  1. VJKKVJKF, a friend made me aware of this discussion as I'm away in Canada. Thanks ji for all the kind words in support. We started street parchar as a "Lets just try it and see". tbh, we have much better conversations when the camera is not on and also when its not in someones face. So our filming technique needs work. Less than half of people agree to be filmed so the sangat on youtube only get to see a portion of what we do in street parchar. Some of the best conversations are not on the camera but its those conversations that keep us motivated to keep going. The purpose of the videos is to show people how to use the leaflet and so they can just get out there and start talking. The average street parchar desk doesn't need to film the conversations. "BasicsofSikhi" is not about me, its about SIkhi and spreading Guru's wisdom. We are going to be a team of three soon and hopefully more. Our philosophy is to enable other people to use the videos to spread Sikhi ie "Arm yourself with knowledge". Sangat can download the leaflets and documents, print them professionally and distribute, using the videos as an example. We are making even more leaflets and parchar material for parchar desks at cities, universities and gurdwaras. Yes of course some people are busy and some are uncomfortable in front of a camera, but one thing is true, no one has yet to tell us that they didn't like hearing about Gurus message! Most people actually thank us and are glad to learn more (those that stop). I'd like to state that its not easy doing street parchar, most people dont stop, most pople think we are actually muslims, most people are busy or just rude and not one person who has come on a street parchar day has come away thinking "well that was easy". Its actually a long way out of our comfort zones. I'd incredibly grateful to all the people who have helped so far and challenged themselves in this way. Guru kirpa kare on those sevadaars. Its a funny thing that our punjabi youth love watching street parchar videos and learn a lot about Sikhi from them, but its hard to get them to watch japji sahib katha. Well, its kaljug after all, but Guru kirpa a few people have watched other videos from the channel about gurbani after watching the street parchar. Now we've done a lot of videos 'by the script' we're going to start going 'off the script' so that people can see the easy and also some other ways of talking about Sikhi. The leaflet and videos are just a tool that make street parchar a little less daunting. Many people have stated they feel Street Parchar is needed and essential and I agree with that. I'd encourage anyone to at least try it and see the magic that can happen. I do feel that Guruji spread out to spead Sikhi and us western born Sikhs have now forgotten that idea. Guru kirpa kare we jap naam and encourage others to jap naam. Just a few days ago in Toronto, a muslim who spoke to us for a while was very surprised that we told him to remain Muslim and chant the 99 names of Allah on a tasbih. He genuinely was amazed! Dhan Guru Nanak! - please keep us in your ardaas if you support us. VJKKVJKF

  2. There is historical parsang in sri gur pratap nanak parkash/soraj parkash granth regarding karam theory and karam being of three different types of karam- sachit, kriaman and parlabdh karam. Here is more info about it: source: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/55009-brahm-gyan-english-part-1/

  3. Guru maharaj never promoted segregation of any kind, everyone (spiritual seeker/good attributes-sikh or mona alike) was welcomed with open arms and love.. together gursikhs and sehaj dhari, sikhs, spiritual seekers all searched for spiritual truth, engaged in sadh sangat/sat sangat..surely everyone was at different state of mind, use different methods (gurbani, bhagti, shabad surat, gyan) in different different spiritual development stages but despite of diversity there was no disunity or dvaish(partiality) within sikhs of all different avastha because all consider guru maharaj as same and goal was same which is to connect with One (IkOngkar). My best freind is a mona.. one may be suprised but i am always learning something new (sikh is learner) about shabad surat from him whenever i see him ..he is been doing jaap of mool mantar since he was 14, right now he is listening to shabad dhuni (mool mantar) inside and at every advance stage of shabad surat marg which i rather not disclose but doing close to 5 hrs of naam bhyas every day so much so tribal cultish chelas at nanaksar did so much erkha against him because he was mona, he was told to sit in a corner as his sitting in meditation posture was "too distracting" to them -wth? Go figure....anyway, divine play is beautiful and it gives ones reality check when we least expect. i cannot speak for others but i don't consider myself better than moneh(all though i do admit i did in past) who is trying to connect with one, genuine spiritual seeker and slowly trying to take steps to improve their jeevan by applying sikh principles in sehaj as i came to understanding sikh means learner and is learning every day and i came to understanding recently all of us sikhs (regardless baptised or not) are in realm of panj chor/engaging in panj chor- some subtle, some little, some partial, some more thats until one gets their panj chor destroyed by guru maharaj kirpa and bhramgyan.

