We keep falling for the same trap each and every time. A Sikh who tries to lift the Panth and Punjab out of his deep and endless abyss we entered into many decades ago will always face more opposition from apnay than even our enemies. All those who are questioning how Amritpal Singh has achieved so much support and a base is Punjab do not understand the power of social media. Social media has caused revolutions in many countries such as the Arab Spring, do these people not know how much social media influences our community in Punjab. The youth these are very engaged with social media and social media has been used to create branches of supporters in many villages and this they are able to mobilise the youth to attend rallies with Amritpal Singh. Simranjit Singh Mann's victory was very much due to the use of social media by our youth. Another reason why Amritpal Singh has captured centre stage is that the Panth and especially the youth have in the last few years become much more grounded in reality and started to cleanse itself of the liberal BS that the likes of Ravi Singh and United Sikhs have bought into Sikhi. He talks unapologetically about how he wants Khalsa Raj just as Hindus openly talk of Hindu Rashtra, the youth wanted a leader who talks in such a manner and not some pyjamay talking constantly about helping others and Sarbat Da Bhalla. The opposition to Amritpal Singh is because he has done more for the Panth in the last few months than all our paper tigers combined in the last three decades. Look at Kuki Gill, he has been badmouthing Amritpal Singh for the last few weeks because since his release in 2009 his achievements for the Panth have been a big fat zero. He keeps harping on about how he sacrificed his career and how he is so highly educated as if no other Kharkoo sacrificed their entire families for the Panth and all he has sacrificed is his career.2 points

It's hard to understand your whole tale, but there's a reason many Sikhs feel employment is slavery. Wherever you work, try to save up money and become financially independent. Perhaps open your own business. A Sikh (or any man) can never truly be free working for someone else.1 point

Are you Turban wearing Sikh? If you are then you represent all Sikhs out there. Wearing turban you represent the whole community. Even in this kalyug it is dog eat dog world but still being in saroop of Sikhi, It is a very big responsibility and we have to tread very carefully out there. Whatever happened, let it be begone. Continue to keep in touch with your old boss. Give him some good gift as an appreciation for helping you starting your career.1 point

Nothing shocking about that, all the rich evade taxes. Every single rich [Sikh] you see does some form of tax evasion. Difficult to become rich without that. He will not go to jail, mark my words.1 point

That depends if they really want to believe or not. Modern atheists nowadays when you interview them and ask what would make you believe, they don't give and answer. Why because they don't want to be believe. We don't need to force or make others believe but if they do want to know then we can tell them to experience. It's a personal journey remember. Well if the universe is infinite then before this day could dawn, the day before had to dawn. But before that day, you'd have to get another day. And before that you'll need another day. Why? because before the present moment could ever dawn you'd need and infinite number of days before that moment. No moment could ever dawn. We are here now in the present therefore there was a beginning of the universe. Now we have established a beginning which is also backed up by science (big bang). Now what caused the beginning/creation. It can't be nothing because nothing gives rise to nothing. It - the beginner - must also be self existant (as stated in the mool mantar), powerful to be able to create and make something as amazing as the universe. We can go on but I think you'll be able to see that this is evidence of creation. Maybe... lol. Depends, God knows and is the one that can touch their hearts.1 point

I would personally say yes. Your own experiences of Anand and bliss of Naam will prove to you undoubtedly. The Mahapurkhs have got to such a state in their Abhiyaas that they don't need to ask the question anymore. They know and are one with them. For example Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir and Baba Harnaam Singh ji Raamphur Khere Wale. How many special events are associated with them? How many times have miraculous events occur? You can say that there is a small probability of chance etc. but miracle after miracle, Kirpa after Kirpa stacks up and really the odds of it not being the Creator's are impossible. Just read their Sakhis, the great miracles that have happened in Sri Harimander Sahib, Shaheed Singhs, effect of Paath. It can't be by chance. You can also prove something transcendent exists: The universe has a beginning, The being that created it must beyond space time and matter otherwise you lead yourself into an infinite loop which reduces to absurdity. Therefore we have just concluded that the beginner of creation must be at least transcendent. Also a point on your emotions. I don't need to prove anger, pain or bliss exist. You're able to feel them, same with Naam. Whenever you may get thoughts like this just remember the Sants.1 point

Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa Vaheguru ji ki Fateh ji I'm not sure if you already read these Shabads but before the 4 Rakhiya de Shabad - starting Sorath Mahalla 5 - many Gursikhs like to read these 2 Shabads. 1 point

even more, these people make Vaheguru ji into some sort of Cuddly teddy bear that is always soft and will mould into the way you hug him which is wrong. Sometimes the hug will feel like a spear or thorns going through because you to leave the world and may be laughed at doing so. Really we need to educate the people who haven't gone off the roads so they know who (and what) Vaheguru actually is and what we should be doing to please Guru Sahib so they have mercy on us.1 point

