  1. Yes there are some such sikhs and they are wrong if they think they are better the everyone else, but there are also many judgemental moneh who look for negative things in amritdharis but can not see their own faults, there main arguments is we are are not amritdhari so its ok for us to do / be the way we are, my answer to this is why is it ?, you refuse to follow your Guru's basic teachings e.g. do not cut your hair, Drink alcohol, smoke etc but you point the finger at people who are trying to follow Guru ji but do have faults because no one is perfect except Waheguru / Guru ji (who are the one and the same). We should not look at other peoples faults but look at our own. There are many good amritdhari sikhs out there who do some excellent work like Bhai Jugraj Singh ji of basics of sikhi who do not think they are better than any one else and are trying to help the youth, look at the positive people and the negative in yourself. No offence intended but i too get fed up of judgemental moneh always criticizing amritdharis, why dont they take amrit and show everyone how it should be done, rather than look at the faults in amritdharis!

  4. http://www.sikh24.com/2013/12/a-brief-biography-of-bhai-gurbakhsh-singh-khalsa-haryana/#.Up6ZMNJDvGA Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa is today’s hero of the Sikh freedom struggle who has energized and mobilized the freedom movement by demonstrating unprecedented determination and commitment in sacrificing himself for the release of Sikh freedom fighters who are still behind bars, even though their jail terms have been completed. Bhai Khalsa was born on December 12, 1965 at Thaska Ali (Distt. Kurukshetra, Haryana). His father’s name is Jathedar Ajit Singh and his mother is Bibi Mohinder Kaur. He has two brothers and one sister. He took primary and Gurmat education from Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib and also took Amrit from there. During his childhood, he used to take a keen interest in Gurmat due to the pro-Gurmat environment in his family. Whenever any religious congregation was held, he used to sing poems on the Chhote Sahibzade. Although he was a Gursikh from his childhood, he became dedicated completely to the Sikh nation after meeting Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and from then on he began to spread Sikhi. The then rulers did not tolerate his mission and he was arrested in 1982. However, he kept on fulfilling his duties. He was married to Bibi Jasbir Kaur in 1987 with Gur Maryada and they were blessed with a son who was named Jujhar Singh. In 1986 to 1987, when the Indian state imposed a ban on the wearing of Kesri (orange) turbans by Sikhs, he was apprehended for some time for raising his voice against the ban. In 1994, once again he was arrested for allegedly delivering a so-called “radical” lecture. Afterwards, he was taken by police when they framed him in 10 new false cases. He remained in Police remand for almost two months and his wife was also humiliated and harassed. In 2010, Bhai Khalsa was awarded with 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fined 25,000 Rupees. For a small duration he was kept in Ambala Jail but he spent most of the time in Modern Jail Chandigarh. In Modern Jail, he met Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Jagtar Singh Bheora. Bhai Khalsa has severely suffered from the dual standards of the Indian state and he knows very well which conditions are being faced by the jailed Sikhs. Notwithstanding the completion of jail terms, they are decaying in jails and the unjust government is not releasing them. Bhai Khalsa says that the main motive of his fast is to get the detained Sikhs released from their political prisons and following the vision of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale is his main duty. 5. Nam is another term for Shabad. Nam is the same as Wahiguru also. Nam is a level of consciousness, all mighty, all bliss and all pervading. This Nam, in christians is known as the "Word", the chinese call it "Tao", and the muslims know it as "Kun". This Nam is a creator power also, as the bani Says: Shabde dhartee, Shabde Akash, Shabde Shabad hoa parkash; Nanak, Shabad, ghate ghat aachey. This means, the Shabad, created the earth, the Sky, and from it cometh forth the Light . So we can see, how well and clear our Guru Sahibans, describe that Supreme Power; because Wahiguru is beyond our dirty, poor and limited mind. This Nam or Shabad is a life force, which is present everywhere and in everything, when it withdraws from some being, death ocurrs, and we say it is dead. The same, when it withdraws from the different planes or universes, Parlay and Maha Parlay happen. This Nam or Shabad is above Kal Purukh, and all different gods and godesses, are but just His servants. He alone, He is. This Nam is present in everyone, one ray of that power, is known is as soul. The Bani says: Ek Noor, se sabh Jag upjay. This means, from the One Light, the whole creation was made and brought into existence. This Nam or Shabad is a divine melody also, can be heard and seen by the soul, through a proper jugtee or technique, that is why Sachay Badshah Sree Guru Amar Das in Anand Sahib says: Nam jinke man vaseh, vajey Shabad ganere. At other place it is stated:Anter Jot, Niranter Bani, Saachay Sahib siu liv lae, this means, there is light and melody in the Shabad, and that by listening to it, true love is generated in the soul, for wahiguru Akal Purukh. This Nam or Shabad, is the true Amrit, the true Bani, to which Sree Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj, says that by listening to it, all our impurities and sins are washed away, that is why in Jap Ji Sahib, He says: Suniye, paap, dukh sabh naas. This means, listen to this paviter Bani, and all your sins which are the cause of your miseries and pain, shall be erased. The glory of Nam or Shabad, can never ever be described in words.... Better, we act according to the instructions of our Guru Sahibans through the Bani, and taste the bliss from it, which flows in each and everyone within us.

