  1. Waheguru Jeo, I was in the Parikarma of Sri Darbar Sahib when this incident took place. Gyaani Ji got a bit late in reaching Sachkhand for some reason, as there were only 5 or so minutes left for Rehraas Sahib. He was literally running towards Sachkhand so that he could begin his seva on time, which he eventually did, but I guess this haste must've confused him a little bit, hence the incident, but its something we all go through every now and then, don't we? And he even apologised to Sri GuruJi and smooh Sangat by reciting two shabads of maafi and nimarta before taking Hukamnaama Sahib, one could feel the pain in his voice as he read out those shabads. If Gyaani Ji were related to us by blood, we would forgive and forget this minor incident instead of publicising it all over the world and making fun of him, would we not? Maharaj are beant beant beant beant beant kripalu, and so is His Love and Compassion for his beloved Sikhs, so pleas a benti in your lotus feet jeo, let's put mitti on this incident, hug him and move on. As far as the violation of Maryada is concerned, its a matter between Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Gyaani Ji, and whatever decision that comes from Sri Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharaj's place would be pravaan to both Gyaani Ji and Panth. Jeh Prasaad Tere Sagal Chiddr Dhaakai... Maafi, and Dhanvaad jeo, Gurfateh

  3. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Could you guys please share some links to really good Katha that would be beneficial to me? Something which will give me a deeper knowledge of Gurbanee, but is simple to understand. I'm having a lot of trouble finding things. I want to start reading Sikhi books to expand my knowledge but I just don't know where to even start, I really just need a starting point. As I'm new to this I was hoping the sangat could give me some recommendations Thankyou all in advance, I hope you can help this moorakh sister of yours get her life on the right path again. 7. This is going to be very anti-Gurmat but when I see this comment: "It is no coincidence that Guru Nanak did not fashion a ‘Sikh identity’. His whole discourse was anti-identity. It was against breaking up humanity into religions, castes, nationalities etc. The Khalsa was created by the 10th guru Guru Govind Singh. But his innovations also had no bearing on matrimonial, adoption, and succession laws of the Hindus prevalent in those days." I say f*** India and all Indians who are proud of their mother**** nation!!! But seeing as how all this "Sikhs are Hindu" stuff is happening we should all ignore it and go after Singh-Sabha with a vengeance.