  4. It all comes down to parents. All they teach their children is how to to gurdwara, do matha tek, take prashad, eat langar and go home. they don't teach them what real Sikhi is because they themselves have no idea. They are more into making more money, talking behind people's back, promoting social evils like more preference to male child, discriminating based on caste. and " You are not Punjabi unless you drink"

  6. First thing first, I am not against any jatha or samparda nor i m against any sant mahapursh/bhai sahib/prof/dr/gursikhs/senior gurmukhs who put panth at first. But with that being said, i am vehemently against any idea which promotes cultish tendacies/individual cultish perception (be it from youths, grown ups) which super imposes itself on the panth. I am sure humkire sahib ji can contribute on to this thread as this something i can agree with him totally. Personally speaking, I used to be quite cultish 5-6 years ago, i used to box the khalsa panth into a tunnel, made my own little idea/world of khalsa panth in my specific case was nanaksar and anything outside of nanaksar didn't pay any attention for eg- anything outside of teaching of baba nand singh ji maharaj regarding gurbani. My yard stick to measure an authenticity of gurbani regarding sri dasam granth and sri sarbloh granth was soley based on to see if baba nand singh maharaj quoted it and if he did - accept it fully while didn't pay attention to other compositions. There wasn't or isn't anything wrong with nanaksar or baba nand singh ji maharaj or samparda or jatha itself but everything was wrong with "my cultish perception" which boxed khalsa panth into tunnel vision seeing khalsa panth via nanaksar/googles of nanaksar. Then I looked into amish/mormon/ jevoh witness type of followers and studied them, as jevoh witness came to our house few times to do their parchar and everytime they would come- i would be quite pissed at them but reality sanked in- i was shocked that despite of jevoh witness different belief system than us. Jevoh Witness followers and I have very similar things in common which was "cultish perception". But as they say, even oppositions can give people reality checks and i am living example of it..!!, things start changing slowly where i opened up my horizon slightly- smell more beauty of diversity flowers around me. Now thanks to maharaj, i consider myself quite lucky my cultish perception was destroyed by maharaj himself and i could see panth at times from 360 degree angle specially when i am contemplating/self reflecting on things. Surely jatha and samparda's in the panth- be it akj, taksal, nirmale, udasi, sevapanthis, nihangs, soho rd- niskham seva jatha, 3ho dodra are all essential and its there to help to motivate someone in khalsa panth, they are all needed. We cannot do rejection or favor one over another but we need to be extremely careful when jatha/samparda's becomes driving force in one's individual sikhi rather than gurbani- kirtan, katha, patt, simran/meditation and seva. I too also need to be careful in parchar regarding jatha and samparda so that i don't villify their followers as reverse villify them is just as bad (another extreme) but i do think perception is everything- one could be still in jatha or taksal is still be quite open minded in diversity and vice versa. Nothing needs to changed in the jatha, samparda or maryada or anything in khalsa panth but only individual's perception of looking at things, perceiving things. I will end by very shocking quote i got from facebook which lead me honestly start this topic. Again not villifying any specific jatha or samparda's- cultish taksalis are just as bad where bhramgyani baba thakur singh ji barsi program overshadow inadvertently sahibzadais' shahedi divas instead of striking a right balance, cultish mentality is human problem cannot be tied to specific group or jatha. Anyway here is quote from an individual which lead me to open this new topic: http://www.facebook.com/hargurus Ironically enough, i had a same perception as this individual 5-6 years ago but by maharaj kirpa things have changed for me, this is classic example what we need to refrain from, i don't want people to make same mistakes like i did wasted years of my life..!!

  7. I have always thought of Sikhi as a spectrum but have frequently come across those who want it black and white, yes and no. If you ban monay from asking or talking about Sikhi, how will they learn? If you do not embrace them into Sikhi, can you call yourself a Sikh? If you ban them from discussing or talking or learning about Sikhi, are you any different from those Brahmins who used to control the Hindu population? The same Brahministic control/mentality that Guru Maharaj fought against?

  9. Hindus come from Sikhs, the devangari script and great hindu stories were reformed after 1947 and if there was no guru gobind singh there would be no hindus today they would all be muslims praying towards mecca. we all have ancestors and our ancestors aren't always important we learn from suraj prakash granth and dasam granth of this bedi sodhi linege from ram chander. So what, in mahabharat families were at war with one another, guru nanaks own children didn't follow sikhi. Members of the sodhi family attacked the gurus and sikhs, some formed their own cults. As for Luv and Kush bedis come from one the sodhis come from the other they are both related to Sita (since one of them was miraculously created or had another biological father possibly valmiki after ram abadoned her). Or luv and kush could be twins and the ramayan is poorly translated. Valmki is seen as a brahma avtar and ram is a vishnu avtar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lava_(Ramayana) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kusha_(Ramayana) Sikhs are descendents of akal purkh, akal purkh ordered the gurus to come from such biological origin.

