▫ā nāhi jihi kancẖan loh samān. 2. http://www.sikhchic.com/article-detail.php?cat=33&id=3956 Straight Talk: An Open Letter to The Citizens of New Delhi, IndiaT. SHER SINGH My heart bleeds over the brutalities suffered by Jyoti Pandey and her friend, and the suffering that their families are going through. I also feel the pain of the women in your city and of their families: the terror of having to negotiate the world every time you step out of your home to go to work or school, to step out in your neighbourhood, or to move from one to another to shop or visit or play or merely enjoy the amenities of life in a city. Your leaders, both political and religious, have already played their cards. They’re not about to let you change anything around you, because if they did, they’d be the first ones to be locked behind bars. Your media has no interest in helping you change things for the better, because they represent corporate interests first and foremost. And those interests are now commingled with the interests of the political and religious hierarchy. Maintaining the status quo is seen to be best for them, even though it may not be for you. But, unfortunately, you have an even bigger elephant in the room. Nineteen Eighty-Four. Yes, yes, I know. You want us Sikhs to move on and stop harping on 1984. Well, we have moved on. We are forever in chardi kala -- it’s in our DNA. We have forgiven, though not forgotten. We’ll pursue the culprits as long as they are alive, but we will never be their victims. Don’t forget, for better or worse, your country is being led by a Sardar who has dragged you all, kicking and screaming, into the 20th century. [No, this is not a typo … you have another century to go before you can lay claim to the 21st, I’m afraid.] As I was saying, we’ve gotten over it. But you haven’t. You never will. 1984. You can deny it, ignore it, pretend it never happened, whatever … but it will follow you wherever you go. It will haunt you in your sleep. It will be your nightmare day and night. And it will sit on your head, monkey-like, on the heads of your children, and the children of your children … Why? Given the thousands of innocent men, women and children killed in your streets and our homes in 1984 -- in your city alone, without even getting into what happened in the villages, towns, cities, even moving trains, of your land -- and the thousands of women who were raped then, it requires no complicated arithmetic to figure out that a hundred thousand and more of your city were involved -- directly! -- in the rape, murder and mayhem. Remember the mobs, some in hundreds, some in thousands, that roamed the city for three days, unfettered, unchecked? Well, they are all alive, free still, never charged, never tried, never punished, and they live amongst you. They are your fathers, your brothers, your husbands, your sons, your lovers. A hundred thousand of them. One of your own religious leaders said the other day that your men need to have sex every 15 to 20 days, no matter where or how they get it. He must know his flock. That’s why, isn’t it, that a rape occurs every 20 minutes in your land? That’s the official figure! Three every hour, 36 every day, 252 every week, 1080 every month, 12,960 every year … give or take a few. Now, please keep in mind that these figures, being 'official', are but the tip of the iceberg. The terrible tragedy of December 16, 2012 will not change anything. Simply because those who are now raping you have nowhere else to go. You are the true inheritors of 1984. And your inheritance is that your children and the children of your children will hound you. And stalk each other. Because it is the law of nature. As revealed by Krishna, and by Jesus. By Mohammed, Buddha, Moses, Mahavir. And Nanak. As you sow, so shall you reap. That’s the law. And the law applies to individuals and it applies to communities, societies, and nations. In case you think I’m making this up, here are a few reminders. Pakistan was created through murder and mayhem. In the name of religion. Tens of millions of innocents suffered gravely because their leaders had no patience to try peaceful means. Today: their own mullahs murder them. Every day. The country is a pariah of the world. Israel. Walked roughshod over the lives of millions of innocent Palestinians, because it was able to buy the military might it needed to do it. To establish a state in the name of religion. Today: missiles of modern fire and brimstone rain on them at regular intervals with biblical fury. Almost seven decades later, and there’s no peace to be had. Even in sleep. Britain. And Europe. They raped and plundered the world for five centuries, each pretending to spread the word of God, but in reality pillaging the wealth of others and murdering their true owners. Today: they are surprised to see that people of all the lands they brutalized have arrived in their homelands. There are no ifs and buts. Britain’s demographics is changing to make way for a new majority. And it won’t be Anglo-Saxon. The rest of Europe is not far behind. The colonies are knocking on the gates. America. It has rained death on other nations, and has built its wealth on the corpses of countless children wherever they’ve gone to plunder. Today: they simply don’t know how to prevent their own children from murdering them in their own homes. Every day, new barricades have to be raised … to defend against themselves. A nation … at war with itself. There’s a reason why there’s no hope for peace on earth. Because we’ve all committed atrocities, we’ve outdone each other. What you sow is what you reap. So, remember 1984, as you lock yourselves up in your homes in New Delhi and get accustomed to moving around in human convoys. I was at a party the other day. My hosts were Indian. And so were all the other guests. I was the only Sikh-Canadian. At one point, emboldened by liquor and the fact that he saw I was alone in a sea of desis, one of them cleared his throat and, in a raised voice, confronted me: “So, Sher Singh ji,” he said, in feigned politeness, ”where are all the Sikhs and their kirpans now when we need them again to protect our daughters in India? Where were the saviour Sardars when the girl was being raped on a bus in Delhi the other day?” He stood across the room, glowering at me, waiting for my response. The room turned quiet suddenly. They were all waiting for my answer. I stood there, facing him. Seconds ticked by. He stared at me. Others stared at me. I stared at him. Finally, I said: “Where do you think the Sikhs of Delhi have gone, and why do you think they are unable to save your women?” I continued looking at him. Gradually, ever so gradually, his eyelids fell. He looked at the floor. His shoulders slumped. His head sank, as if he was checking the polish on his shoes. Quietly, ever so quietly, he shrugged his shoulders. Didn’t peep a word. Then slowly, ever so slowly, he turned around and staggered towards the bar. In a room of almost 40 people, I swear I have never heard a louder silence than I did that night. January 10, 2013

  3. Seniors in there last years of life, last week, last day, last second are dying, but the kaam inside of them is still alive and having a party. Their hair has fallen out, they can barely move a muscle, but kaam is still present in their system and has not slowed down. Have you seen all the babas in the malls, what do you think they are doing while sitting on the benches? Some practice yoga (breathing exercises, postures, mantras, etc) to get rid of it, but yoga has failed the devotee for since it was introduced. No one beat kaam by doing yoga. No one beat kaam by indulging in it. No one beat kaam by replacing it with another intoxicate and then reading Bani. No one beat kaam by avoiding it. No one beat kaam by ignoring it. One thing i love most about Taksal Gursikhs is that they tell you where to start. They grab your hand and guide the mind. What do you eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Does it have that taste good salt feeling, what about that little mouth burning feel or what about that sweet sugar taste? Think back to the time when your mom made that dal that had no spice or salt taste. Tell her to make you food like that from now on..........that pizza with soo much cheese, sauce and oil that excites the mind...................consider it poison from now on. Whatever soft drink you drink, stop drinking it and think................I love me some water, or juice right now. What sangat you are around, what you watch, what you listen to (including others speaking not just songs) all needs to be regulated. When two drinkers sit down one fills up boths cups and they throw it down, both are effected negatively.................when you sit in sangat one person pours (speaks) the filth in the other person ear and it goes into the person's mind and both are effected negatively. The best thing you can do is don't fight it, but sit down and start listening to Guru Sahib. You have an issue go tell it to Satguru. We tell Satguru about our issue by reading Gurbani and the Gurbani we read has the answer to our problem. Satguru will directly give you instructions on how to solve it. You don't need to ask anyone else. Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj has your answer. You can ask Satguru on any ang and Satguru will tell you the answer. And if you cannot hear the answer on the first ang then keep reading until you hear the answer. The deeper we dive into the ocean the clearer the answer we would be able to hear. Once you get the answer, then your tongue will start by itself repeating Vaheguru simran.