It doesn't make it right though, using your dodgy money to fund a religious venture (be it a film or something else) with the hope that you'll be absolved for your sin's under the guise of seva that is. The thing is sometimes when people do this it can come back and do more damage to them and more importantly the cause they gave the money to. Mine is a personal opinion, stuff like this doesn't sit well with me, for other's it may be more palatable.1 point

I've come to realise the black and white outlook some Sikhs cling to actually places us at a disadvantage. I'm not advocating criminality and the ends justify the means, but a little cut-throat savvy isn't necessarily a bad thing when concerned with furthering a good cause.1 point

Harry Baweja had a dream from his early days in film making that he wished to make a movie to tell the story of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s ‘Chaar Sahibzade’ to the audience in India and the wider diaspora. He took his project to many Producers but was knocked back by all them and was discouraged from making the movie which they said was too risky to finance. After numerous setbacks Harry Baweja took the project to ‘Ponty Chada’ a well known smuggler in Punjab. Ponty Chada agreed to finance the Movie without hesitation as he felt this would be a great Seva to his Faith and single handily put up the cash. I have given this example to show that good things can be achieved when we put our prejudices aside work together as a community for the betterment of our Panth.1 point

Exactly, I don't care what he does with his money in his own time but if he wants to do good for Sikhi then any money that goes in the pot has to be scrutinized.1 point
-
That would make us (and Guru ji) the exact same as the greedy Brahmins that Gurbani denounces. The Brahmin doesn't care how you made your money. He just wants a cut of it. That's not what he means by money laundering. He's not talking about making a $1000 stolen cash donation (black money), and then the Gurdwara buys $750 of your merchandise from your shop. Now you have $750 of "white money" accounted for before the government. And the corrupt Gurdwara committee has $250 in cash plus $750 of merchandise. That's money laundering. Rather, what he's talking about is earning a bunch of money through illicit means (even if they are legal in the country you are in, they may be against the rehit or spirit of our religion). Then you donate a huge amount of money to a Gurdwara, and you become known as the biggest Sikh on Earth. That's what he's talking about.1 point
-
There’s a place for people from all walks of life in our Panth. Remember Baba Bidi Chand? Guru Sahib never turned him away. I’m not condoning money earned from dishonest means but if anybody wishes to share their wealth for the betterment of Sikhi then I have no problem with that. To flip it if one earns his wealth from honest means but uses it in ways which damage the Panth is that person better than someone doing the opposite by using wealth for good causes? Also you cannot audit the Golak as it’s open for everyone. I understand what you are saying but I don’t think a good cause should be shot down. Money laundering through a Gurdwara is a strict no but I think this is a charitable donation not money laundering.1 point
-
I think if you're going to use your wealth to support a religious purpose then you need to show where the money's coming from, the amount of time I've seen people launder money through Gurdware is ridiculous.1 point

It is an inadvertent way of the Pak Govt saying " Hey Sikhs, if you want to see your Historical sites, you pay for it". The fact of the matter is that Pakistan does not get a lot of tourists in. There are growing number of Sikhs going there and Sikhs going there will spend money. It won't just be pilgrim tours, there will be knock on effect in other areas too. People who left after partition may want to see their ancestral villages.1 point

I don’t think his wealth or how he acquired it should be under scrutiny. The fact is he obviously has Sharda as he is willing to financially support causes for Sikhi. He is the same guy who made the City Gurdwara project possible by financially supporting the Gurdwara Committee. I also like the fact he supports a Dastar proudly and has a long flowing beard and hasn’t let that hold him back in success.1 point