  10. For a Sikh revelation (Gurbani) is superior to reason. If Gurbani says karma system is created by God according to which the world operates then it must be held as true. No excuses or reasons. Karma cannot be understood completely by humans. God alone knows everything. If a girl gets raped, it doesn’t necessarily follow that it is due to her past karma. In one instance, it could be that the rapist had some karmic debt to pay and cause harm to the girl. He decides to rape the girl instead of choosing any other way. This causes a new karma to begin. In second instance, it could be that the girl had no past karma interaction with the rapist and the latter decides to start a new karma altogether which is not linked to any past karma. In both cases, a new karma cycle begins. Only God knows all circumstances. Karma doesn’t decide the fate nor does it fix the action. Past Karma or predestination only works up to putting one in a certain situation after which it is up to the person to decide his course of action. If he is manmukh he will do bad and incur more bad karma. If he is gurmukh he will make the right choice and end the karma or incur good karma. This is why Gurmat is so essential to become free from karmic cycle. Gurmat doesn’t prohibit Sikhs from fighting injustice and oppression at all levels. We are not slaves of karma nor do karmas have any power of their own. Power of Naam can cut down and eliminate karma completely. A gursikh is active in spheres of life. In religions that do not believe in karma state that everything is decided and done by God which means rape etc. is done by Allah reducing the criminals to mere puppets. This is an invalid system and makes God unjust. Karma works at individual level and there is no such thing as collective karma of a community, religion or country. Guru Rakha

  12. http://www.tribuneindia.com/2013/20130813/main7.htm Namdhari sect chief was attacked by disciple’s nephew Mohit Khanna/TNS Ludhiana, August 12 The man who attacked Namdhari sect head Satguru Uday Singh with an axe during morning prayers at a Namdhari gurdwara at Leicester in England was also a Namdhari. The assailant has been identified as Harjit Singh Toor, nephew of Sarwan Singh Namdhari in whose house the Satguru was reportedly staying along with Mata Chand Kaur. While Surinder Singh Namdhari, vice-president of Namdhari Darbar in Bhaini Sahib, preferred to stay mum on the issue and maintained that the Leicester police has not yet released any details about the assailant, Navtej Singh, president of International Namdhari Sangat (the opposite faction led by Thakur Dalip Singh Namdhari) revealed shocking details about the incident. He said Sarwan Singh is the chairman of the management committee of the gurdwara where the incident happened yesterday. “Soon after the attack, the dera was shifted from Sarwan's house in Leicester. The motive behind the attack is not clear yet," said Navtej Singh while condemning the attack. He demanded an independent probe into the incident. Harjit Singh Toor, a banker by profession, has been involved in criminal incidents earlier, said Jaswinder Singh Namdhari, chairman of International Namdhari Sangat. Navtej Singh said, “He (Surinder Singh) will not say anything on the issue as it would cause embarrassment to their faction. Sarwan Singh Namdhari is a kitchen cabinet man of Satguru Uday Singh. His nephew's involvement in the crime has shocked everyone.” Sarwan Singh had reportedly offered a Rolls Royce to Satguru recently while Harjit was facing a financial crisis. Surinder Singh Namdhari slammed Navtej's allegations as baseless. In a move to bury the hatchet between the two warring Namdhari factions, Navtej Singh said that some external forces were conspiring to prevent the two brothers from coming together. "Satguru Uday Singh has been coronated head of the sect and Thakur Dalip Singh never wanted to be in the race. So there is no dispute. I believe that someone else is hatching a conspiracy to capture the supreme post of the Namdhari sect. It is time to weed out such elements," said Navtej. Thakur Dalip Singh had reportedly visited England a few weeks ago. Navtej said Thakur Dalip Singh was presently visiting Spain.

  14. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿ We have published two basic Punjabi apps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone that teach young children the basics of Punjabi; the alphabets, common fruit and vegetables, common animals, colors, numbers and shapes. Trying to learn more about their heritage and culture, Sikh and Punjabi children may benefit from this application; a foundation in the language is beneficial in understanding Sikhi. The phone app was published about 6 months ago and we just released the Windows 8 app. Both are free, and not driven by ads. 15. Please watch the following videos including other parts to it: In fact I would suggest watching all the videos in the channel for those unsure about the wrong teachings of 3ho. It is wrong to slander a jathebandi based on a few individuals commiting big violations of sikhi. However it is our duty to be aware of and warn the panth of any organsation which is actually BASED on anti sikh principles. This ex long term member of 3ho has been brave enough to publicly discuss anti sikhi practices of 3ho, especially its founder yogi bhajan. There was already a great book written on this by Dr Trilochan Singh regarding this issue but many people do not about this. A free pdf version is available online. However you will always get those with a snatan or vedant "all is one and good" type mindset having a soft spot for 3ho despite the evidence of their main princniples being hugely against the teachings of GuruSahib. Remember this isn't about exposing a random indiviual doing dodgy stuff and then using that as an excuse to attack a panthic jathebandi, this is about being aware of this group 3ho being based on and having teachings and principles which are very much against the teachings of gurbani. Clever ppl will say this is racist. No it isn't. Infact punjabi ppl normally love white people. So being against 3h0 is NOT being against white sikhs. 3ho have "sikhs" of various ethinicites. Then on the other hand white sikhs are found in other jathebandis so please do not foolishly take being against the teachings of 3h0 as being against anyone who is white. As this gursikhs in the youtube videos has said - if we don't bring awareness to the panth about their teachings and gross violations of gurmat then they will always be a danger of brainwashing innocent sikhs into their manmat. This is a worldwide sikh forum and it has a duty to teach correct sikhi and also warn us about any group which is teaching something which is very much against basic sikhi.