  4. Saadh Sangat jeeo. Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh! Daas has just glanced at an article in which a laywer, economist, social worker and feminist offer their ideas in regards to the solution of the problem of rape. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-20904028 The solutions offered include changes to the law and media. However nobody has mentioned the disease of the panj chor - 5 thieves - Kam (lust), Krodh (rage), Lobh (greed), Moh (attachment) and Ahankar (ego). Even the problems of law and media result from the panj chor. Unfortunately the laywers, politicians and journalists cannot identify the disease because the world has neglected the wisdom that is contained in sri Guru Granth Sahib and other major religions. It is the ethics, wisdom and spiritual lessons contained in the various religions that are needed to be revived and taught to bring a revolution. Also many have called for the system and government to be changed but this is not right. First we must start with ourselves. Let's reform ourselves first. It is not the duty of the school or government to teach us about character, respect, honesty e.t.c. surely this is responsibility of the parents and family. We should not pass on this responsibility to someone else or some other institution. Daas's opinion is that the weakening faith in Parmeshar, a higher presence that has contributed the epidemic of rape and other crimes. If we had the knowledge and faith that Akaal Purakh resides in every heart then we could never commit a crime. If Akaal Purakh resides in every heart and the entire universe then how could we ever cause harm to another? ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ Sabẖ mėh joṯ joṯ hai so▫e. The light of Parmatma (GOD) is residing in every being. ਤਿਸ ਦੈ ਚਾਨਣਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ Ŧis ḏai cẖānaṇ sabẖ mėh cẖānaṇ ho▫e. The light shines in every heart with the light of Parmatma. 5. Does anyone know if I can get a quality taus or dilruba from India for cheaper than raj musicals or any of the other popular exporters ? They charge 600 to 1200 usd which i believe is only because people buy them in dollars instead of in rupees.

  6. Ritualistic thinking all. Nothing is transferred whilst eating langar or indeed ingesting anything other than Amrit (and even then successful 'transfer' is dependent on a number of other factors). You may adopt such an approach as a general life rule to encourage yourself to do the 'right' things in life but at the risk of it becoming a ritual over time. Also if anything does contain any form of "blessings", quantity makes no difference. A teaspoon of karah prasad has the same "blessing" value as two large fistfulls, if one could indeed value a blessing (rhetorical question). "Blessings" are in quotation marks because what you receive is entirely dependent on your state of mind and the act of consuming it (plus the usuals- jeevan, hukam, karam etc), i.e. humbly accepting prasad at the feet of the Guru and believing it to be his blessing may have some effect but greedily consuming fistfuls and covering your hands and face with ghee may do nothing (it's all dependent on the Guru and God's grace and your jeevan, nothing is actually physically transferred from the prasad). Equally nothing "bad" is ever "transferred" in such a way. The Sakhi quoted has a moral story which needs to be understood, it's not to be taken literally that you can literally transfer a hundred pimples to someone else, it was the act of greed that was the moral story. God is the sole provider and we receive whatever he provides. It's not a specific act of consumption which needs to be 'paid for', it's in general throughout life whether one continually consumes more than they need and/or do no sewa, or on the other hand consumes only what they need, believing in Waheguru providing everything they will need and not hesitating in doing any form of selfless sewa. This fits in with eating langar sparingly, when required and not worrying about making sure you put extra money in golak every time you eat, or for that matter, not eating because you don't want to lose your so called simran "bank account balance". The moment you start billing and accounting individual acts of service and consumption, all your sewa/simran "balance" become worthless as the bigger message has completely gone past you. You are constantly reminded by Guru ji to think purely in terms of the bigger picture, the vices and virtues, the power of God, hukam, etc rather than ritualistic practices, but few listen and fewer apply it to their lives. PS. I generally don't eat Langar for other reasons and I am very grateful to the Guru and God for this great service that even I, a worthless greedy worm, have benefited from; when I really needed it, langar was there for me. There is nothing I can ever do to 'repay' Guru/God, his grace is priceless. ਦੇਦਾ ਦੇ ਲੈਦੇ ਥਕਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ The Great Giver keeps on giving, while those who receive grow weary of receiving. ਜੁਗਾ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਖਾਹੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥ Throughout the ages, consumers consume. ਵਾਰਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਵਾ ਏਕ ਵਾਰ ॥ I cannot even once be a sacrifice to You. ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਕਾਰ ॥ Whatever pleases You is the only good done, ਤੂ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੧੬॥ You, Eternal and Formless One! This thread should really be closed.

  8. Hello Everyone, So I have been recently married in to a family who are big believers of Baba Kashmira Singh. My mother - in - law is one of the hardcore believers among the entire family who is pushing me to say satnam every time we greet each other and to listen to Satsang. Prior to my wedding, she wanted to take my picture and show it to this person to approve for his son. My parents denied and they had to get over this because their son was illegal in the country and I was a US citizen. I have been brought up with believing in Guru Granth Sahib ji and I'm a big believer and go to the Gurdwara. I read Jap Ji Sahib and simran Waheguru Satnam constantly. Before marriage, they never brought up the fact that I was going to be pushed in to believing their belief. I had told my fiance who is now my husband that, I will never believe in a person who you consider hazoor in the way your family does. He was fine with it before and he is fine with it now. But his mother and sister think that I'm away from Gurbani because I don't listen to Satsang. Even after I have told her that I do path day and night and for me that is everything. I told her i can't drop wahegure from Satnam. If you want me to greet you, I will say both not just Satnam by itself. This family doesn't believe in going to the Gurdwara. They only go to Baba Kashmira's dera located in Jalandhar. It is now a constant struggle with the family because I'm always being pushed to their beliefs. They believe in Baba Kashmira as he is god. That his words are words of god which I am seriously disgusted by. They don't even consider calling him baba ji, instead they call him "hazoor". He tells his followers to only believe in Satnam becuase, waheguru is not written in Guru Granth Sahib anywhere and that Waheguru was written and given god's name by man itself. But what's ironic is that Rakhri is not part of our religion, but on the day of Rakhri, his followers go and tie rakhri on his wrist and among them of course are my in laws as well. Because they consider him their rakshak. It's like, if you're so prone to following god's word, then why have rakhri part of your preaching too. Please help on how to deal with this dilemma as I don't want to compromise with my beliefs that I have been brought up by. That is to preach to Guru Granth sahib only and to simran gurbani at all times. Thanks

  11. Not at all ! Your point is the comment that should be addressed everytime this foolish topic arises . Guru Nanak ji's important shabad that you quoted above tells us what fools we are to be arguing over meat ! Guru Nanak Ji also tells us- ਮੂਰਖ ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਇ ਝਗੜਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ Mūrakẖ gaṇaṯ gaṇā▫e jẖagṛā pā▫i▫ā. The fools try to account for their misdeeds, and argue uselessly Gurbani tells us straight about using your own God-given logic instead of debating, but still the fools continue to argue. It is ALL fuelled by HAUMAI.