  7. Babbar Sher of Punjab Shrimaan Shashikant ji Ex DGP Punjab! I found it shameful to see a non-Sikh roar like a lion in support of our Singhs, and our "Panthic aagoos" were speaking softly as if singing a Bollywood song. The part that almost shed a drop from my eye was at 4:54 "Sant ikko e hege ne", that was just too powerful, especially from a non-Sikh former cop former intelligence official!

  9. Reading Suraj Parkash Granth on the Punj Pyare there is a variation of the sakhi told around this huge event in the Khalsa Panth. One of the biggest difference is around what or who was beheaded in the tent when the Punj Sikhs stepped up to give their head. Many take Suraj Parkash Granth as the Gospel truth, but Gursikhs do not take this view of Suraj Parkash Granth. One of these Gusikhs was last seen defending Sri Akaal Takht Sahib against the Indian government and its forces of Indian army. Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa was not only a great warrior but also very learned in understanding Gurbani and Sikhi all together. The writer of Suraj Parkash Granth, Bhai Santokh Singh ji writes that Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji asked for heads from the Guru's sangat. Once the first Sikh presented his head to Guru ji. Guru ji took the Sikh behind the tenet and instead of beheading the SIkh. Guru Gobind Singh Ji beheaded a goat and the Guru's sangat thought that the Guru had beheaded the Sikh. However Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa does not agree with this view and says that Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji behead the Punj Pyare. In the Khalsa Panth many are venomously targeting others for not accepting Suraj Parkash Granth as the gospel truth. This does not just happen on the internet, but in person. I hold the view of Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa. Which is not everything in Suraj Parkash Granth is the gospel truth and the writer has made some mistakes. However many are scared that if we say that the writer made a mistake in one portion. Then all of Suraj Parkash Granth will be rejected by majority of the Khalsa Panth. I believe such individuals are paranoid and do not understand the depth of damage they are doing by supporting something as the gospel truth when it is not. On page 200 of Suraj Parkash Granth, Bhai Santokh Singh ji says that Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji beheaded goats. It would be very foolish to say that all of this Granth is the gospel truth and it will be equally foolish to say that all of Suraj Parkash Granth is full of lies based on one mistake. I hold the view that Gursikhs have done a inspection of this Granth and they accepted what matched with Gurbani and rejected what was not in agreement with Gurbani Here is the link to the reference in Suraj Parkash Granth on page 200: http://www.ik13.net/PDFS/Rut3.pdf

  15. You get the same in both boats. There are some monay, who feel that they are not restricted, so they can do what they want. At the same time they give impressions that the amritdharis are tied down and have to stick to their rehat -They look at this in a degrading manner. On the other had, there are full pagh- dhari and amritdhari sikhs that may not pay too much attention to monas and tend to ignore them....but this is not the picture as a whole. Some of these feelings do come quite naturally and we all have to try to not be prejudice. I know , because i was a mona all my life for over 35 years and back then i would always see a singh as a singh. This means that i always gave my natural respect to a paghwala Singh, whether they had full dhari/trimmed, amritdhari or not... However, now that I haven't cut my hair in a few years, i notice that whenever I am out and i see a Singh with a trimmed beard- I naturally think to myself '' he trims it !''. Sometimes, i get a taxi and when i see a full sardar, i feel a natural sense of being more relaxed. I know it's a little nauhghty, but i have to tell myself to be Equal and Fair. These are natural weaknesses that we all have but we have to confront them and admit them to ourselves to be able to conquer them. If someone out there claims that they are NOT inclined to some sort of prejudice, then they are only lying to themselves and making their own battle with the 5 chor even harder.

  18. That's a good post by Harsharan, and it is very much with my interpretation and understanding. :biggrin2: Sometimes, I have thought about the 'Shabad' being the vibration of Naam, but i haven't delved into that too much to explore further. I am aware that radhasoamis call 'Naam' a gurmantar that they give you when initiated and you have to keep it secret ! :omg: Don't get confused thinking that this is what naam is ! You could say that the idea if Naam is misused slightly here according to gurmat gurbani. Suki, this is because some of these deras and jathabandis cause confusion and sometimes even claim that ''you can only get the real naam from us!!" However, let's not divert the topic into other dera definitions or the usual bashing that some us love to jump to. Simran345 has raised a very valuable question here and it took me a long time to fully comprehend the true meaning of shabad and naam.

  20. Simple- don't concentrate on forehead wherever you concentrate on the body, thats where breath flow or energy will flow wherever breath is thats where mind is and vice versa... so if forehead tingling is uncomfortable concentrate on lower areas in the body you will notice after some practice of couple of hours- it won't bother you anymore its gone as mind nor breath is not attuned to that area. Don't concentrate on forehead or third eye yet- advance stage in shabad surat- come back in normal stage/realm doing jaap with swas in and swas out.

