When i talk about non practicing sikh tbh I mean people who do not see the importance of rehat maryada and bend rules of sikhi. Technically deep was a mona but he never ever talked or belittled the rules and conduct of Sikhi. Here the non practicing sikhs not only do not keep rehat but also constantly belittle the importance of the rehat. This is where the dil saaf meme came from. There are many amritdhari sikhs who are pawns and only keep the saroop to fool sikhs. Obviously a panthic mona is 1000 times better than such a person. I am talking more of people who constantly bend the rules to accommodate their own wrong doings and say that you only need a clean heart and no need to follow the rules and rehat. I wouldn't consider Badal as a sikh at all. This person has let so much anti sikh stuff to seep into Punjab.

Non practicing sikhs are always criticizing the rehat and rules of sikhi as they do not follow it themselves. These same people will be out there telling the future generation that keeping rehat is not important just have a clean heart and it becomes a big issue as their collective voice gets bigger if they are not stopped.

only around 5 % max are fully practicing sikhs for sure. Rest are just those who call themselves sikh but not really following the rehat at all. I mean i rarely see any sikh female here who has uncut hair. I see more men with kesh than women. For muslims obviously there are way more fully practising muslims compared to us but i see many who call themsleves muslims but indulge in stuff not allowed in Islam. The only difference is these muslims still know their boundaries and what is allowed or not and don't act like what they are doing is right compared to liberal sikhs who want to try to bend the rules to accommodate their wrong doings and also these Muslims get more strict with age but this is not the same with liberal sikhs who will pass on the same liberal teachings to their kids thus weakening sikhi in each generation. Muslims also are more organized so a liberal muslim has all the resources easily available to learn more about Islam where as with us everything is here and there. Also one thing I noticed is that some sikhs who came here decades ago think their own culture is backward and assimilate easily but Muslims as a whole do not think this way. I think a big reason is that muslim women are very strict about the rules of Islam . Have you ever seen a single muslim women ever mixing practices of other religions like sikh women who believe in all this nonsense superstitions do?We have no fixed defined boundaries.

Someone can be a friend sometimes and an enemy during other times, but it was the non-practicing Sikhs like Deep Sidhu and others who stood for the farmers protest, while some Amritdhari Sikhs like Badal did nothing.

I'd say even non-practicing Sikhs would be better than less Sikhs from a purely political standpoint. They might not be ones who are fully connected with Naam Simran or being well connected with Guru Sahib/Vaheguru, but they can still raise awareness for Sikh issues.

I'm sure this is 90% of this is related to immigration and birth rates.

Look, the same points you made about Gujarati Kenyans, I can say the same thing about Sikh/Punjabi Kenyans. They were more educated on average than immigrants direct from India. I worked with a Gujarati from India and he told me that Gujaratis are not known for being educated. Compare Gujaratis from Kenya to Punjabis from Kenya and also Gujaratis from India to Punjabis from India.

The problem with newbies & late comers is that they don't want to follow the right path ie learn Gurmukhi then take Santhiya later do Veechaar lastly live according to Gurbani. If you skip one or two steps then you will have to depend on others for life. Which is not advisable.

Good post Khalsa Ji. There are so many Gursikhs past and present that have an influence on a Gursikhs life. Whenever I'm feeling a bit low I like to flick through history books. Seeing Sardars liberating France from the Nazis fills me with pride. The Pioneering Sikh who despite facing a mountain of challenges settled in Europe/ America etc. but kept their Sardari intact. Seeing images of Gursikhs who happily accept death rather than compromise their faith is so uplifting. There are numerous others but so difficult to name everyone individually. The beauty of our Panth is that so many contributions have beenn made in different ways. Unity in diversity. Waheguru.

I remember sant jarnail singh jee showing a copy of a original version to some mahapurkh that didnt agree with the singhs being in darbaar sahib, sant jee told them that its written that this is meant to happen, if you want to change it then you take responsibility for the future and we will leave sri darbar sahib jee, or something like that.

Sau Sakhian is the writing which made Raja Dalip Singh to rise and start fight against British. He tried to shake hands with Russia but his plan were revealed by some snitch and later he died in Hotel in Paris.