  12. Very good point !! Only Fools wrangle over flesh ! Why sit there worrying about whether you have eaten meat by mistake ????? Better still, why debate and investigate to see if you committed sin in doing so ?? It's issues like this that put a split between sikhs and jathabandis. A mistake is a mistake,so why try and justify or prove to yourself that it's not that bad !! If you accidently cut a lock of loose hair while working with scissors or something, then does that mean that you are 'excommunicated' ?? OR that your amrit is broken and no longer valid ???? Cutting a lock of loose hair by mistake is much different to going to the hairdresser and walking out with short back and sides-by mistake !!!! THINK ABOUT IT- What qualifies as a genuine mistake ???????

The fools argue about flesh and meat, but they know nothing about meditation and spiritual wisdom. What is called meat, and what is called green vegetables? What leads to sin? It was the habit of the gods to kill the rhinoceros, and make a feast of the burnt offering. Those who renounce meat, and hold their noses when sitting near it, devour men at night. They practice hypocrisy, and make a show before other people, but they do not understand anything about meditation or spiritual wisdom. O Nanak, what can be said to the blind people? They cannot answer, or even understand what is said.

  14. My sister thanks for sharing your story with the sahd sangat... It is your duty as a strong Gursikh of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj to stay steadfast in your faith in the truth without creating conflict with your inlaws. I know that's easier said then done but only you know the personal situation you are in, so only you will know how to really deal with the situation at hand. This is a good opportunity for you to bring these people back to Maharaj's path of saach from the inside. May Waheguru's kirpa guide you and keep you in chardi kala

  16. try telling your mind that if this kaam doesn't stop then you won't get any more ann or swadh foods. from that point onwards, eat only raw fruits and veggies. in conjunction with steps from some of the above posts, it should help a huge deal. usually the food you ate yesterday or several hours ago will have a huge influence on kaam. so it may take a tiny bit of time to sort itself out. but change is the only reality in maya, so know that if kaam is there, it cannot remain.

  20. Which cultures are you referring to here when speaking about both? So a woman that is properly clothed (not hidden) is not empowered? It's funny you use the word hidden here, but I guess it goes along with your overly subjective term ornament when it comes to modesty. With no doubt hypersexualization parades women around like an ornament. But modesty does not work in the same way. When speaking about modesty women cloth themselves properly because they respect their body. If a male finds a properly clothed woman attractive, then the culture that endorses modesty has not clothed the women to stop male gazes. I'm put it in another way, not all males find the same thing attractive, hence making it impossible for a culture to endorse modesty on the basis of male gazes. Cultures do tell women to cover themselves to prevent males looking, but this does not mean the culture is endorsing modesty whatsoever. Clear example of this is the Muslims by covering the women up completely. Modesty is decency of dress, what decency is left when the woman is completely covered? So such cultures don't speak of modesty, but covering up so the women is unseen. I shouldn't say punjabi culture, but many punjabis be them Muslim, Hindus, or Sikhs teach their daugthers not to cover up, but be properly clothed, which shows modesty. Covering up doesn't represent modesty and neither does letting it all hang out. Modesty is something different.

  21. @ savinder pal singh ji, also don't worry about doing nitnem on time, as rehat in guru granth sahib ji also says gur satgur ka jo sikh akhave so bhalke uth har naam dhiave (so it means more important is you do simran early morning), fir chade diwas gurbani gawe ( then during day time do your nitnem), thats why its important to memorize all 5 bani's, its not difficult, moreover if you memorize those bani's you can do while you at work, and that will remind you always --dont say lie during day, don't do bad, doing bani'a path will help you become stronger from inside, utlimately in the end, its all your experience, if you do simran during amrit vela, you will experience things which can't be explained in words,

  22. I don't understand what the problem is ??? If you cannot get to bed until 12am, then do you still have to be at work for 8 or 9 am ?? Does this happen 7 days a week ?? I have worked 16 and 18 hour days for many years but still manage to get up at 4.30am the latest, to do nitnem. The ideal method is to have 8-9 hours of sleep by getting to sleep at 10pm and then rising at 2.30 to 3am and doing nitnem and simran, then having a few hours sleep between 5.30 to 7.30am. - I find that you feel completely refreshed with the little sleep after the nitnem !!

  23. To add onto what Neo Singh said, since I interact with both Sikhs and Hindus on a continuous basis (family, friends, co-workers, etc.), I have realized that there is one major and evident difference in both communities, and I am talking about the educated lot. The fact about present day modern Hindus is that even though they are proud of themselves, at the same time the sane ones among them also go a step further and regret a past filled with caste-based oppression. Some even admit the various incidents of deceit that were committed throughout their history, and have the will to ensure that this sort of mindset doesn't carry over to the future generations. Maybe this is why the first time I found out about the caste system was not at home, but in my social studies text book in school, somewhere in the 6th grade when I was 11 years old. So you can say that they are both proud and regretful about their past, depending on what is being discussed. Sikhs, on the other hand are immensely proud of their past without a single regret, and totally remorseful about the way things are going on with a lot of worry and concern about how the future looks like. Now this is just based on my own personal observation pertaining to the kind of community circles (both Sikh and Hindu) I have frequented, and I am sorry for saying this, but I have never come across a single Hindu all my life asking the question "tusi kee hunne ah?", i.e. referring to caste. Well, maybe I did, but the occurrence might just be so rare that I just can't remember. Or maybe its because Hindu surnames already carry a caste tag, so there is never any need to ask? However, the same question, sadly and unfortunately, is one of the first questions asked when you see most (if not all) Punjabi Sikhs beginning a communication. This cancer which we attribute to Hinduism is going down in their households as a result of education. However, it doesn't stop creeping into our domains irrespective of our academic achievements. The same goes for bravery. I am confident beyond doubt that no other qaum on this planet has had the kind or level of bravery as the Khalsa. No one comes close! But an unbiased study of Indian history does show that there were other communities before 1400 AD who did indeed fight bravely, perhaps not as bravely as the Khalsa may I add, which is why they lost. So bottom line, they were there, possibly before Sikhs, but just not as good as Sikhs. These are just my own observations and opinions, they are not the final words and perhaps someone else may have had a totally different experience. Apologies if they are offensive as I didn't intend to cause it, just expressing what I have come across.

  24. Your statement holds true for past- guru's time/misal time/baba bir singh ji and baba maharaj singh naurangbad era/sant jarnail singh bhindranwal era. But unfortunately, it does not apply now. I wish it did but it does not. In modern sikh era post 1984, we have demonize and villified hindus, on one hand we demonize and villify hindus, call them cowards, make fun of them etc and not give credit where its due -they do have bravery epic tales and brave warriors and on other hand- we expect them to become sikhs? really? Don't you think its bit counter productive?, its like we going to cuss your incompetencies/ at many times unjustifed, until you become sikhs..it will definitely naturally back fire. We gotta be unbias and give credit where its due. At my work, i feel very proud and humble when hindu co workers appreciate sikh martial spirit like swami ram dev did in his video of sri guru gobind singh ji maharaj saved bharat... I too in return the favor talk in diversity- talk about hindu bravery tales at the same time talk about ours, which further harmonize the relationship. If i were to say i know i know - all hindus are cowards, go put your tilak and run back to your mandir and do pooja lingam and your only ray of hope left for hindus - be mard is to become sikhs..i will come across as very very very arrogrant..arrogance has no place in sikhi. See the thing is, it has to come natural realization for hindus to become sikhs..we must not super impose and we must ensure we don't come as arrogrant. Now coming back to sikh modern era, its no secret we are hung on singing on glory of our past sikh ancestory and history- brave tales of our sikhs guru's and great sikh warriors not apply their saint-soldier attribute in our daily life...there is nothing wrong with singing glory as it invokes devotion and inspiration but one has to also apply those attributes in daily sikh life. We are loosing martial spirit/pehalvani spirit here even though we have amazing bir ras compositions in sri dasam granth, sri sarbloh granth to invoke bhakti-shakti. More more youths needs to have a right balance in life. Bhakti(Sant) and Shakti (Sipahi) are two pillars of khalsa dharam..!!!