  8. While there isn’t any controversy on Nirmala order being started by Guru Sahib, there is, however, contention on how it started and the purpose of this order. It is a popular story that five Sikhs were sent to learn Hindu texts from Benaras and upon their return they were exempt from taking Amrit and keep the attire they were wearing. There is hardly any shred of truth in this mythical story. All texts that mention the names of these Sikhs clearly state “Singh” as their last name. This proves that they were Amritdharis. Further, Guru Sahib himself was a great scholar and had scores of erudite scholars in his darbar to teach his Sikhs. There was no need to send anyone to Benaras to learn what couldn’t be taught in Guru’s Darbar. To state something otherwise implies that Guru’s House lacked knowledge. If Guru Harkrishan Ji could enable a deaf/dumb person to recite and interpret Geeta, then why couldn’t Guru Sahib and his learned scholars teach other Sikhs? There is a famous sakhi of a Guru’s ordinary Sikh composing a riddle in intricate poetry which a learned person could not solve. This sakhi proves that even ordinary Sikhs cleaning langar halls and horse stables were very learned and capable of beating learned haughty pandits in a scholarly debate. Many reasons can be put forth to prove that no Sikh was sent to any Hindu Brahmin to learn anything. The fact is that Nirmala order was started by Guru Sahib as a missionary order of the Khalsa. This is why their names have “Singh”. Had they been exempt, they wouldn’t have received “Singh” surname any other way. Their mission was to spread out to different parts of the country and establish their akharas at Hindu holy places where people gathered in large numbers and preach Gurmat by debating learned Brahmins, yogis and pandits. They could easily present Gurmat by comparing it to six Hindu systems and show its uniqueness. They were supposed to present Gurmat by relating it to Hinduism. Their work was successful in the beginning but eventually they fell in the trap of the very system they were supposed to defend Gurmat from. They started presenting Gurmat in Vedantic terms and some of their works are testimony to that fact. After 1849 and even prior to it Sikhs had intermingled with the Hindus so much that it was very difficult to distinguish them. Their practices had become Hinduized. While many Sikhs came back to Gurmat due to Singh Sabha’s preaching, sampardas like Udasis and Nirmalas have been sticking to the old rustic influences of Hinduism to justify their wrongdoings and blame Singh Sabha to have misinterpreted Gurbani. It is an historical fact that Khalsa Panth was started by Guru Sahib and it made mistakes, yet it always revived itself but such has not been observed from sampardas who keep defending their mistakes using the mere excuse of their order being started by Guru Sahib and hence, fail to free themselves from the yoke of Hinduism and Vedanta. They were supposed to be the university of Gurmat scholarship yet they are far behind compared to modern standards. They fail to recognize the importance of Gurbani grammar. Unfortunately, they are not on the progressive path. Their contribution deserves due credit but their lapse into Hinduism is also a grave mistake. Sooner they realize this, the better. Just because the order was started by Guru Sahib does not prove that it has stayed the same throughout history and has been free from errors. This is perhaps one of the foremost reasons why they haven’t been given any importance after Singh Sabha period. They simply lost touch with the Sikh masses and refused to move on. While sampardas complain about not getting due credit for their contribution, they are guilty of the same charges. How many samparda gyanis refer to Sajjan Thug, Bhoomiya thief and Kauda demon as Bhai Sajjan, Bhai Bhoomiya and Bhai Kauda respectively and their great contribution of Sikh parchaar? The life account of these Sikhs is completely unknown to the Sikh nation after they reformed. The point is that the mistakes and bad deeds go a long way and stick to the person’s name forever. No one thinks of Santa Singh’s apology as much as his treachery. This is probably how his name will be remembered in history. In my opinion, the only way for Nirmalas and sampardas to gain more respect and credit for their contribution is by reforming and modernizing themselves. They must keep up with the changing pace and present Gurmat by relating it to modern thought while keeping its purity and essence. They need to adopt new methods of study and let go off Hindu influences. Sikhs also need to be concerned about this order as it used to be the missionary wing of the Panth. I hope one day all sampardas and modern schools join hands and make progressive headway towards Gurmat parchaar. Guru Rakha

  12. This is the full, basic Nitnem in Gurmukhi with an English translation. All the Banis are in line with the prescribed minimum by DDT. The Gutka Sahib includes the 7 daily banis, ardass, rakhya lei shabads, and a fair size selection of additional shabads. It's formatted for the Sony ebook reader, but this should work just fine on Kindle or any other ebook reader as well. Admins, please make this a sticky. Sampooran Nitnem Gutka.pdf