  28. heres a brilliant comment posted by a muslim lady on the video posted by the dawahdude Fatima P. 7 minutes ago Dawah Man, you talk in neo-orthodox sound bytes and bits using trite Zakir Naik/Ahmed Deedat type rhetoric trying appeal to some sort of "logic." Listening to your words is like eating chalk. If you want to preach the Beauty and Truth in Islam you need the heart of a Sufi and the mind of a philosopher. This Sikh gentleman has such a heart and mind. You can hear the touch of God on him more than on you. It should feel as if cool water is rushing over the heart when you talk about the Quran...abandon these trite "proofs" and "examples." A lot of our modern rhetoric lacks the insight of those who seek tasawwuf, 'irfaan, and philosophic thinking. These things will put beauty in your heart and words. And if you had that in your heart you would feel no need to debate Sikhs or anyone else because you would know that we are all fingers on the same hand or branches on the same tree seeking God. You would work on perfecting your own soul. You would study the GGS of the Sikhs to improve your the Islam in your heart rather than to debate Sikhs and prove them "wrong."

  33. I would like to see more proactive sikhs like jagroop singh, because, let's face it, very few sikhs can actually give a reasonable explanation of what sikhi is to non-sikhs. i have had a similiar experience to this, when my friend from pakistan wanted me to convert to islam. i told him lets have a debate, if you can convince me that islam is superior (his words, the usual talk, islam is the superior true divine faith) i will become a muslim, but if you fail you have to become a sikh. he agreed and we debated for over 2 hours, covering many of the things that jagroop singh covered, and when he saw that he was failing, he legged it. didnt even say "see you". just plain ran off. saw him a few days later, and he said he would bring around a couple of white converts to talk to me, i told him the same thing, if they fail to convince me, they have to become sikhs. he never brought them around, prolly afraid they might end up becoming at best disiilusioned with their new faith, and worst, becoming sikhs. The dawah tactics( and christian tactics) is something that we need to discuss in sikh circles more, so more and more sikhs know how to respond, rather than get suckered. this video may just be the turn and the spark that we needed. Good on ya bro!

I could see that Dawa Man for a few seconds was getting drawn in when Jugraj talking about naam before he snapped himself out of it and got back into dawa mode. Particularly when Jugraj mentioned about reciting the 99 names for Allah. At a subconscious level, Dawa's jot was ignited and he knows deep inside what Jugraj was saying. But Islamic Pride and Pakismo and having his biraders around will mean he cannot admit it. I think that if Jugraj spent more time with him, he would have penetrated through the Taqqiyah shield

  38. Good job, traditional samparda's always have the above understanding (as listed in video) from spiritual aspect or by looking at grand scheme of things. Whilst there were gurmat theological differences between mool mantar lengths they never mixed gurmat scholary theological discussion done behind the scenes with sikh spiritual sadhana/efforts regarding doing jaap of mool mantar and above mantars regardless of lengths and made bold statements those who does jaap up to gurparsad - all will go to hell.

  39. "It's not about counting rhetorical devices"...(Jagraj Singh) Debate over. Seriously, what was he going on about? 10 words prove it's God's work? What? The thing that proves Sikhi is the best is how it doesn't need to prove it is the light for the world. It doesn't need to claim that it will save mankind. One just has to read a few angs of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and they will realise this treasure is here for the whole world, "Jagat Guru".

  40. Guru Sahib tells us debates are of no spiritual value and account for nothing when we die and are presented in front of the court of Dharamraaj.. Then no debate will matter. Guru Sahib doesn't tell us not to debate, but instead not to pursue debate. Bhai Jagraj Singh debated in a GurSikh manner and did not attack, but instead defend the teachings of Guru Sahib. Jagraj Singh knows all the attack points and fallacies, but he chose not to address them.

  42. Bhaiji's I have seen the entire video that has been (mis)quoted and can assure anyone who has not seen it that Sant Jarnail Singh Ji does or never had said anything against Sri Gurpratap Suraj Granth. The quote in question clears the situation regarding the beheading of our Panj Piarrai by stating that they were indeed beheaded and anyone with any doubts should find the evidence of where and from whom and for how much money was the supposed goats acquired. Sant Ji then demands that noone should consider the beheading phoney as that would be outright denying the magic of Sri Dasam Pitta's Khalsa Revelation and would be accusing him of being a pakhandi, which will not be tolerated. AT NO TIME IN THIS VIDEO OR ANYTIME IN HIS LIFE DID SHAHEED SANT JARNAIL SINGH KHALSA BHINDRA'WALE SPEAK AGAINST SRI GURPRATAP SURAJ GRANTH!!!!!!!!!!! To even suggest such a thing is preposterous. Rewriting history by this poster has shown us all that some people will see and hear only what they want to fit their (NAZI) particular agenda.........Stop trying to out Sikhi everyone and realise that learning is not simply from reading but by comprehending and keeping an open mind when interacting with the world around us!!! Past posts along with the tone and derogatory content of them has now proven beyond doubt that this child has alot to learn, Satkar of fellow students would be a start. Maybe, apologise and move on??

  43. Adam and Eve is a mythological story. One must realize that some religions use two powerful tools of Fear and Guilt on people for propagating their beliefs. So Adam and Eve story was created to say that they committed the original sin and now somehow we are also sinners and we can only be redeemed by their savior because he died for our sins. See the plot.