  25. What you said is correct Gyan Parbodh according to western standards. However, what under pins both hypersexualization and modesty is simple spiritual sikh life and raj jog when its needed. Gurmat is all about striking a right balance. Gurmat is neither this right wing sharia type machoism nor it's left wing hippy liberalism. We are not sunni muslims who promotes certain dress code for women like burqa, niqab with sharia police dictating or enforcing it (not talking about dastar here- please don't take me wrong way) but at the same time we are NOT hippy liberals feminist which promotes- revealing, skimpy or tight clothing all in the justification of "empowerment of woman" Gurmat supports empowerment of women but *not* in a form of western feminism standards. Gurmat supports empowerment of women while upholding modesty dressing or simple satoguni life and rajoguni life style when its needed to adapt according to individual circumstances in personal life and besides khalsa has royalty aspect of it which cannot be ignored. Khalsa is raj rishiya da panth..!!! Prem sumarag granth is consider one of most progressive yet puratan granth when it comes to living your life socially. Every gristhi sikh and sikhs in general should read it in its totality. It talks about how sikh should live its life socially based on circumstances and adapt to circumstances -gunas- satoguni, rajoguni, even tamoguni diet(based on circumstances-nihang living in jungles etc).

  27. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-20907755 Have UK Sikh organisations contacted the media about the Rapes of Sikh women 1984 onwards? Gujarat gets mentioned , but the rapes of Sikhs do not. The rapes that India forgot There have been widespread protests in India since the 16 December gang rape Continue reading the main storyRape scandalCan India change? What's needed? How India treats women Women's tales from brutal Delhi Last month's brutal gang rape of a young woman in the Indian capital, Delhi, has caught public attention and caused worldwide outrage. But here, the BBC's Geeta Pandey in Delhi recalls other prominent cases which made the headlines, then faded from public memory. On most days, Indian newspapers report shocking new atrocities - a 10-month-old raped by a neighbour in Delhi; an 18-month-old raped and abandoned on the streets in Calcutta; a 14-year-old raped and murdered in a police station in Uttar Pradesh; a husband facilitating his own wife's gang rape in Howrah; a 65-year-old grandmother raped in Kharagpur. But in a country where a rape is reported every 21 minutes, even these most horrific of crimes soon get forgotten - except by the victims and their families. Continue reading the main story “Start Quote Just drafting a better law will not be enough, it's the society which has to change” End Quote Indira Jaisingh Additional solicitor general They are left to fight their long lonely battles for justice which, more often than not, is denied to them. Travesty of justice One of the most painful and lingering cases is that of the Mumbai nurse Aruna Shanbaug. Aruna Shanbaug was left brain dead by the attack and remains in a vegetative state Sodomised by a cleaner in the hospital where she worked, the 25-year-old was strangled with metal chains and left to die by her attacker, Sohanlal Bharta Walmiki, on 27 November 1973. She was saved and survives, but barely so. For the past 39 years she has been lying in a hospital bed in a vegetative state, brain dead, unable to recognise anyone, unable to speak, unable to perform even the most basic of tasks. "He was not even charged for raping her," says journalist and author Pinki Virani, who wrote Aruna's Story, a book on the nurse's plight. So Walmiki was given a light seven-year-sentence for robbery and attempted murder. In what can be described as a real travesty of justice, while a brain dead Aruna remains confined to a hospital room, her attacker roams free - out of jail and able to rebuild his life. Ms Virani told the BBC that she tried hard to track him down, but remained unsuccessful. "I was told that he had changed his name and was working as a ward boy in a Delhi hospital. The hospital where he had sodomised Aruna and left her in this permanent vegetative condition had never kept a photo of him on file. Neither did the court papers," she said. Aruna is not alone - her story is repeated with a frightening regularity across the length and breadth of the country. India shamed Violence against women is deeply entrenched in the feudal, patriarchal Indian society, where for the rapist, every woman is fair game. In 2003, the country was shamed when a 28-year-old Swiss diplomat was forced into her own car by two men in south Delhi's posh Siri Fort area and raped by one of them. The rapist, whom she described as being fluent in English, spoke to her about Switzerland and is believed to have even lectured her on Indian culture. Sonam, 14, (in orange) was raped and murdered in a police station In 2004 in Manipur, 32-year-old Manorama was taken away from home by the soldiers of Assam Rifles who accused her of helping insurgents. A few hours later, her mutilated body was found by the roadside, her pelvis riddled with dozens of bullets. Last year, 14-year-old Sonam was raped and killed inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh. During the 2002 riots in Gujarat, a number of Muslim women were gang-raped, and campaign groups routinely accuse the security forces in Indian-administered Kashmir and the troubled north-east of using rape as a weapon to punish the entire community. In May 2009, Indian-administered Kashmir witnessed 47 days of violent protests and strikes after two young women were raped and murdered, allegedly by police, in Shopian town. And in Chhattisgarh, Soni Sori has been in police custody since October 2011 when she was arrested on charges of being a courier for the Maoists. She has alleged in the Supreme Court that while in custody, she has been raped and stones have been shoved inside her <banned word filter activated>. Most of these victims are still waiting for justice, sometimes years after the crimes have been committed. The rapists sometimes escape with a light sentence because a judge accepts their argument that they committed the crime because they were drunk, or that they were living away from their family, or they had a family to look after, or that the accused was a high-caste man who could not rape a Dalit - low caste - woman. 'No magic formula' The Additional Solicitor General of India, Indira Jaisingh, says the current rape laws in the country are far from adequate and the "process of justice delivery is too slow and the rate of conviction too low". "We have to improve the crime investigation methodology, we have to make it more scientific and quick. In India a case takes so long to conclude that witnesses get dissipated, memory frays and conviction becomes tougher." She says many cases do not even get to court because there is a stigma attached to rape, and families would often discourage their daughters from complaining. A rape is reported every 21 minutes in India Ms Jaisingh says that just drafting a better law will not be enough, it is society which has to change. "There is no magic formula to deal with the problem of rape. There's a bias that operates in the mind of decision makers - stereotyping women, blaming the victim, trying to find out if she invited the rape." But every once in a while, an incident happens which ignites a spark. The first such incident in India occurred in 1972 when Mathura, a 16-year-old tribal girl, was raped by two policemen inside a police station. The courts set free the accused - they said she did not raise an alarm, she was not injured, and since she was sexually active, she would have "voluntarily" consented to sex. Howls of angry protests from activists led to the government amending the anti-rape law in 1983 to accommodate the provision that if a victim says that she did not consent to sex, the court will believe her. The outpouring of anger and grief after the recent Delhi incident has also given rise to hopes that things are about to change in India. The government has formed a committee under retired Supreme Court Justice JS Verma to take a fresh look at the anti-rape law. Justice Verma has invited suggestion from the public and his inbox is reported to be full of demands for the death penalty and chemical castration for rapists. Many are also calling for longer jail sentences of up to 30 years or even life in jail. But campaigners say laws alone may not be able to solve the problem in a society which treats its women as "second-class citizens" and regards them inferior to men. They say until social attitudes change and women are respected and treated as equals, the gains from the protests will be shortlived. More on This StoryRape scandalCan India change? What's needed? 29. it will not only happen today...the ''attack'' will happen for the rest of the days...you have to recognize whats going on, even then it might take ages to control your mind...what ever is happening is nothing wrong...what is wrong is the mind..the mind is like a ''maidaan'' or ran a battle field...kaam never dies but causes a rebirth...what is kaam ? what is happening is your energy your seema has reached a point it rises, but when it rises throughout your body and you have vibrations--your mind which has been fed dirty thoughts will take that think dirty thoughts and drain the seema energy out your body...it will happen day after day same thing nothing different...energy rising, then because of the minds dirty thoughts it is wasted....actually this energy is much much more..its not only energy,...its the buidling blocks of life...this energy the vibrations is much more than that also in a sense its naam rass, well it can be used for naam rass....waheguru is not only seen, bhagats have said we have seen waheguru (though waheguru is hard to describe) but we have also HEARD waheguru...there are acoustic energy bivrations that make of the 5th element 'air' after all space is made up of wahegurus light...the energy that atoms etc manifest into...waheguru has a nirgun saroop, and sargun saroop....during samadhi the goal is to merge, open your third eye of and merge with the geet, vibrations, anhad naad, prakash the jot of waheguru which are his bol...paramtma de bol...waheguru also speaks, and is forever speaking, thakur hamara sadh bolanta...har vakhat bol reya ...but your mind wasnt present...since you were born you muted yourself to paratma de bol, paratma de geet the vibrations where waheguru is speaking, you can also hear it if seeining waheguru was seeing with these eyes then the blind bhagat in guru granth sahib would never have been able to see waheguru...even the deaf say the can hear,,,the dance of the world through kaaal, the vibrations and geet of paratma....you need to stop wasting your energy through kaam thoughts and recognize whats really happening, there is a prakash, anhad naad forever playing, it rises in you from below, your body has been made to have such power but your mind...your mind causes you to forget this power, waste this power.....when your energy rises, recognize the energy, wahegurus presence, try to merge and hear wahegurus jot and become 1...do naam simran, convert it to naam rass ?