  16. I think it also depends on intention or aim of an individual if someone is doing naam simran to get to certain state and get ridhiya sidhiya then abuse the authority and powers that also creates vicious cycle of future karma and also creates road block for themselves in journey towards vahiguroo.

  21. Hold on a minute. Why bring children into this discussion. By bringing children into this discussion you are implying that your mind and others minds who want to dance are not yet fully able to understand what is right and wrong. Children do many silly things. They play with their food. So do you also play with your food like a child? Children at times will pick up dirt and put it in their mouth. Do you put dirt in your mouth to see what dirt is? Gurmat does not base it's actions on what children do and don't do. IF anything you sound like a Muslim scholar that says Muhammed was correct on marrying a 6 year old because three years later she got her first period. If you want to have an honest discussion about this, then present Gurbani. Instead you ignore the pauri I presented.

  23. 1. Syad Muhammad Latif, a famous historian writes in History of the Panjab(1989 edition) :- a. Historians agree in praising the great merits of Guru Govind Singh. In him were united the qualities of a religious leader and a warrior. He was a lawgiver in the pulpit, a champion in the field, a king on his masnad, a faqir in the society of the Khalsa. He was the right man for the needs of the time. Page270 b. Awakening his countrymen to a new and noble life, arousing their latent energies to a sense of common duty, he blended the undaunted courage of the soldier with the enthusiasm of the devotee, and inspired the peaceful ploughman with ideas of military glory and national aggrandizement. Composed in mind and matured in experience, he resolved to reform religious corruptions and to put an end to social abuses and depredations page 261 c. His persevering endurance in the midst of calamities and disasters was equal to his bravery and valour in the field, and, although he did not live to see his great ends accomplished, yet it is acknowledged on all the hands that the conversion of a band of undisciplined Jats (given to rapine and plunder or to agricultural pursuits) into a body of conquerors and a political corporation, was due entirely to the genius of Govind ( Singh), whose history is closely interwoven with that of Sikhs as a nation. P 271 2. JD Cunningham , an eminent historian, writes in his book, History of the Sikhs (1915edition):- The last apostle of the Sikhs did not live to see his own ends accomplished, but he effectually roused the dormant energies of a vanquished people and filled them with a lofty although fitful longing for social freedom and a national ascendancy, the proper adjuncts of that purity of worship which had been preached by Nanak. Page75. 3. Dr.Sir Gokal Chand Narang ,who has written the history of the Sikhs with very impartial religious conviction, writes in his book Transformation of Sikhism (1960 edition) :- . The seed which blossomed in the time of Guru Govind Singh had been sown by (Guru) Nanak and watered by his successors. The sword which carved the Khalsas way to the glory was, undoubtedly, forged by Guru Govind [singh]. Page17. 4.Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm, a well known historian., writes in his book Sketch of the Sikhs(1812 edition ) :- He called upon all Hindus to break those chains in which prejudice and bigotry had bound them, and to devote themselves to arms, as the only means by which they could free themselves from the oppressive government of the Muhammedans; against whom, a sense of his own wrongs, and those of his tribe, led him to preach eternal warfare. His religious doctrine was meant to be popular, and it promised equality. The invidious appellations of Brahmen, Cshatriya, Vaisya, and Sudra, were abolished. Page 149-150 5.Daulat Rai, an Arya Samaji historin of the west Panjab, in his book Sahibe Kamal GuruGobind Singh (1993 edition) writes:- a. It is extremely rare if not altogether impossible to find all the good qualities in one man. But the Guru was an embodiment of all round perfection. He was a poet, a religious leader, a religious and social reformer, an excellent planner and counsellor and a superb general. He was a poet whose verse was forceful and vibrant with emotions of every kind, and highly eloquent. As a reformer in the social and religious spheres he had no peer. In the battle-field he was a dauntless general unperturbed by the turn of events. He was a sagacious and farsighted counsellor, a true lover of his country, an unflagging champion of his people, an unrivalled martyr of his country. Page 154. b. The Guru was able to infuse new blood and vigour in dying Hindu Nation. From amongst the cowardly and supine Hindus, he created a new breed of virile and valiant people, the Khals , filled with the spirit of selfless service and self-sacrifice for the good of humanity and Glory of Akal. Page 175 6. Duncan Greenless ,a famous historian, has written in his book The Gospel of the Guru Granth Sahib(1975 edition ):- Circumstances in the country had changed greatly; India was under the ruthless bigot of Aurangzeb, and there was no constitution which could protect her people from his brutalities. Under him Hindus had no legal rights, their temples were burnt. There was nothing else to do but to submit like cowards or to resist like men. The Guru was forced into resistance by the incessant attacks of jealous Hill Rajas who cd not tolerate the rise of Sikhism beside them; he used violence and the sword as the surgeon when all the means have failed takes up the knife. The evil of the day could be combated only in that way. Page XCiX 7.Hari Ram Gupta , a very famous historian of the Punjab history writes in his bookHistory of the Sikhs Volume 1(1984 edition):- a. The Guru gave the Khalsa the social ideal of equality and close brotherhood. There was to be no distinction of birth, caste, class or colour. All were equal in social status, and had the same rights and privileges. He thus enunciated ninety years earlier the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity which formed the bedrock of French Revolution.. Page 282 b, The Gurus four acts of crowing glory are: (a) creation of the Khalsa, (b) bestowal of political sovereignty on the Khalsa, © the selection of Banda Bahadur for the establishment of the Khalsa rule and (d) declaring the Holy Granth as the eternal Guru. Page 337 8. W .Owen Cole in his book Sikhism and its Indian Context 1469 -1708 ( 1984 edition, London ) writes:- It is not to deny the importance of either religion or the struggle for freedom in his life, but it is to assert that his desire was for conditions in which his people could develop their way of life and worship in peace. Page-266 9. Anil Chandra Banerjee,an eminent historian from Bengal, writes in his book Guru Nanak and His times ( 1984 edition ):- a. His father had shown how a fearless Sikh could make the supreme sacrifice for his faith. Several decades earlier the fifth Guru had shown a similar example. It was now for the disciples to come forward and prove that their Guru had not died in vain. In giving them direction and leadership Guru Gobind responded to call of history in a manner which was not at all inconsistent with the essence of Guru Nanaks teachings. On the other hand, one might say that the tenth Gurus call evoked splendid response because the twin foundations of new system spiritual fervour and freedom from fear emanated directly from the founders teachings. From this point of view the emergence of Khalsa was the fulfillment of Guru Nanaks mission. Page- 209-210 b. His performance as a war leader is not to be judged by his apparent failure to humble his enemies. He prepared the ground for the war of independence and the emergence of the Sikh State after his death.. Page 341of his book The Sikh Gurus and the Sikh Religion. c. The new system of initiation, the abolition of Masand System, the elimination of personal Guruship and the recognition of the authority of the Panch appeared to be radical measures even though they were rooted in the past. 24. If you are a conscious human being, aware of life is sacred. Free will is the greatest gift of Whaeguru to human beings, you will not revoke other beings free will by rape, killing or other means. Free will means that we have a choice to create our own experience in this life. Since physical life has a polarity of two forces love and fear. GOD put a choice in front of us how do we want to create our experience love or fear?