The military commander Massa Ranghar of Mandiali village was put in charge of the Darbar Sahib. He was the most active of the Chaudries engaged in capturing and destroying Sikhs. The Harmandir Sahib was turned into a place for debauchery with nauch (dance) girls being housed their for Massa Ranghar entertainment. The use of Naquills (water pipes) was by then a daily practice for Moslems, so the odor and smoke of tobacco, a substance which Guru Gobind Singh had forbidden his Sikhs to use, now filled the halls of the Sikhs' most Holy site, the very rooms where the beloved first Holy book and the SGGS had enjoyed Prakash for years. Alcohol in wine and other forms, forbidden even by the Moslem's own Holy book the Qur'an, now flowed freely as Massa Rangar and his friends enjoyed the dancing and other activities that the nautch girls were famed for. For the Sikhs whose Bani and Holy writings forbid the use of alcohol totally this was one but one more final insult. The news that their sacred Gurdwara was now being used as a Seraglio, with wine and tobacco staining its walls and floors soon fell on the ears of a group of Sikhs living in Jaipur in Rajputana. Bhai Mehtab Singh a GurSikh of Mirankot, a village near Amritsar, was one of the first to hear this alarming news. Astonished and angered by the news he questioned the man who had just relayed the story: "You have heard of this outrage to the sacred place, and yet you still live and go about telling this news to others! Why did you not kill Massa then and there? Is there no Sikh left in Amritsar to avenge this evil?" "No", replied the messenger. "There are no Sikhs there with a greater sense of honor than those who have run away to places like Jaipur in order to save their lives." The messenger's taunt stung Bhai Mehtab Singh, a brave, strong minded and stout bodied young man, like the sting of some deadly dessert scorpion. He bolted up at once, took his sword and said: "I shall go and cut off Massa's head with this sword, and bring it here!" He saddled his horse and got ready to gallop away. A bystander who had heard the news as well Bhai Sukha Singh of the village Mardi Kambo ki offered to go along with him. Mounting their horses, they took off towards Amritsar. When they reached the sacred city, in August 1740 they noted the Mughal outposts, so they took some time to disguise themselves as Muhammadans. They filled two bags with well rounded pieces of broken earthen pots. Each of them placed one of the bags before him on the horse. They looked like harmless Muhammadan Lambardars who had come to pay their land revenue. They entered the precincts of the Gurudwara. To the guards they said, "We have to come pay land revenue to our Chaudri." Their ruse worked and they were allowed to go into the compound of the Holy Temple. Tying their horses to a ber tree outside the main gate, the ber tree to the which horses were tied still exists, and carrying their sacks of payment they entered the room where they saw Massa Ranghar. He was seated on a cot, smoking a hukka, they could tell that he was intoxicated with wine. With half closed eyes he was listening to the music of the dancing girls. The sight made their blood boil. Bhai Sukha Singh stood watch near the door. Bhai Mehtab Singh went in and fell on the tyrant like lightning. With one stroke of his sword he cut off Massa's head. Massa's companions were taken by surprise. They ran about in terror. Before they could recover from their surprise and shock, Bhai Sukha Singh and Mehtab Singh had made good their escape and galloped away. The very sword used to decapitate him is in the Ajaib Ghar at Darbar Sahib, I stood there watching it in amazement!!1 point

What wrong did he say? he is saying exactly what Puratan Singhs would have done. Sikhs were once a Qaum who would never tolerate Beadbi of Guru Maharaj or Sri Darbar Sahib no matter what. They would literally kill or be killed for the respect of Guru Sahib. After 1947, Sikhs had lost all their warrior qualities that they were once known for and became Beghairat. But Guru Sahib blessed us by sending Sant Jee to wake up the Anakh in the Sikhs. Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale's reaction was perfectly justified. It was not shocking that an enemy of the Sikhs tried to do Maha Beadbi of Darbar Sahib by throwing Tobacco at our most holy shrine but what was shocking was the lack of reaction from the Sikhs who should have been outraged and that is what Sant Jee was talking about.1 point

He was no innocent journalist. He was full of hatred of the Sikhs in and out. During the Punjabi sooba movement, he instigated Punjabi Hindus to disown their own mother tongue(Punjabi) for Hindi. He would write inflamatory articles against the Sikhs and equated Punjabi to Sikhs and Hindus to Hindi. Many Sikhs died for the Punjabi sooba movment, he would not only justify it but also encourage it. During the 1978 massacre, between the Sikhs and Nirankaris(a heretical sect), again Lala played a very prominent anti Sikh role. He was not even there yet he lied by acting as a false witness against the Sikhs and even lied by claiming Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was at the site when he wasn't even there. Following his lead, all the prominent Punjabi hindu journalists began taking the side of the Nirankaris. Now this was a conflict between between Sikhs and a heretical/devient sect. So it should be considered an internal Sikh matter. Why were Punjabi Hindu journalists like Lala Jagat narain playing the Anti Sikh role in this? He went out of his way to act as a false witness! he used his position as a prominent journalist to write and act as a false witness against the Sikhs during this tragedy. Then he began distorting the image of Guru Gobind Singh Jee. Pen is mightier than the sword they say. It's true. If that pen comes into the hands of a liar and hate monger, it can encourage Deaths, massacres, police encounters, tortures as was the case here.1 point

Yeah sorry the nakhel was put in chandus nose. The story I said is right for most part with small variation.I have the recording somewhere so would have to listen to it again because it has been a while. My point was that Guru Sabin had very clear reasoning for beating the individual and he stopped Sikhs from doing so when the dusht insulted 6ve Paatshah. The limit was when heinsulted Guru Nanak Dev Ji but this person also was a very bad criminal.1 point
-
In Sooraj Parkash katha during the time of 6ve Paatshah there was a person who terrorized a village that Guru Sahib was in, this thug also used to shout very disrespectful things at Guru Sahib and Sikhs were ready to thrash him but Guru Sabin stopped them from thrashing him because he only disrepcted the 6th Guru and not Guru Nanak Dev Ji. One day he made the mistake of disrespecting Guru Nanak Dec Ji and that was when Guru Sabin ordered Sikhs to put ring in his nose and then drag him around the village while villagers slapped him with juthian. Not sure if I told the story accurately but the point is that the person was already a criminal who harmed the villagers.1 point

What doubts are you on about? Nindiya based on what? Can you give a specific example of an incident where that happened? IF the first reply to your thread has to approach 21 questions it may be easier to just start again.1 point