  14. from giani sher singh ji in this game of duality, amazing things are happening. Creation questions the existence of Creator and there are others who dwell in peace and bliss despite fire of kalyug burning around. Why this happens? Learned gurmukh piare say – When people try to find truth, the basic reason for there quest is that they are surrounded by Falsehood. If they start on path of truth, they need to understand that supreme truth resides within their own self, but instead of looking inside, instead of undertaking Inner Journey, where inner self would be cleaned of filth and purified with nectar of Waheguru’s naam, where Divine Light would glow and Supreme Truth, Waheguru Akaal Purakh will be Realized, these people look for answers outside, from those who are themselves confused, themselves living in darkness, themselves entangled in shackles of Maaya. How can someone bonded liberate someone else? This is the reason for all the confusion. People try to find Dharam outside, indulge in debates, meaningless discussions, questions which don’t matter, in game of up-man ship, all in name of Dharam and lose the game. They start to find Truth but continue to suffer in falsehood. These type of people, without divine knowledge, Rass , divine virtues or spiritual flow, start seeing falsehood everywhere. Even TRUTH appears false to them, life looks just a animalistic endeavour to them, and spiritual life, inner life, life beyond death, inner meanings of Guru’s words, the purity, humility, divine reason of Guru’s words is lost to them. And this leads to a struggle, between Dharam and Adharam, Faithful and Faithless, devotion and mistrust. So, best option is to stand on side of Dharam, Faith and devotion, to believe in Spirituality, to think beyond physical limits, to let the mind fly high into faraway and vast mystical realms. Everything what we see, what we feel, what we hear, even what we think as Truth is not what it is, it has deeper meanings, bigger motives and greater value. Same has happened to Baani of Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji. Confused Minds set out to find truth, but instead of looking for truth started looking for falsehood and impurity in Ocean of Truth and drowned. Baani of Satguru Dasmesh Pita ji, from Jaap Sahib to Zafarnaama is divinely powerful Shabad. It has Bhagti and Shakti, Raaj and Jog, Bir-ras and Prem-Ras. To understand Baani of Dasam Patshah, one needs to be close to him, be worthy of Dasam Pita’s Kirpa so that the power held in those words can be felt. Out of entire composition of Maharaj, Charitropakhyaan is targeted the most by Faithless Nindaks and Shanka-wadis. But Charitropakhyaan Baani is a great Baani of Satguru ji, with deep inner meanings and a divine and holy purpose, else there was no need for Satguru ji to write it. How much power, divinity, purity, Gyaan and Kirpa it contains can be made out from this Katha. When Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj was writing Charitrokhayaan, sitting on banks of Satluj, the weak-minded Masands went to Mata Gujri ji and complained to Mataji about Satguruji’s new rachna, Charitropakhyaan, saying that Maharaj was going against bachans of Guru Nanak Dev ji and was indulging in Ninda of women. Jagat Mata Gujri ji knew her son very well, so she said to Masands that she’ll go and talk to Guruji on this issue. Next day, Mataji went to the place where Maharaj had camped and Charitropakhyaan were being written. Seeing Mata ji, Maharaj got up and bowed his head to Mataji, asking the reason Mataji had come this far. Mataji smiled, looked and Masands, then turned to Maharaj and said ‘'Laal ji ( Mataji never in her life took Maharaj's name), I Heard you are writing Charittars, I dont think human mind is still capable of hearing the Truth, of being able to see the filth it is filled with in mirror of Guru's Shabad''. Mata ji returned to Anandpur Sahib saying these words, and Guru Gobind Singh ji went into Samadhi for some time. Guru ji has just finished 324th Charittar. Suddenly Maharaj opened his eyes and asked Likhari Singh to be Saavdhaan. Suddenly Maharaj stopped, and asked Likhari Singh to Jump to Charittar 326. Maharaj finished remaining Charittars and after writing 404 Charittar, in the end counted 405 charittars. Likhari Singh, Bhai Darbari asked,’’ Maharaj,We have written just 404 Charittasr, why have you counted 405 Charittars in the End? And where is 325th Charittar?’’ Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj smiled and said Sikha, ‘’ When Mataji left, I decided to write charittar of Maha Maaya, Sri Maya Lachmi ji, the creative power of Waheguru which creates, preserves and destroys the universe. But Maharaj Akaal purakh stopped me from doing so, as when the Charittar would have been written, Maha-Maaya would have been overcome and finished. Earth, Moon, Sun, Stars, this Universe would have collapsed and there would have been Parlay (doomsday). No one has been able to imagine or explain the vastness of Maya, but I wished to write this Charittar of Maya, which has taken Human beings away from their real-Self, Sri Waheguru ji. Once the Charittar was finished, Maaya would have been rendered weak and helpless, all pure souls would have gone to Sachkhand and world would have ended.’’ Sikhs said, ‘’ Maharaj, Will this charittar be ever written and When’? ‘’Maharaj Said ‘Yes, when we come next time on this world, after finishing evil from this world, Akaal purakh Waheguru ji will complete ‘Sri Kaal ji ki Ustat’ Himself as I don’t have the power to comprehend limit of Waheguru Akaal’s Ustat, and after Akaal Ustat is completed, I will write this 325th Charittar of Maaya, after which, Maya will merge in Waheguru, there will be Maha-Parlay and whole Universe will be destroyed. We will take both Granths (Aad Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and Sri Dasam Guru Granth Sahib ji) with us to Sachkhand and parkash them there, and we shall all dwell in peace with our beloved gursikhs and when Hukam comes, take the Baani to next creation.’’ Sikhs asked ‘’Maharaj, Why did you wish to write Charittar of MayaLachmi’’? Maharaj replied, ‘’ Singho, Maaya didn’t wish its game to be revealed, and I was doing it, warning the people of world how it twists human minds to do sin, to walk on path of evil, to go away from Nij-Saroop, Waheguru, to fall in pit of hell, there fore it took Masands to Mataji. But Mataji is beyond the shackles of Maaya, still at the benti of Masands, Mataji had to come. Mataji returned after blessing me, but I was looking at Maaya’s game, how it had entered Our darbar, how the people who were supposed to be Parcharaks of Guru, The Masands, had been corrupted and weakened by Maaya, and if the Maaya had grown so powerful, it was better to finish it, for this reason I wanted to write the charittar. ‘’ So Khalsa ji, Dasmesh Pita Guru Gobind Singh ji Sahib Sache Patshah will come again, to remove Paap from this world, to bless the holy souls and guide them to sachkhand. That day, Akaal Ustat and Maya Charittar will be completed by Waheguru ji and Satguru ji themselves. It’s a matter of faith and belief, those who have believed in Satguru ji’s presence have always remained in Charhdi kala. Have Faith in power of Baani, in Satguru Guru Granth Sahib ji and Sri Dasam Guru Granth Sahib ji and you all shall be blessed. Khalsa ji, there are many more gupt bachans and traditions in Khalsa Panth, which Puratan Sikhs believed in and stayed in Charhdi kala, but will be mocked to day by nindaks if revealed. These bachans are also just for the faithful, those who believe, and not for those who don’t believe. If you believe, keep them or its your wish to leave them. Again, We all need to look within our selves, and light the lamp of knowledge in our hearts, which will enlighten our life and remove darkness from world, only then we will be blessed by Satguru ji as his Beloved Khalsa Sons/Daughters.

