  1. I am curious to know what would one call their father's mama in Punjabi? Also what would one call their father's Nana?

  2. Par-Nana, I think. I don't know if there's a differentiation of terms between mother's nana and father's nana, though.

  3. This kind of mob violence is something us Sikhs try to avoid as much as possible, we are very reluctant. The other 2 communities love to indulge in it. But I think I may have mentioned this before but I think our propensity for violence when unleashed is something to behold because when we lose it we really lose it. It's like a person who has a long fuse and very rarely lose their temper but they are very hard to control once it is lost. I think many of us Sikh somewhere inside know this about our nature. We are not scared of others per se but we are more afraid of what we become. Like in 1947, we unleashed far more destruction on the muslims but it disgusts us and we hated for doing what we had to do, whereas they don't have any feelings of guilt at all of the things they did. We are wired differently. I think if neuroscientists did tests on us Sikhs compared to the other communities I imagine the neuroscientists would confirm this. I think we probably operate on a different vibration/frequency. We clearly operate at a far higher avasta and then we have to lower ourselves to a more more primitive level. We may all come from the same part of the world and share some ancestory and dna/ heritage etc but I honestly believe that we have diverged from the other 2 communities in a lot of intangible ways.

  4. There's a berserker lurking quietly in most of us that emerges given enough provocation.

  5. 1947 is also an example. We were heavily outnumbered by muslims in Punjab but inflicted more damage on them than vice versa. Again it was them who started it. The muslims breed like rabbits but what they don't realise is how much poverty it causes them.

  6. The muslims cannot really do much in Leicester so they picked an easy target in Birmingham. And they use what they are good at which is the numbers game. I wish there was a community that breeds at higher rates than the muslims so that when the muslims try to get their numbers that they get out-numbered by another community. As to your post that you mentioned about us Sikhs being outnumbered by mobs from other communities is that although we are quite a docile race, we have a knack of being extremely well organised and disciplined when the time comes and this bodes well when tackling an unruly mob particularly when being outnumbered. It's like some kind of dormant gene that gets activated. You saw how quickly our community galvanised during 2011 riots, how quickly during the Kisaan protests. Like MrrSingh said we are a walking contradiction.

  7. From what happened last week it looked like the Hindus started it and the muslims ended up on top with what happened in Birmingham. You're right apne don't really bully minorities, we are racist though. I can't blame the Hindus to some extent when it comes to suls. Their leadership let them down big time allowing huge amounts of suls to stay behind after partition. We've been fortunate to have an almost sul free Punjab, we only know what suls are like due to living next to them in the west. Punjab has the lowest percentage of suls in all of India. Suls like to push the boat to see what they can get away with and when they go too far like they did in Myanmar recently, the majority community finally has enough and retaliate. If they were a community that kept their head down and worked hard no one would hate them but they just try to push their way of life on all of us. They have conflicts with every other religion.

  10. The fareed whose bani is in sggs is the 27h fareed of the lineage. Guru sahib met him. And yes guru sahib met all the bhagats and they were sikhs. Where kabeer mentions satguru he means guru sahib

  11. Maybe go get a checkup but this stuff happens in bhagti. Theres no point in specifics but its natural. It depends on what avasta you reach which corresponds to that body part

  12. Look i agree with you on most things, i just think we shouldn’t be so brash with showing our dirty laundry on a public forum when we know potential sikhs and other faiths are lurking our sites

  14. Guru sahib supported people marrying in the same biradhri because they came from the same background and lifestyle. Even in charitropakhyan mahraj gives lessons that you should marry ppl of same age, background etc. one lesson is an old guy cant keep a young woman for long

  15. Yea alot of guys on here are playing victim and blaming women for being promiscuous or sexually free. Have some empathy and see what women have to go through as well. I guranttee there are good women nor all are looking to screw ppl over

  16. Is it wise to share such detailed household problems out in the open? If any other sikh from mumbai uses this forum and pieces together your profile, it could cause you much grief if they out you, no? Genuinely saying this, since you do want to keep your orientation undercover. Apart from giving random people some entertainment, I doubt you sharing your regular problems is of any help for yourself. Maybe being more anonymous would have been helpful from the get go. This is my general observation and not pointed towards the quote.

  17. Look, Punjabi Pakistani Muslims, Indian Muslims are not really any different from Mirpuri and Afghanistan Muslims. Get that in your heads people. Who are the dodgy-est people in Europe? The Albanians, Bosnians and Chechens. There are North African grooming gangs in France, Holland, Belgium. Turkish ones in Germany. Lebanese ones in Australia. Only one thing links these people together.