I have more feeling of disappointment for them than this Gay-Sikh because being homosexual is something you are born with; these people who feel like Sikhi is not valuable may go out with other Dharma; before we do any more debates can we at least say that today Gurdwara Commitees want money, power, and respect more than anything else, they will do any Andaj Kiraj for cash; these debates are useless unless we get Panj Pyare to rule Gurdwaras over Commitees then we are going somewhere

  29. There is a difference between stretching the body to prepare it for a vigorous work out and trying to heal like you say a bad back to doing Kundalini yoga. If you did not hold any hand positions or held certain positions to "release" the body of lust, anger, and ego. Then you did not participate in kundalini yoga. If you did hold certain body positions without knowing they are so called to release lust, anger, and ego, then you have been cheated into practicing Kundalini yoga. In kundalini yoga each posture is held to align the chakras to release a human from the 5 thieves. The chakras cannot be held by Kundalini yoga and Satguru explains this through Gurbani. You might think I am not doing self harm, but you are really hurting your chances at realizing Naam while practicing Kundalini yoga. Kundalini yoga does not heal the issue. It just mask's the problem. It's like drinking cha to heal a headache. The cha just gives the body a boost to look the other way. Ever seen a person so high on cocaine that he has an object jammed inside of him, but to his buddies hes telling them......I am perfect....I cannot feel a thing. People that are depressed, they go to the doctor. The doctor prescribes the person pills to mask the problem. Take the depressed person off the pills and there you have billy bob lying on the ground with a bottle of alcohol in his hand. What the doctor ought to do is ask bob why the hell are you depressed? Get to the root of the problem. If a person has a torn muscle then find a method to repair the muscle don't throw pain killers into your body hoping the muscle will heal. Essentially, the 3HO cult is hiding their true intentions for the most part on why they practice kundalini yoga. Not only does Kundalini yoga mask the problem, but 3HO are masking to the public on why to practice it. Many times I hear people say, it gives me peace of mind. I'm clear headed, i'm relaxed, etc. The person by doing kundalini yoga just took a pain killer. The real pain in everyone's life is the separation of the atma from Akal Purakh. Look up the word Yoga and it true meaning is union. Union with what? With Brahmin/ Akal Purakh/ Allah, Gobind, Ram, whatever you want to call him. But these 3HO people have the world on pain killers. Satguru said forget the pain killers. Here is a solution that doesn't have an end. Satguru says read the truth (Gurbani), be content with the truth, and then contemplate on this truth. You do these three things and you have not only given the mind complete peace, but that union is in your grasp.