  15. The AKJ these days doesn't have a single view. I always look towards Puratan Jatha of Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh's time. Bhai Sahib has quoted from Sri Sarbloh Granth, and referenced that this Pangti is from Sri Sarbloh Granth, so I have no doubt that he believed in it. Other than that, Sarbloh Granth was never openly known unlike Sri Dasam Granth, so it is no wonder many people do not know about it or know what to believe when they hear about it.

  16. For the record, I never doubted NIrmalas created by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. What I'm doubting is the way some people make up and twist history according to their own agenda without actually referring to historical pieces. The brilliant write-up by Bijla Singh explained quite a lot and cleared a lot of misconceptions - everyone's recommended to read it. It's easy just to call something bhasauria mindset or blame Singh Sabha, but to look at the truth from impartial eyes is hard to do, especially when you got a bunch of uneducated people making lectures about what our history is not.

  17. May be read some history of nirmale and try to understand why they were sent to banares. Read Garabgazni teeka of japji sahib, haven't read full but bits about faridkot teeka of sri guru granth sahib ji- especially jap ji sahib, bhai gurdas ji varan teeka by Sant Sampooran Singh Bodhni. Antriv means adhyatamic/spiritual which speaks to human consciousness on different dimensions, if antriv arths is shared by vedantis so be it. Science of atma is shared, no one has ownership on it just like sun, water, air, earth, sky, air are universal things. I know had teja singh bhausaria had his way ...in insecurity, he would brand five tatvas like- gurmat air, gurmat sun, gurmat water, gurmat sky, gurmat earth, gurmat reincarnation- brand everything..!! It looks so cheap, un-educated, extremely insecure..!!! Lot of indepth indic vedic knowledge(vigyan/science) which is *NOT* necessarily incompatible with Gurmat by default as gurmat does not build human/soul framework from scratch because there is no need to as its naturally compatible with existing knowledge of human/soul. For eg- Gurmat does not re-define how sun or moon looks like or science behind it, there is no need to..its already there so it does not re-define or re-invent the wheels of things specifically in the topic surrounding science of atma/human/body/paratma but rather acknowledges and reiterates- the universal knowledge which is already there. Off course its not a general rule across the board as its topic by topic basis but specifically in this topic of science of atma-paratama/human body is universal one and same..!! just like how life/death/human body functions, sun/moon/stars are universal things shared by all..!! We should do full research before indicating it's contrary to Gurmat. Lot of stuff- vigyan/science behind soul/body which you mentioned above its already mentioned in gyani thakur singh ji (student of sant kartar singh ji bhindranwale) katha of japji sahib. I will leave that up to individual's own research. Its not a principle, as i said earlier there is no hard and fast rule with nirmale...you will find quite bit of diversity within them- some are shastardhari and shaaastardhari like many upsamaprda like bhai dya singh ji - rara sahib, nurangabad, harkhowale some are not, its based on need (blending in hindu sadhus or blending in sikh mainstream), you have nirmale who were bhramgyani sant soldier when panth needed. Its upon need, baba sahib singh bedi, baba bir singh nurangabad, baba maharaj singh ji nurangabad, baba khuda singh ji. And upon need if mass is devoid of sikhi then go mainstream like many sants of malve did around british times bought so many people into sikhi fold...!! Bigggest enemy is mind, biggest weapon is to fight mind is - dya, dharam, bibek, sat, santokh, gyan. There are many who wrap themselves with the thought that primary enemy/weapon is outside and confine to it outside but in fact without killing the enemy inside- mind with your weapon, you cannot fight outside with your weapon..you become tamoguni rakshash if you take sipahi role before winning the internal battle inside- be sant...!! Sipahi aspect of sant its naturally born, nurtured and controlled by sant aspect of one's life- dya (compassion), sat(truthful), sabar( patience), santokh(contentment), sam/advait dristhi (non dual one vision impartial perception of humanity). Western spiritual philosophy is great but where it mentions abhramic version of God, thats where it falls apart. There is a reason why western so called philosphers comes find eastern dharam intriguing including sikhi because they find wrathful/protestant version of God shallow and empty. There are plenty of analogies/examples/explanation to describe intertwine relationship between sargun and nirgun for westerners. Nirmale don't have university? you are joking right? May be if you come out of your bhagti bhora once and while, you will know...did you even went out of your way to look for them? when was the last time you went to India? Nirmala's school establishment are literally every where in punjab- patiala and outside- haridvar/rishikesh. Off course, if you go with tat khalsa mindset, you won't find them- everyone will appear malech, bhraminvaadi/advaiti- devoid of Gurmat to you ...!!!! To name few- They have sant teja singh double ma, sant sher singh ji university of patiala, sant tirath singh ji (gora white sikh convert- professor at university of london at oriental studies) will explain hard concepts and debate with anyone with english regarding gurmat theological spiritual matters...!!