Just for your taste of eating meat. If we were in a survival mode and there was nothing else then yes Jhatka to stay alive is needed, Guru understands that. But in Sikh history, from what I've heard is that Singhs did gajara on tree bark and leaves and muth (handful) of cholay.

I knew someone who use to rate (as in a scale of quality) the langar of Gurughars in his local town, and he'd turn up just to eat --- with his mother, wife and kids in tow. He did no seva, and there was no interest in what's going on upstairs in the Darbar. It was just to eat. To him it was like a holy buffet.

  36. Singh I appreciate your concern and telling me what uklondonsikh said about Sant ji, I did not see that in his post. However consider this as good execrise for those who want to learn how to debunk these nastiks theories. uklondonsikh refuses to put up Dasam Bani because he knows in a split second the Bani can be explained and Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj shabad can be presented to show clear agreement on Dasam Bani Shabad. We have nothing to hide, like these nastiks do (asked him to present Dasam Bani shabads that don't algin with Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj and hes running the 8 mile). Dasam Bani is there for everyone to listen to and read. Even if one Sikh in the world learns how to debunk these nastiks bullets with no fire power, then we have gained and they have lost yet again in the same debate. uklondonsikh is trying to play a chess match with checker pieces. The more these nastiks are exposed with contentment, hulimity, and contemplation, where we stand on Truth. Then they can keep running around like a chicken without a head or drop there egotistical ways and bow to Dasam Bani with their head and mind. But i do get your point of don't agrue with nastiks. :biggrin2:

Surely it is either being misinterpreted or it doesn't say that considering what Guru Sahib tells us, what HISTORICAL FACT tells us, what Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale says how woman have every right to do kirtan and other Gurmat program sewa. It's sad we blindly accept some things like these without being true to ourselves and looking at what it means to be a Sikh and whether this is Gurmat or not. I won't be ashamed to say this is backward and brahman mentality to bar a bibi from doing any kirtan or any sewa. In another speech by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale he talks about how only in Sikhi a woman is allowed to part-take in all the services and read Gurbani but in Islam woman are forbidden from doing so. He goes on to say a man may reach heaven but what will happen to the poor woman.

I used to encourage these Singhs to keep their Kesh and take the Amrit of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji, but they felt they were not ready – although they would state they had an aim to be blessed with Amrit in the future. Circumstances were such that these two Singhs were imprisoned in the same jail as Bhai Balwant Singh Ji. They were sentenced for 3 months and spent most of this time with Bhai Balwant Singh Ji. They do not call Bhai Sahib ‘Balwant Singh’ but they refer to Bhai Sahib Ji as Baba Ji. Doing Sangat with Bhai Sahib Ji in jail for 3 months totally changed their Jeevan. They entered the jail as Manmukhs and came out as Gurmukhs. I asked them, ‘There are many Singhs in that jail who come out after completing their sentence the same as when they entered, but how did your Jeevan change?’ They replied saying, ‘We shall never remove our Dastaar now and never do Beadbi of our Kesh because we were blessed enough to have the opportunity to do Sangat of Baba Balwant Singh Ji’. So I asked them further, ‘Tell me what you found inspiring about Bhai Sahib Ji that led to such a drastic change in your Jeevan?’ Their reply was, ‘There are many types of prisoners within that jail that have committed all kinds of offences, but Baba Balwant Singh Ji is different from all, he is a Chardhi Kala Gurmukh who recites Gurbani 24-hours a day and does not let even one second, one breath pass without Naam.’ (Gurmantar Abhiyaas). It was Bhai Sahib Ji’s Chardhi Kala Jeevan itself that had inspired these two people to become Gurmukhs. I had this discussion with these two Singhs before Bhai Balwant Singh Ji was sentenced to death and I said to them, as I say now, Bhai Balwant Singh Ji is definitely a true Gursikh filled with Khalsa spirit. There is no doubt in this. Bhai Sahib Ji’s courage was proved later on when we heard their statement. Bhai Sahib Ji did a plea to the Jathedar of Akaal Takht that no appeal to pardon their hanging should be put forward as they shall not ask for forgiveness when there has been no wrongdoing, instead, they want to kiss the noose of death. This statement in itself will forever become an inspiration for the many generations to come...” - ENDS -