  31. Do your homework. A person that is interested in a topic will not sit around and wait to be spoon fed. He will do what is necessary to achieve the goal himself. Satguru is there and you obviously have the internet. I would not be thinking of Sarbat da bhalla if some how I was hiding Satguru from rest of the world. You don't need a special key to open the angs of Satguru. Just takes effort and time.

  32. I don't know what you said above is true about Gursant Singh, but after what he has gone through with yogi bhajan trying to shove down Yoga is Sikhi. Then it is very understandable why Gursant Singh is anti yoga or even mention of any devi and devta in Gurbani sets him off in the other direction. Yogi Bhajan was pushing his manmat yoga stuff as Sikhi. You want proof listen to his lectures. It is, also very evident from what his students say about Sikhi and then use Yogi Bhajan as a reference to support the idea that Kundalini yoga, trantric sex is Sikhi.

  34. How many Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? The lightbulb will only change if Allah wills it! How many Palestinian Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? None; they prefer to sit in the dark and blame it on Israel. How many Saudi Arabian Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? Just one, but first he must purify himself. Then he must walk a circle around the lightbulb seven times, and then back & forth seven times, then drink arsenic-laced water. Then, after changing the lightbulb, he must help the religious police hunt for anyone expressing non-muslim views. How many Pakistani Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? Most are too inbred to figure out which way the lightbulb turns. The dead bulb should be blamed on local non-muslims who insulted Islam. The only logical response is to form an angry mob, burn down their town, and imprison a young mentally-handicapped girl. How many Egyptian Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? Only the military may change the bulb. There will be massive riots before & after the change. After changing, the bulb will NOT perform according to its specifications. It will shed NO light on the kidnap, torture, rape, and murder of non-muslims. The bulb has a useful life of one year before needing another change. BLAME AMERICA, even if doing so makes no sense. How many Iraqi Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? All available lightbulbs are already being used for IEDs in daily Sunni/Shia violence. How many Afghani Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? Demand that the Americans build an extremely expensive, top-of-the-line lighting fixture. Then blow it up and demand that they leave your country. Use the shrapnel to torture animals. How many Libyan Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have assured us that every effort was made to change the lightbulb on time, but that it was simply too late. What difference, at this point, does it make? How many UAE Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? You are NOT allowed to touch the lightbulb unless you are married to it! Touching an unmarried bulb is immoral, and carries a 16-month jail sentence, even for non-muslim foreigners! How many Nigerian Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? Lightbulbs are forbidden Western technology! We will burn any school or hospital that uses evil Western lightbulbs! How many Indian Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? First they must have a massive lecture by "Doctor" Zakir Naik, who will interpret the Qur'an to find the only acceptable halal method of lightbulb changing, which proves that the Qur'an is "scientific". Then there will be several lightbulbs in the audience that "convert" on the spot. How many British Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they just have one of their underage, kidnapped, white female prostitutes change it. How many French Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? They already smashed every unused bulb in their latest riot. How many American Muslims does it take to change a lightbulb? They’ll just build a shiny new lightbulb at ground zero, with a name that evokes a time when Muslim dominated Christians and Jews after having stolen their land. And then make a reality show about it.

  36. Firstly, I can see where Dalbirji is coming from and I do have to agree ! Secondly, where the hell were these people like Gursant when the Yogi was alive ? It's easy to kick a man down when they are not here to defend themselves. As Sikhs we shouldn't be judging or classing people to their misdeeds. In all honesty, none of us are saints and would we want Guruji to judge us on our bad deeds alone or the good deeds as well ?? The huge misconception is that kundalini yoga = 3HO= Sikh ! This is where it goes wrong because the yoga doesn't have much to do with sikhi except you can use the gurbani gurmantars for the meditative aspects combined with yoga. BTW, I am a Kundalini yoga student and it hasn't hindufied me yet ! The yoga is for general well being and I use it as part of many other physical well being exercises. The advantage for me with kundalini yoga is that I can use mind and meditation primarily with the physical movements incorporated. Now, seeing as in other yogas they will use other Vedic gurmantars in order to aid the focus, as a Sikh what better gurmantar could I be using than 'waheguru' ? Gurbani tells us to keep the gurmantar enshrined within you 24/7. This should be having waheguru vibrating with every single breath no matter what you are doing. If you can't get this state of rom rom and sehaj, then you should try to think 'waheguru' with every single step you take when walking or every single movement you make with hands and feet. Even running on the tread mill in the gym can be synchronized with your own waheguru jap instead of counting or looking at the timer.- TRY IT if you really want to see what I mean !