  18. Sarna, Manjit Singh booked Tribune News Service New Delhi, November 16 A day after the clash at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib, the Delhi police has registered FIRs against eight persons, including PS Sarna, president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Charanjit Singh Channy, AS Sidhu, Manjit Singh GK, president of the Delhi unit of the SAD (Badal), and his supporters Kuldeep Singh Bhogal, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Taranjit Singh Rana and Chaman Singh. They have been booked under Sections 147 (rioting), 148 (armed with deadly weapons), 149 and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The police has started collecting evidence and recording the statements of witnesses. There was ample evidence to book those involved in the clash, including CCTV footage, sources said. A police officer involved in the investigations, said: “No shots were fired. Swords were brandished but not used. Neither were lathis used. The groups resorted to throwing stone at each other.” Manjit Singh GK had complained that Sarna had hit him on the head with a kirpan. Activists of the DSGMC task force were seen carrying lathis and swords during the clash yesterday. Sunil Saxena, Chief Medical Officer, RML Hospital, said “Manjit Singh GK had a skin-deep injury on his head which could have been caused by a blunt object”. The police will also question its own personnel.

The SGPC executive is likely to initiate action against the head granthi of Sri Harmandar Sahib, Jasvinder Singh, in its Ludhiana meeting on Saturday for skipping “Chaupai Sahib” while performing the ‘path’ of ‘Rehraas Sahib’ at the sanctum sanctorum last evening. Sources said the SGPC authorities started receiving calls from India and abroad as soon as the head granthi committed the mistake on Thursday evening as Gurbani recital from the Golden Temple was being telecast live in various countries. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said Jasvinder admitted to have committed the mistake inadvertently. Sources said the head granthi was reportedly asked to resign, but he declined to do so. There are reports that the SGPC may either remove him from his post or transfer him elsewhere.

  20. Nirmalas - Why would Guru Gobind Singh ji send 5 Sikhs to benares to learn Sanskrit? - Does this mean that Guru Gobind Singh ji didn't know Sanskrit himself, as he would have taught the 5 Sikhs? - If Guru Gobind Singh ji didn't know Sanskrit, but was still a Brahmgyan Jivan Mukht Mahapurakh, then what's the use of Sanskrit? Sewapanthis - They sound cool, but they stay celibate and don't harm any form of life (almost like jains) - Started by Bhai Khanaiya who didn't want to pick up the sword to fight the Mughals. - They are pacifists, but Guru Gobind Singh ji has said, "When all peaceful means have failed, it is righteous to draw the sword". - Guru Nanak told us to be householders. Udasis - The group started by Sri Chand, who was unfit to succeed Guru Nanak, so he started his own order. - Sri Chand had too much ego to follow Guru Nanak's command to the T, so Guru Nanak picked Bhai Lehna (Guru Angad Dev ji) as his successor. So these groups have all broken away from the Sikh panth at one point or another, yet they still call themselves Sikhs. However, a Sikh does not disobey his Guru. So how can they be considered Sikhs? They are sects of Sikhi at best.