  18. The thing is the muslim population outside of michigan, east coast and san diego is not much. And america encourages blending in so our cultures arent that divided. Theres more middle easterners in america than pakistanis. And theyre usually more educated
    1 point
  19. The thing is in America we didnt get the mirpurie and coupled with the fact that the population of sikhs and ppl in general are spread apart you dont really hear about it. Also alot of newer immigrants to usa are educated. The early immigrants to uk were laborers and that just exacerbated the problem of communication. In usa you hear of kids doing stuff but theres no word of organized grooming because most pakistanis here are punjabi and educated.

  20. living abroad though i dont think apneh really face any problems from suls as we can hold our own with the exception of the uk where we r a very small minority wherever the numbers r even u never see this ie Canada, usa,N.Z

  22. Lol, some of our people are like naive children. They either leave, live in fear, or somehow find a community where its tolerant. No other choices.

  26. I think stuff like desi bethaks is really important to do. I left my dumbbells in the garage and keep forgetting to bring them into the house. I have got a kettleball in my room/office and use that, you can kind of do indian club exercises with kettleballs as well. I keep another kettleball in an upstairs room in case I feel like doing a short workout.

  27. Don't feel guilty. When I started working out at home I was tying a meter's parna. However, I resorted to patka only a week later as it felt right n appropriate to me. Been a year now since exercising with a single dumbbell. For making muscles visible a healthy diet is a must, so sadly I don't have those muscles, though my strength has grown.

  28. exactly. I think they were under British rule too long in Africa, and compromised their rehit. I mean even those who have taken Pahul wear these starch topis. They also compromised their rehit by super-fixo'ing up their darhis, and I have seen this has resulted in their grandchildren in uk just trimming their beards to achieve a similar look! It's a shame they kept these anti-rehit looks even after leaving the angrej army.... Also it wasn't just the men, when the women came to uk they were seen as notorious for having haircut and drinking according to the indian sikh aunties last century - and the families related to the starched pagh walay were seen as being overly-liberal. So compromising the pagh and turning it into a starch topi was just the start, this lead to a downward spiralling of values for both genders while they were living under the gora masters, overly-liberal adharmik values. In the 2000s it used to shock me seeing Hi5 and Facebook family pictures with fathers and sons with starch pagh and fixo'ed up darhis and with the daughters dressed all nanghi and trashy. Although it's no longer shocking in the 2020s as sikh families have become desensitised somewhat, actually who am I kidding - it is still shocking to see a sardar family like that put up public photos, the SHAME!
    1 point
  29. but I think the point of starching the pagh is to shape it so as to use it as a topi.
    1 point
  30. The thing is that most ppl that wear starched paggs take them off like hats. so theyre nanga-sir during the night. One time my grandpa had to leave his house at night and because he wears starched, he was nanga-sir and had to find another pagg the next day.
    1 point
  31. I would say that starched Paghs are better for the Kenyan style. It only becomes a topi if you treat it as one (e.g: take of like a hat rather than not doing the larh to larh).

  32. I agree with @proactive bhaji/bhenji, unless theres something you dont know or arent telling that is a red flag, this seems likes a good proposal. so the problem is physical attraction? Well that never remains constant. The body starts to age and then what should you be attracted to? What is that you cant get past? Try to see her values and character. Thats what stays mostly
    1 point
  33. Get a grip man, Toon Banda k' Pajama? How do you know you won't get attracted to this girl when you share the rest of your life with her. There's instant attraction and love and then there is love which takes time to manifest itself and which builds up over time as you become a couple and then a family with kids. It's the second type of love which lasts a lifetime and not the first. Unless there is someone else then I don't see what your problem is. Also I don't think you can MAKE yourself fall in love with someone.

  34. There are probably answers to this but it wouldn't be politically correct.

  35. Funny because alot of science and math was advanced by muslims. And these scholars translated greek philosophers yea i think dharam has more understanding of the unseen world. But from a sikh perspective. According to the karam of the parents and child their sanbandh will take place including the childs gender

  46. 155 injuries, 3 days of torture, shaved beard and turban removed. Over £20? Those "Sikhs" really do live and die with "anakh" up there in Tividale, I must say. Furthermore, why only 3 comments on such a gruesome murder? Strange isn't it? Maybe because it's "Sikh-on-Sikh".... http://www.expressandstar.com/news/crime/2012/11/15/three-found-guilty-over-killing-of-father/
