The Sikh Federation seem to be sticking their nose into the Hindu Muslim affairs. This is a lobby group that is supposed to represent Sikh interests. Both Islamists and Hinduvatis are not our friends and our lobby groups should butt out.

Some of them are nothing more than suckups for gore, the "Sikh studies" crowd, or missionaries. The new skin looks good. I think that a lot of boards have setting to ban Unicode characters because some malicious posters use weird Unicode to mess up the board formatting. I wonder if it would be possible to restrict to Gurmukhi characters. The only other characters possibly required would be Devnagri (to post occasional Hindu works) and Arabic (to post Bhai Nand Lal ji in the original). Though that would be extremely rare.

I would love for Sikh artists to create realistic paintings showing Guru Sahibs (those who fought on the battlefield) wearing full armour, etc. The previous century's artwork was good, but it didn't show the nitty gritty hardships of actual warfare. If you took those paintings at face value, you'd believe Sikhs would take to the battlefield wearing decorative cotton and silks, lol. Showing stuff like armour, etc, would ground our relatively recent history in a reality that would make it much more relatable to younger Sikhs who wanted to learn about our history.

the schools and govt. should work on fixing this problem (Bullying). banning a Kirpan will not solve or prevent an incidents like this happening again. Sikh society in Australia and around the world is well respected and banning a Kirpan making Sikh society very upset and disappointed. A lot of kids commit suicide because of bullying.

Honestly, I don't know if private schools are allowed in that area. If they are then the population of Sikhs have to be examined. Then full time teachers and all that stuff has to be put into place. The population of Sikhs are increasing at a high rate in Australia so a Sikh school could possibly be a possibility.

The sikh kid stabbed the other kid after multiple incidents of bullying. Then that kid removed the sikh kid's dastar so he got stabbed. The injuries were minor. It would have been better if the kid had not taken the kirpan out and used something else instead.

The only viable long term solution would be having our own institutions where we can practice Khalsa Rehit in a free manner. Otherwise, concessions granted today for Kirpans can be revoked tomorrow. All they need is ONE incident to undo decades of responsible practice on our part. From our side, should we hold off giving our Amritdhari kids Kirpans until they reach college at age 16 -17? I know it sounds controversial, but what are sangat's opinions? I mean we already have to present our case as "Kirpans are not weapons" in order to be granted the privilege.

With maharajs apaar kirpa beant kirpa, I have been doing my nitnem and practicing to tie a dastaar and become vegetarian. I still can't properly tie a dastaar yet. I have been begging for Amrit for so long. Some days I feel so upset because I still haven't been blessed with Amrit. But I do manage console myself with telling myself to be patient and have trust. I really don't know but at this moment I feel my soul is dying without amrit or without maharajs bani. Any bani, keertan, simran that I recite, I feel it's not enough and I can't get over it. I just went to the gurdwara yesterday and I feel like running there back again. I will wait for maharaj to do his kirpa. Sometimes for paapi like me to walk on Maharaj's hukam is quite hard. I know maharaj has heard me and will definitely fulfil my one and only desire to take Amrit.

hi mate try to read Gurbani and Sikhi code of conduct. read stuff and Guru Ji's history and try to know the reasons behind it. like Langar meaning and purpose of it and helping others etc. staying with reht mariyada. most of the things we do in sikhism are very straightforward and they make sense as soon as you start to read and doing them.

Given that Indian /eastern society tends to push the faith of the father onto the kids as the only choice , which my folks were also worried about because of relatives speaking that way I can see how an unconverted male would be an unknown quantity and there would be a huge risk of apostacy from sikhi if the female is not versed or willing to bring up her kids in sikhi . In my case, we had to talk through such future things as a couple and in the gurdwara when we got married we made an explicit promise to bring up kids in Sikhi . Maybe it was just us because any other marriage I had seen there no granthi etc ever gave that sikhiya. In the case of the mona punjabi , the couple should have been offered the marriage course like catholics do before the anand karaj so that they know just what they are entering, promising etc and then decide if they will try for anand Karaj by devoting themselves to Guru ji . Being a sikh is a privilege not a right ...so let's give it the respect it deserves As I heard in a video yesterday "these days sikhs say why do we need to have amrit , guys. Since those places aren't public people can get away with doing interfaith Anand Karaj. The only public gurdwara in Hayes is Ramgharia gurdwara, and there would probably be protests there!

hard to judge someone's faith! there are people who are born into Sikh families and do Anand Karaj, they also drink at their weddings and many get divorce too... this is also Guru Ji's beadbi.... so my point is wherever we see or observe that there is something not right according to Guru maryada, we should report and speak up! doesn't matter they are Sikh or non Sikh.

It's not allowed for a Sikh to disagree with or disregard Gurbani. It is fully allowed for a Sikh to disregard episodes from these history books according to his buddhi. Do you acknowledge that? These Granths are masterpieces in their own right. All of the major scholars in our Panth, state that these Granths have been adulterated in some way. Are we expected to believe, that the Guru, who can cut the head of his Sikh, and then bring him back to life. Are we expected to believe that, the Guru is incapable of removing pain from his Sikhs?