  21. It has become commen practice to blame Singh Sabha for discrediting Purataan rehat etc. I saw an interview with Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Ji's daughter who said that the British were instrumental in preserving and recording Sikh history. Maybe we should start with their works? This Singh-Sabha thing is probably going to turn so big someday it will be similar to the Dasam Granth issue.

  25. Got to call a spade a spade. Anyone who does that stuff is not a Sikh of the Guru. I defend 3ho when someone is being illogical, but i find even gurmustuk justifying havan and all these pointless rituals that are present in brahmanism as being quite sad. Listen to the entire shabad as to what a Khalsa is: Jab Eh Gaye Bipran Ki Reet, Main Na Karooun Ihn Ki Parteet. It's very, very clear cut. When such individuals do such actions like havan and other pointless pooja, Guru Gobind Singh Ji withdraws his support and we should not associate with such individuals. You don't do havan and pooja for "peace" and universal brotherhood/sisterhood of mankind lol. That's some hippy stuff - not Sikhi. Sikhi is about real brotherhood and sisterhood of mankind and religions in that we live and die for dharam and protecting the weak and oppressed regardless of religion. By merely doing some show of throwing some stuff in a fire you don't show respect or anything for someone else - it's all dakhavavaaji.

Jab Eh Gaye Birpran Ki Reet, Mein Na Karoon In Ki Parteet.' Under article 25 of the Indian constitution, Hindus include Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. Are you celebrating Deepavali (divali) today? Do you prefer the blessings of goddess Lakshmi over Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj's Parteet.. Yeah yeah you didn't mean divali when you said happy divali, you meant happy bandi cchor divas. Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj was the first Guru to secure release of prisoners from Babar's prison. How come we don't celebrate that day? If we want to break free from the shackles of article 25 of the Indian constitution and the constitution in general, we must start by celebrating Bandi Cchor Divas on another day in line with Gurmat? After all we have different dates for Gurpurabs depending on which calendar we follow. SGPC could declare another date to pray for the release of all prisoners still languishing in jails around the world. I realise ive jumped from one point to another and I appologise if ive offended anyone. I'm not saying don't celebrate Bandi Cchor Divas, just saying we need to know what we're celebrating and when. How does Bandi Cchor Divas coincide with Divali? Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaaj was released on Divali day and made it to Amritsar on the same Divali day from Gwalior, south of Agra which today would take one 8hours in a train, in those days 5days atleast on horseback? thats assuming Maharaaj did not stop on way to meet Sangatah who would of course have been greeting and congratulating. So how exactly does Divali and Bandi Cchor Divas coincide? Is this an accurate depiction of Sikh history and an accurate interpretation of Sikh sentiment? Or are some Sikhs so eager to celebrate Divali, and so fervent to want to link Divali to Sikh practice and tradition that they simply had to find or create an incident that is suggested to have happened on or close to Divali day, and use that as a pretext to celebrate? and why do we not celebrate the Bandi Cchor Divas of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj from Babars prison along with the innocent prisoners mostly women and children?! or does that not matter since there was no divali or raksha bandan or karva chauth then?! Why aren’t Sikhs extolled to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj’s Bandi Cchor Divas? Why is there no Deep Maala to commemorate this day? Because it does not coincide with Divali? Or it did not happen close enough to Divali day? Or there was no Harmandar Sahib to be lit up with lamps then? Or simply because this Bandi Cchor provides no pretext for celebrating Divali? We light candles and deevay and fireworks polluting our atmosphere...WHY? is a celebration not complete without them? if this is not Bipran Ki Reet, i dont know what is. I appologise again if ive offended anyone. and if im wrong in what i say, I guess Maharaaj will be the judge of that. but my intention is not to offend anyone. Pul Chuk Muaf Ji. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