As far as i knw, the sau sakhi was real and contained a realistic picture of the events which will happen in the future. The british destroyed alot of the original version but there r some which remain today. They also released alot of altered versions to create confusion amongst sikhs and for them to doubt it. I personally knw a bibi in banga part of doaba who has a purataan version of the sau sakhi but is very protective of it and does not let any1 view it as she fears it will be destroyed just like many real versions in the past - she must be of age 103 from what i have been told and a very chardikala singni. Bit more about this (jewal) tape: In late 1960's, this suleman ghost from iran came in some kid in india. He was buried ages ago in india before guroo's time. Next morning, he came again and he talked with Sikh Sangat. This whole conversation was recorded in the tape between muslim ghost and sikh sangat.He talks about life after death. One of sikh saints- baba ishar singh ji rara sahib freed his soul from evil jaun (not mukkhti) after asking couple's who werent havin kids. so baba ji asked the couple if they can have the soul since they werent havin kids. so they replied "satbachan" .. this is how that soul got freed and transmit into the new born fetus. Baba ji said now this is the best i can do for you. You can be mukht from this birth and dead cycles by urself. I have given you again the human life (munukhi jevan) by freein from you praiet jaun(evil spirit life cycle). This tape itself changed thousands of lives and brought people close and closer to gurbani.. The tape is in urdu. It may sound too good to be true. Dharamraja tells him he has to go to kunbi narak until he learns his lesson, and then has to be a pret for a thousand years. Suleman asks how he will get mukti - Dharamrai says that God will come to earth in the form of 10 Gurus, after some time when Sulemans sentence is finished there will sant from Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji' Khalsa Panth in Rara Sahib who will give him mukti. Then he asks Dharamrai where the sadhu who slept with his daughter is as he wants revenge. Dharamrai says that he will be a boy called manmohan singh and you will recognise him when you see him. You can beat him, but you cant kill him, he will lead you to Sant Isher Singh. Suleman says he met Guru Nanak Dev Ji in mecca medina, where he was told he had to do what Dharamraja told him. He also says that he met Guru Gobind Singh Ji but not in detail - he was questioned by someone and suleman answered "I have already told you I met him." Suleman says that people used to to pooja at his grave (muslims), and one day a boy urinated on the grave, suleman looked at him and recognised the sadhu he has been wiating for. He started attacking him, until he remembered Dharamrajas word, and let him go, when the boy became uncoinscious. The villagers quickly came and got him, doctors found nothing wrong - didnt know what had happened. At first he cam to Hapur in someone elses body and then started speakin in manmohan singh, who was in Sant Maharaji's sangat. Sant Maharaji found someone to have suleman as a baby that both suleman and the family agreed to and suleman went. First he refused to go to someones house coz they were rich, then when he agreed to this family he said that he would go but wouldnt sell newsparers ( that was his father to be's work) A few weeks later Suleman turned up at Rara Sahib again, Maharaji asked him why he broke his word, Suleman said he didnt break it - it takes six months for the human to form and then he will go back because the pain was too much in the womb - written in Anand Sahib paat as well (mata ke udar meh pratipal kare). Maharaji said ok, Suleman took Manmohans singhs body again and started living in rara sahib sangat as sevadar. This is when one of those recordings was made that is on the net. This was made by balwant singh, and the transcript is also in the book. This conversation you've heard on the recording. He seems a nice enough guy 7 months later Suleman was still there, Maharaji called him and again asked why he broke his word, Suleman said he was sorry, but wanted see Maharajis birthday before he went. Maharaji said no - the baby was ready. Suleman replied that Mahraji could do anything, and that he could the delay the birth, Maharaji agreed. 11 months after his mother got pregnant, Suleman was born, after Maharaji refused another extension - saying it would to painful for the mother to wait any longer. He left his nishan on manmohan singh - his tongue was all spotty. For 4 years after he was born Suleman could remember all that had happened to him - he also described what kunbi narak was like and what people had to do - some people were being burnt again and again - didnt really understand that bit coz his urdu is strange. Theres a couple other stories about prets and how they got mukti through saptah paat, and extracts from Gurbani about pret/bhoot etc. He described how prets possess people - 'like how tissue sticks to sweat on a body, the pret envelopes the human'. Prets are attracted to the smell given off by people who eat meat, eggs and drink alcohol, because their food is blood and meat - which they eat through animals. Suleman is now gurdeep singh who lives in New York as suleman himself perdicted his pre-odained destiny when he was prait told the sangat upon questioning that if he will go abroad, he replied in urdu- es janam mein nahi par agale janam mein zaroor jaangaie.