  46. ‘He was an Angel’ ( Oh ta Farishta si), These words describe the deep feelings of love and respect people of Punjab have for Baba Manochahal. As Buzurg Sikhs sit in groups in village centres and talk about the age gone, this one name still arouses feelings of Love and faith in hearts of many. The policemen who saw him, who met him, who had a word with him, till today bear witness to his bravery, his simplicity and his determination to fight till end. In words of one such policeman ‘'when he was escaping after an encounter, he passed by me. He was holding his GPM in his hand and bag of ammunition was on his shoulder. Looking at him, my gun fell. If he had been any other Kharkoo, I would be dead by now, but he just looked at me, smiled and said ‘ Sikh hai,Baani padya kar, tera bhala ho jooga’ (you are a Sikh, read Baani, you will be blessed) and just vanished. Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Manochahal joined Damdami Taksal in 1974 at age of 20 during Sant Kartar Singh ji’s time. After completing his Vidya, he started going out with Jatha on parchar missions. After Sant Kartar Singh ji, Sant Jarnail Singh ji became Jathedar of Taksal in 1977. Babaji was very close to Santji and had great respect for Santji. He was one of the few Singhs assigned by Sant Kartar Singh ji to always remain with and assist Sant Jarnail Singh ji. When Sant Jarnail Singh ji was surrounded by Punjab Police to be arrested and killed in Mumbai, Santji left secretly in a white ambassador car, while Babaji lay on Santji’s bed with a bed sheet on his face (he had height same as Santji). All the time, police and spies thought that it was Sant Jarnail Singh who was sleeping on bed, but after 8 hours Babaji removed sheet from his face, policemen were left empty handed as it was not Santji, who had gone too far to be caught by now. He had a highly spiritual Jeevan and a long nitnem at Amritvela. Many a times, he went in Samadhi, sitting one with Akaal Purakh for days at length. This made Sant Jarnail Singh ji respect Babaji further and Santji assigned Babaji with Kar sewa of Gurudwara Bhai Dhanna Singh ji at village Naushera Pannua. Interestingly, Baba Manochahal was the one who arranged for arms and ammunitions for Babbar Khalsa Singhs (Bhai Talwinder Singh, Bhai Anokh Singh and Bhai Kulwant Singh Nagoke) and did ardas for them when they went on their first mission to punish Narkdharis. Baba Manochahal had a very magnetic personality, a peaceful shine in his eyes and firmness on face, and at same time, he had Heart and humility of a Sant, which made him a complete Sant- Sipahi. Santji asked Babaji on 1st June 1984 to leave Darbar Sahib Parkarma and carry on the struggle. Baba Gurbachan Singh ji formed ‘ Bhindranwala Tigers Force of Khalistan’ in 1985 to carry on mission of Santji. He was Jathedar of 5-member Panthic committee which was formed on 26th Jan 1986 to lead Khalsa Panth and carry on struggle of Khalistan. Baba Gurbachan Singh ji was respected for his vision, his farsightedness, his Panthic Piaar , his dedication and his deep faith for Mission given by Santji. He took each and every word of Santji by his heart and worked entire life to fulfill bachans of Santji. Baba Gurbachan Singh ji had qualities which many other leaders of Sikh Resistance Movement lacked. He was not only a soldier, but also a scholar, a poet, a visionary, a statesman, an ideologue of Movement. He had all the qualities which were needed in an able General, and He WAS the one. This was the reason that all Government Agencies, Traitors, agents and touts worked with all their might to bring him down someway. There was Four million Rupee reward on his head, raids were carried out at 40-60 places at same time, with more than 60,000 Government troops involved, but the Great Warrior, Baba Manochahal always escaped the net and cordon of Military forces. He was labeled ‘Agent of Congress’ by some so-called Panthic Leaders of those times, like Dr. Sohan Singh, who with help of government agencies had established themselves as leaders and ideologues of Kharkoo Jathebandis. But that didn’t stop Babaji from his mission. He didn’t care what people talked about him, who stood with him or against him, what danger he had to face due to his actions. He was a Sant, someone who had gone beyond filth, impurity and corruption of world and its distractions. He was working as a soldier of Dasmesh Pita, with his inner self imbued in Naam and Baani. He walked as a companion of 18th century Sikhs, without caring for the thorns cutting his feet and body. Burning heat of Punjab’s summers or chilling cold of winters, which he spent in fields of Punjab didn’t break his confidence. One by one, all his companions, all loyal soldiers fell in battlefield. His father, mother, brothers, nephews sacrificed their lives at altar of truth. Left alone in battlefield, he was asked by well-wishers to leave the battlefield and enemies called upon him to surrender, but this brave heart son of Guru Gobind Singh ji, soldier of Khalsa Panth, the true ‘Taksali Nihang’, the care-less Sant-Sipahi roamed in streets of villages singing ‘Sir dittea baajh nahi rehna Dharam Sir ditteaa baajh nahi rehna’ ( Dharam will not survive without sacrificing our heads). And the day came, when he quietly drank the poison given by friends,to whom he had gone for food and shelter. As he understood what had happened, he quietly left the place where he drank the poison and started walking to an unknown destination, knowing very well that journey would end very soon and he will be in his Father's feet. The enemies were following him, quietly watching his steps, waiting for him to fall. They didn’t carry enough courage to challenge poisoned Son of Guru Gobind Singh ji, whose name itself used to send shivers down their spine. As the ‘albela’ Baba kept walking, poison showed its effects and this ‘Tiger of Bhindranwala’ fell in a field outside the village of Rataul. As he fell and his Holy Soul flew away to Immortal Palace of Guru Gobind Singh ji, cowards of Punjab police appeared and pumped numerous bullets in his life-less body. Baba Manochahal kept his promise, which he had made to Sant Kartar Singh ji and Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa, to always remain a loyal and humble soldier of Khalsa Panth, to fight for Panth and Dharam till last breath and sacrifice his life for Charhdi Kala of Khalsa Panth. Baba Manochahal ji used to say ‘’ When a Shaheed sacrifices his life, don’t pray for his soul to ‘rest in peace’, instead pray to Maharaj and Shaheed Singhs to send that holy soul again to serve the Panth as Panth needs brave and pure Souls. Only those blessed souls can take Panth to Charhdi kala’’. Following Babaji’s bachans, I ask him and other brave Shaheeds not to Rest in Peace ( R.I.P.) but ‘’ Rise Again’’ (R.A.) Baba Gurbachan Singh ji Manochahal – R.A. Bhindranwala Tigers Force Zindabad Khalistan Zindabad Tiger of Dasmesh Baba Gurbachan Singh ji had some very unique and inspiring qualities which made him greatest General of Sikh Resistance Movement after Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa. Here I would like to share some incidents, words and actions of Babaji’s life which show his bravery, courage, determination, honesty, purity, spiritual prowess and ability to rise above worldly divisions and distractions. Babaji and Taksal – After Operation Bluestar, some people tried to target Baba Manochahal and his intentions and alleged that He was trying to be next Mukhi of Damdami Taksal. Babaji gave out a statement to press and media which was ‘’ I am living life of an outlaw, how can I work as Mukhi of Damdami Taksal? I joined Taksal as a vidyarthi in 1974 during Sant Kartar Singh ji’s time and after him, Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa became Jathedar. I have always been a loyal and humble vidyarthi of Taksal and will remain so forever. The Mission which Santji gave me, I will carry it forward with all the power Maharaj has given me, till my last breath. I will not run away from my responsibilities and bachans of Mahapurakh Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa. Those who are trying to create frictions between me and Baba Thakur Singh ji should stop these antics. I have always respected Babaji from the day I joined Taksal and shall continue to do it forever. The amount of Love and respect I have for Babaji, will never decrease and no one can decrease it. Yes, I will appeal to all the Singhs to remain calm and raise above all divisions and work for Charhdi kala of Panth. Only time will tell who served Taksal with all the heart and Soul. ‘’ Babaji and Movement – After Operation Bluestar, Baba Thakur Singh ji and Damdami Taksal called Sarbat Khalsa at Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib to decide future course of action. On 26th January 1986, millions of Sikhs gathered at Sri Darbar Sahib Complex and Panthic committee was formed under Babaji’s guidance. Baba Manochahal was One of Singhs of Panthic Committee. Babaji gave an emotional speech that day in front of Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib wherein he outlined the future course of action, which included Sewa of Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib, Justice for victims of June and November 84 Massacres and armed struggle to attain Freedom for Sikh Panth. Babaji formed ‘Bhindranwala Tigers Force’ to fight for Freedom. When Bhai Satwant Singh and Bhai Kehar Singh ji were hanged on 6th January 1989, all the Mukhi Kharkoos gathered and did samagam for Shaheeds, where Bhai Wadhawa Singh Babbar did Kirtan and Baba Manochahal ji did ardas for Shaheeds. Baba Manochahal served as a uniting factor on many issues between Jathebandis and always stressed on unity of all the Jathebandis in One fighting force to attain freedom, an attempt which was torpedoed many a times by people like Dr.Sohan Singh and Jagjeet Singh Chohan. Babaji was part of Jatha which faced enemy bullets on 13th April 1978, and he was the Last general to fall on 28th Feb 1993, and after his Shaheedi, Movement came to a virtual standstill, which it is till today. Babaji’s Vision and Far-sightedness. Baba Manochahal’s younger brother, Bhai Mohinder Singh , who was also a top Kharkoo of BTFK, was shot dead by Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Sangha of same Jathebandi. Babaji was in Pakistan at that time, when he returned, his close aides reported the matter to Babaji and asked him to punish Sangha. Babaji called Sangha and asked calmly about the matter. Sangha replied to Babaji that he was ashamed and sorry for what had happened, and it was a case of wrong information, wherein he was told that Bhai Mohinder Singh had become a police agent. Babaji placed his hand on Sangha’s shoulder and said ‘’ Sangha, next time be careful about information and verify it before you shoot someone. Each and every Singh is precious in this struggle’’. Ashamed of what had happened; Bhai Sangha left Majha and started his operations in Malwa area. Singhs were surprised and amazed at restraint showed by Babaji in dealing with killer of his brother. In 1991-92, Babaji alongwith Baba Thakur Singh ji called upon all Panthic parties and Jathebandis to fight elections as boycotting them would prove a historic blunder for Movement. But Akali factions who were sell-outs of Indian Government insisted on boycotting elections. People like Dr. Sohan Singh, Chief of Panthic committee cleverly took Babbars on his side to boycott elections and anyone who called upon Panthic parties to fight elections was labelled ‘’Government Agent’’. Baba Thakur Singh ji asked Simranjeet Singh Maan to fight elections but he also refused. Baba Manochahal sent Bhai Manjeet Singh, son of Sant Kartar Singh and brother of Bhai Amrik Singh ji Shaheed to Panthic meeting where it was to be decided whether or not to fight elections. Bhai Manjeet Singh, who was President of AISSF that time was asked by Babaji to somehow make all Singhs understand importance of elections. But Bhai Manjeet Singh couldn’t resist the pressure of other Jathebandis and signed the declaration boycotting elections. When he returned and met Baba Manochahal, he told Babaji about his failure to stop boycott of elections. Babaji took out his Gun, placed it on Bhai Manjeet Singh’s head and said ‘’ If you were not Son of Sant Kartar Singh ji, I would have shot you by now. You don’t know what you all did today. You have signed on death warrant of thousands of Sikhs today’’. That day Babaji said his famous bachans ‘’ Big trees will fall, river of blood of innocents will flow, people who fold hands today in front of us and ask us to visit their houses will close their doors on us, they will even refuse us water, movement will fall back by decades. Panth will understand its loss only after the loss has been made’’. Babbars and some other Jathebandis sided with Dr.Sohan Singh that time and labelled Baba Manochahal as Congress Agent. Babaji refused to give any statement against Babbars but clearly said about Dr. Sohan Singh that ‘’ this man has talked till today, he will just talk and live on. And it’s not hard for a person like him to change his words. Those who have chosen to follow him will understand later who was right and who was wrong ‘’. Today Babaji’s words have come true. Baba Manochahal ji sacrificed his Life for Panth, but same Dr. Sohan Singh today lives in his Bungalow in Chandigarh and attends RSS functions. Recently he gave out a statement that ‘’ I never had any relationship with Khalistan movement or Khalistanis’’. When some Singhs praised Wassan Singh Jaffarwal in front of Baba Manochahal in 1991, Babaji smiled and said ‘’ He is not Singh, He is wassu, wassu, and with time, you will see his Truth’’. And we all saw the great surrender drama of Wassan Jaffarwal!! Babaji and Panthic Unity. After election boycott decision and Babaji;s support for elections, some young Babbars started looking for Babaji, to shoot him. Navroop Singh was their Jathedar. After regular instigations, Singhs asked Babaji permission to teach Navroop Singh a lesson. Babaji quietly refused and politely said ‘’ If I too start acting like them, what will be the difference between me and him’’? Bhai Behla, who was right hand man of Babaji, got irritated and said ‘’ Jathedar ji, you will get killed one day and get us killed from hands of these stupid boys, without a reason. I can’t be peaceful like you’’. Babaji stood up, folded his hands and said ‘’ Singho, if you want, you can cut my head, but I will not let you fire on fellow brothers who are fighting for Panth. Yes they are on wrong path, lets do ardas to Maharaj to bless them with Bibek-Budh and understanding ‘’. After few days, Rataul encounter happened and BTFK Singhs fought for 56 hours in this encounter, killing scores of enemy forces. This sent shock waves in Kharkoos who were against Babaji. Navroop Singh confronted Sohan Singh and said ‘’ you say Manochahal is a Congress agent, if he is congress agent, how and why are his Singhs fighting for 56 hours in encounters’’? Sohan Singh head his hung in shame and left the place. After few days, Navroop Singh went to Babaji and apologized for his stupidity. When Jathedar Sukhdev Singh Babbar attained Shaheedi, Babaji’s sister saw Babaji crying. She said you and Sukhdev Singh had so big ideological and strategic differences between you, then why are you crying for him? Babaji said ‘’ sister, whatever our differences, still he was my brother, we were walking on same path, we had same dream, I have lost a brave brother today’’. This was Babaji’s love and respect for fellow Singhs and Jathedars. He had the ability to rise above partisan politics and work and think for entire Panth. When whole Indian Media started a slanderous campaign against Jathedar Sukhdev Singh, to malign his image and character, it was one and only Baba Manochahal who gave out a recorded statement to defend Jathedar Sukhdev Singh, his second marriage, his lifestyle and actions. He proved it through Baani and history that Jathedar Sukhdev Singh was not wrong in having a second wife while first was alive, as he had Anand Karaj with that Bibi, Jawahar Kaur, and it was necessary for him to live in Bungalow to carry out his Kharkoo activities. It was due to Babaji’s statement that honour of Bhai Sukhdev Singh was saved , else even Singhs close to Jathedar Sukhdev Singh and various other jathedars had started pointing fingers at character of Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar. When Singhs asked Babaji why he was defending Sukhdev Singh, who had bitter differences with him, Babaji simply said ‘’ I’m defending honour of a Shaheed who fought and died for Panth. I just can’t let his blood go waste due to all this maligning attempts’’. Babaji and New-age thinking Once Babaji was having Langar with some Singhs during afternoon at one of his hideouts. Some young Singhs of village were standing near Babaji. While discussing various issues, some singhs reported to Babaji about a boy and girl of village who ‘met secretly and were having a love affair’. They asked Babaji to punish them or shoot them. Babaji said ‘ Singho, if they are in love with each other, we don’t have a right to interfere, yes, if some guy abuses, molests or dishonours a Bibi, then don’t think twice before shooting him, lets not get into personal matters of people, we have a war to fight’’. Singhs became quiet after listening to Babaji. On other hand, Babaji called that boy