  37. IN Guru Gobind Singh jis time there were many sehajdhari sikhs or non amaritaree sikhs who helped the panth in their time of need who knows how much of a sikh anyone is, and who is to judge? Sikhi is a path and some adopt different lessons at different times in their life - what we need is ekta not more divisions... When the Khalsa had to live in jungles during mid 1700s , it was the sehajdharis who used to care for the Singhs and feed them , as they could move around undetected. and without support from the general populous in Punjab the Sikhs would never have risen to the Sikh Raj under Maharajah Runjeet Singh. IN our kids camps we encourage the sehajdhari sikhs to do seva and take part in doing parchaar - we tell them Sikhi belongs to them and they have to look after it many Sikhs you see today were once Sehajdhari - give people time and space to grow

  40. Dalbir Singh Ji this classification of sehajdhari Sikhs as being non-Sikhs by naive elements within our Qaum is pushed by our Panthic dushts. In the next census they want to classify all derawadi influenced Sikhs as non-Sikhs but the longer term aim of our enemies is to classify the 90-95% majority within the Qaum who do not keep kes as non-Sikhs. That would eliminate all the threat that Sikhi poses to Hindutva forces. They know the 1940's Rehat was a massive achievement for Hindutva liars as it excluded crores of Dalits outside of Punjab from joining the Sikh Panth along with Dr Ambedkar. Now Hindutva has set its sights even higher against the Qaum. Their aim is to reduce us to a mere 5% of Punjab's population. We should be sensible enough to counter this and encourage sehajdhari Sikhs to engage more with others and do more seva for the Panth. Even the SGPC could benefit from sehajdhari members who have proved their dedicated seva for the Qaum on a practical level in terms of uplifting people's lives. If we can't treat our own sehajdhari Punjabi Sikhs as integral members of the Panth it bodes ill for how exactly Sikhi is meant to expand outside of Punjab. Lucky Singh Veerji i always benefit from reading your posts and I believe I speak for the whole forum. If Gursikhs like you were lost before you had progressed to becoming Kesdhari or Amritdhari then only the enemies of the Sikh Panth would have benefitted from that. Agree with you completely Veerji and Guru Sahib only advised us to voluntarily keep kesh for our own benefit (not merely to follow rules as our enemies say). Of course Amritdhari Sikhs do need to keep kes as a requisite for the Khalsa Panth. Jonny Veerji i'm truly humbled. I always assumed from your posts that you were Gursikh from day one. So it's inspiring to know that your whole family were ex-sehajdhari's like myself once too. Once people understand Sikhi (at their own pace) devotion to the Truth follows naturally. We need constant new sehajdhari blood for the Khalsa Panth to flourish and encouraging sehajdhari's is the way (rather than discouraging them not to do seva). Kes kattal and monah are loaded terms which perhaps we should steer away from in order to make all feel welcome within the Panth albeit with the realisation that Amritdhari jeevan is the ultimate goal all must try to aim for eventually.

  41. They would probably react by saying don't do it but I would like someone to point to rehat which says don't is it just a build up of oral history? Besides that i'm too used to seeing random big bellied men sitting in white clothes with the name sant claiming to be god and telling everyone believe in guru granth sahib and not them but then has everyone bow at their feet and asking for huge sums of money.

  42. A person can surely speak about Sikhi, ask questions and even answer questions even though he/she has uncut hair. GS Mann speaks on Sri Dasam Granth extensively. If one of those Sikhs with uncut hair wants to say that uncut hair gives them the right to ONLY speak about Sikhi. Then they should go after GS Mann and the Khalsa Panth will back GS Mann any day of the week. These communist uncles and their communist children have no knowledge on Gurbani, reject Sikh history, and slander real Sants and scholars of Sikhi. They have small minds that cannot comprehend the vastness of Sikhi.

  44. The protests against Proff Bhullar's execution have had success that's why the Downing St protest stopped. The UK Govt is to raise its opposition to the execution of Sikhs with India All those that have been involved in lobbies, camped out Downing St well done. http://timesofindia....w/21666075.cms? Will ask India to commute Bhullar's death: UK govt to Sikh delegation Kounteya Sinha, TNN | Aug 7, 2013, 03.16 AM IST LONDON: A British foreign office minister on Tuesday told Sikhs that UK will ask India to drop the death penalty against Davinderpal Singh Bhullar. Hugo Swire Britain's minister for India in the foreign office met Sikh representatives with Lord Indarjit Singh of Wimbledon and discussed the case of Bhullar whose appeal for his death sentence to be commuted was rejected by India's Supreme Court on April 12. They said, "If India executes Bhullar it will signal to the world that it is backward and prepared to eliminate all Sikh prisoners." Swire told the delegation that UK was against the death penalty in all circumstances. Swire said UK will monitor the case of Bhullar closely "as we will in all cases where the death penalty has been given as a sentence". He further said that UK will call on the Indian government to reintroduce a moratorium on the death penalty, with a view to formal abolition. "We are against death penalty and we aren't changing that," Swire had told TOI recently.