and girl outside village Gurudwara and asked them about their relation. Shivering with fear while looking at Babaji’s face, they accepted that they loved each other. Babaji said ‘’ Ok, if you love each other, then you have to marry each other, and if any one of you backed off, I will shoot that person with my hands. Now it’s not just about love, it’s about honour of your families, our culture and religion ‘’. This showed how much Babaji valued personal freedom, culture and traditions. Small divisive issues were unable to distract him or divert his attention. One such incident happened when Babaji was having langar at one of his shelters (called Behak in Punjabi). Babaji asked the owner of the house if he wanted anything from him. Owner said Babaji, just shoot my neighbour and I’ll be free of stress. I don’t see him face to face and I just hate him. Babaji stopped eating langar, got up and started walking. Singh ran behind Babaji and stopped him and asked reason of Babaji’s leaving. Babaji angrily said ‘Singha, if I come to you for food and shelter, don’t expect me to shoot any innocent for you. This is not what Guru Gobind Singh ji or Santji taught us. I’ll find some other place, but this is a big price to pay, killing an innocent ‘’. The Singh was ashamed of his words and apologized to Babaji. Till today, people talk with love, passion and respect about Baba Manochahal. He was a Sant-Sipahi-Poet-Scholar. Words fail to describe him and his personality. There are hundreds of other beautiful and inspiring incidents of Babaji’s life which are to be shared and will be shared with Sangat. Babaji was gem of Panth, a loyal soldier of Santji’s Army, a dedicated student of Damdami Taksal. In countryside of Majha, he is a legend who will live on forever. I have seen people unable to stop their tears while talking about him. His legend is Immortal, being kept alive in hearts of thousands and thousands of Sikhs, passed from generation to generation. He will be remembered forever and as the time will pass, his glory, his greatness; his light will spread through whole world, inspiring millions to walk on path of freedom and truth. Some call him Robinhood of Majha, some see in him Che Guvera, but comparisons are not good enough for him. He was just ‘Baba Manochahal - The Braveheart'. 48. ~!Danger of Bhausaria Mindset in the Panth !~ VahiguroojikakhalsaVahiguroojikifateh ! Now that i have got your attention, most people when they read bhusaria they automatically assume bhusaria is refferred to teja singh bhusaria who was excommunciated from the panth by attempting to take bhagata di bani out of sri guru granth sahib ji. Sangat would ask why i am mentioning his name, he was excommunciated, he passed away, case closed. But if case was closed that easily, there wouldnt be major internal ideaological differences in the panth to begin with. This post will shed some light how bhausaria mindset is still alive and eating panth from inside even though bhausaria physical body is not alive. When teja singh bhausaria some close to 100 years ago came in the panth, he bought fwd loads of outrageous claims, bold statements without any proof, far most serious all- he created sense of confusion among sangat, this sense of sansa(doubts) replicated day by day, now after 100 years his claims/statements somehow form into an beleif system itself which many sikhs some openly/some in gupt form adhere to. The sense of confusion of issue he created in the panth still exist to this day. Here are some of claims/statements of teja singh bhausaria, they still exist today in form of beleif system not as statement but subtly residing in beleif system. This is taken from sant gurbachan singh ji bhindranwale work- Gurmat Rehit Maryada- orginal work look below: 1. There is no such thing as santhood in sikhi, this has became a very very common beleif in sikh mainstream circle, it all started from bhausaria, he started by totally taking out 13th ashtpadi from sukhmani sahib in his soo called reform sri guru granth sahib, new age sikh brothers who adhered to above beleif system do this by making bold statements like sant shabad in sri guru granth sahib ji only refers to guru sahib only and thats it without doing any actual vichar, when they debate how sants are evil and stuff most of them forget about sukhmani sahib. This is very interesting parallelism between bhausaria beleif when he was alive and bhausaria mindset which crept into beleif system which many sikhs adhere to this day. 2. Sri Ram Chandar and Sri Krishan ji Upma/Ustat(glory) had no place in gurbani/sikhi, bhausaria feeling was soo soo insecure that he actually to prove his claim, he started replacing ram with Wah and Har with Gur in Savaie Bhatt gurbani, also he took out ram/krishan and other hindu devi's/devta's in his so called reform version of sri guru granth sahib ji. New Age sikh brothers who adhered to above beleif system also do the same deed via slightly different manner which is by creating an very distrubing hindu paranioa and extreme insecurity. This is also very interesting parellelism between bhausaria beleif and bhausaria mindset which exist today, fine i acknowledge bhasuaria mindset which exist today dont have power or guts even touch sri guru granth sahib to modify what their predeccessors did but imagine in next decade if bhausaria mindset gets in the majority and start controlling panth decisions- what will they do???. Although i think this whole distrubing hindu parniao and exterme insecurity have diseased many sikhs in the panthic circle already. 3. Bhausaria orginally claimed that in ardas instead of pritham bhaguti simarkae, there should be satnam simar kai, this beleif crept again in the bhausaria mindset adapted now, it shows nothing but insecurity that if we start saying pritham bhaguti simar kai which is taken from sri chandi di //, sikhs will start beleiving in sri dasam granth sahib. Therefore lets subtly question each and every slight tradition of khalsa, ardas to naam simran so that sikhs start questioning its own tradition and start having more doubts in sri dasam granth sahib ji. This is exactly what bhausaria mindset ie- new age sikhi groups ie- kala afghana followers, missionary groups does. Sometimes they question ardas indirectly pointing towards authencity of sri dasam granth sahib, sometimes they question concept of reincarnation/heaven/hell concepts just because this universal concepts were shared by hindu dharam, again nothing but extreme insecurity shared by both- bhausaria beleif as an person and bausaria mindset which crept into beleif system which many sikhs adhere to this day. 4. Bhausaria claimed sataie balvandaie vaar is not part of gurbani, this claim crept into sikhi and was later supported by prof sahib singh who many sikhs beleive an one and only authority to translate/interpret sri guru granth sahib ji punjabi. MOD EDIT References from above are scanned below: starting from 2nd paragraph Wake up people, real enemy of beautiful khalsa panth adorned by sri guru gobind singh ji is not RSS(they are very easy to refute, nirmala samparda have refuted them many many times in the past), real enemy is dangerous Bhausaria mindset exist still today, real enemy is not a human being or set of people or organization but dangerous bhausaria mindset. Human being or set of people or organization cannot be real cause of panth setbacks, classic example- back in the time some people may have thought while teja singh bhausaria time that the real dushman is bhausaria, when he leaves the earth all claims/bold statements/ actions he took will be vanished but look what happened now? All the bhausarias beleif's have subtly crept into beleif system many sikhs adhere to now. So real enemy is that mindset not any personality, group of people. Only way to get rid of it, is by parchar which should politely target this bhasuaria mindset which has deep rooted in many praticing sikhs today. thats all for now. 49. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Well.. late night tv is evil.. Bhai Jagdish Singh's thing to me is a bit complicated and hard for me to repeat.. basically theres no point when you miss amritvela to go crying oh i missed it blah blah.. this stress will cause u a LOT more harm than missing amritvela. You need to accept that you missed it, its not your weakness, its not guru sahib, its YOU.. you missed it, accept that and move on. Do ardas, guru sahib will give you amritvela sooner or later when the time is right. Otherwise dont stress, dont cry and scream, thats useless. You can make up for it by even doing naam simran before sleeping, rehras, while just doing things around the house, thats what can make up for it. I havent really captured his words but thats best i can do