  45. Only good things come out of this type of street parchar. Even if the person just learns a few things about Sikhi, that it is a independent religion and not the same as Islam then he has achieved more in s few minutes than a Gurdwara costing millions has achieved in a decade. It is not just the person who the parcharak is speaking to that will learn something new, chances are there will be occasions when she will use her knowledge to teach her friends or family perhaps when they pass a Gurdwara or interact with a Sikh person. So it's a win-win situation. It is probably needed more in the USA and Canada but we in the UK should not become complacent. I remember in the 80s in school we were taught by a female teacher who knew about Sikhs because she used to be in the army in India during World War 2. I lose count of how many elderly white people I have met in the UK who know about Sikhs due to their having served in the army. Unfortunately these people are dying out now and we need to inform the new generation of people of the UK of what Sikhi is.

  47. I see your point, but then me and Dhunda would also agree on drugs and female foeticide is wrong. Ask yourself why did he pick out Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji Maharaj Barsi out of everything else going on? I have been discussing with this manipulative person for a very long time. Recently we had a huge discussion on Kumbh mela , where he viciously protected this ritual that goes against Sikhi. Look at the date when Kumbh mela takes place and ask yourself is it similar to Sahibzada Shaheedi days? He never mentioned once that with my vicious protection of this ritual I am on this SIKH YOUTH site overshadowing Sahibzada divas or that those Sikhs who attend this strictly taking part in the bathing and devi puja have overshadowed Sahibzada divas. Instead he protected what Satguru said don't do. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/69741-and-so-the-kumbh-mela-begins/page-1 So why pick out Sant ji's Barsi and target Taksal Singhs. There is nothing wrong with Taksal Singhs or AKJ Singhs. This poster first attacked AKJ future Singhs, in the past and now is on a rampage to attack Taksal future Singhs. The Taksal Singhs and AKJ Singhs of today are doing wonderful things with the youth. Most importantly they are doing katha in english and then attaching the english speaking youth to Gurmukhi and Gurbani. Now ask yourself which Gurmukh paved the path for these Taksal Singhs to teach in english. Ask yourself who told these Taksal Singhs to get good jobs and spread Sikhi? Ask yourself who instilled Nirmata into these Taksal Singhs through his actions? This poster has never sat with or served with Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji Maharaj for the Khalsa Panth. Ask those Singhs that served with him or were under Baba ji's guidance. We speak about Bhai Kanhaiya ji as hes only in the past. Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji Maharaj is the Bhai Kanhaiya ji of our times. Baba ji taught humility to the Singhs under his guidance and today because of Baba ji's guidance these Taksal Singhs are doing an awesome job. So Taksal Singhs will do Sant ji's Barsi and will also remember Sahibzada Shaheedi. Baba ji has taught Taksal Singhs better and the poster is just out to target Taksal Singhs. The poster has found out that i can say Baba ji is good, but now those that were under his guidance are bad. By saying this he hits two birds with one stone. He wins points by saying Baba ji is good and then takes sangat away from Taksal Singhs to attach them to his twisted thinking of Kumbh mela. If i wanted I could go on for days what the Nanaksar sangat is actually doing wrong on many levels. But i got no ill intentions like this poster.

  48. Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh! We have been working on a new app called iGurdwara. It is currently made for iOS (iPhone, iPod, iPad) and Android devices. It will be available on other devices (Blackberry, Windows Phone 7) soon. The app should be complete and submitted to the app store by 1st July 2011. However the android app, even though it is made shall not be released for a while, the reason being is because I haven't got an android device to test it on at this moment of time, and do need to test it for bugs/errors, screen sizes and etc. This app will locate the nearest Gurdwaras to you, so say you have gone to a different town/city, you can view the nearest gurdwaras to you. You can even search for Gurdwaras near a place before you go to that area. Each Gurdwara will get their own profile on the app, the Gurdwara's will be able to send people (if they wish to receive them) push notifications of the events to there local Gurdwara. So for example, if you wanted to stay up to date at what's happening at your gurdwara, you would subscribe to your local gurdwaras profile and every time they have an event you will get an update, for example if there is a camp happening at your local gurdwara, it will pop up on your screen letting you know there is a camp happening. You don't need to have the app open to receive these notifications. You can also listen to live audio from your local gurdwara if they have it, (if they dont have it and wish to have it then please contact me and we can set it up for you). Please view the video below for a quick demo of the app so far, please note it is not complete yet, however please give us feedback if you would like certain features added or if you want things changed in the app. Also please contact me if you would like to be a beta tester for this app and all future Sikhee based apps, we currently have 5 other apps in development which we shall give info on in due course, however if you would like to help out then please do let me know. Please view the below video, a better video shall be made soon once the final version of the app is made, the final video shall have a voice over and describe the app in full detail. (View pictures of the app on Facebook here: http://www.facebook....100002110308711 ) More info: http://www.TatKhalsa.com/apps/igurdwara/ So basically please give suggestions and criticize to the max to the app can be improved, also please submit new app ideas! Thanks! Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!