  36. Brothers once again we see the ugly head of arya samaj hindustani hindu terrorists rise above the gutter trying to invite and provoke Sikhs into physical confrontation with the intention of labelling our community as villians and terrorists so we have to be careful to their gameplan. These anti-sikh dogs have barked for a long time in fact in the 19th century seeing the success of the Sikh religion and philosophy convert many a hindu, buddhist and muslim to the faith they with jealously tried to create a reform movement based on Sikh model and principles in effort to stop the flow of hindu's (in particular low caste hindus) into Sikhism. And when the punjab was split in 1947 jihadi's got full rein to murder non-muslims as they wished and these hindu goons of various hindu death cults (RSS, VHP, Ayra Samaj, Ram Sena, etc) were busy killing muslims and sometimes even sikhs in cloak and daggar style trying to incite trouble between the two to get Sikhs involved also in the mayhem. In 1950s to 1960s they were busy trying to promote "hindu hindu hindustan" against Indian native regional customs, traditions, languages, religions.... they were also against Sikhs and for punjabi being the national language of pepsu (punjab) which then had to be divided into 3 other states to commodate for hindu majority demands with creation of haryana and himacel pardesh out of punjab. From 1970s onwards various hindu hooligans they tried to attack Sikh scriptures, shrines and innocent Sikhs minding their own business. The government and police were unsympathic as it is a hindu majority country and Sikhs were seen as unwanted troublesome people who were trying to reclaim their rights, voice and dignity lost since so called indian hindustani azaadi in 1947. Then in 1980s things came to ahead when Sikhs having had enough of the naked daily oppression and discrimintion took justice in their own hands under the leadership of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as the government was not giving the Sikh community any justice for what the hindu miscreants (sometimes in police or army uniform) were doing. And we all saw how the Indian goverment launched operation blue star then anti-sikh genocide in nov 1984 and killing fields of punjab using under cover criminals who killed innocent civilians as well as separaist Sikhs with impunity. So we have to ask ourselves, do we actually recognise our enemy yet? or do we need another 1984 for us to truely wake up and see what has been going on, the pattern of events seem familiar. Brothers we need to monitor these hindu terrorists very carefully and use appropriate laws against them. If you go on facebook you can see how they are openly recruiting for members of shiv sena, brahmin sena, bajrang dal, etc units across india by handing each other their mobile fone numbers. Sikhs in Punjab are not that organised and even if our brothers adopted the same strategy on facebook they will have the hindu dominated government intelligence agencies monitoring them more than the actual and real threat posed by hindu extremists who are well known to do false flag attacks and provoke religious minorities to fight so they can murder and destroy as they done to Buddhists (in the past), Muslims, Sikhs, Christians. So we dont have any option but to act now being idle and thinking it will all go away is wishful thinking, naam jaaping all day will not avert the tide, Guru Ji's have taught and shown Sikhs need to provide their own defence forces. When a storm is coming, you prepare...and Sikhs in the west have been gifted with good jobs in media, industries, political fields and are university graduates .... its time we united under nishaan sahib and ensure the hindu extremists these hindustani agent provocetuers are not given a chance to get away with any more murders and genocides.

  37. International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) - http://www.genocidescholars.org/ SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS IAGS Siena, 2013 The Aftermath of Genocide: Victims and Perpetrators, Representations and Interpretations The way societies deal with the violence and massacres of the recent past is one of the aspects of genocide studies that needs to be interpreted, deepened and fully analyzed. Representations and interpretations shape the way societies perceive their past, which impacts on their attitudes and behaviors. In an age where the role of communication is increasing, representations (narratives, images, arts, especially spread by popular culture) often constitute the standard way of becoming aware of the past, especially for new generations. We need to understand the meaning of the atrocities that genocides produce not only during the events but also after the genocide (revenge, hatred, fear, mutual stereotypes, denial, desensitization, generalized mistrust or suspicion, among other effects). We need to deal not only with the intentionality of group destruction, but also with the different consequences of the destruction in its aftermath. Do we need to invest in the knowledge (and representation) of the cruel acts or do we risk voyeurism and masochism? For scholars, it is crucial to understand an important genocidal moment in history, but how are these events represented and popularized? The memory of the cruelty is one of horror for the victims, but of what power do the representations instill for the perpetrators? How are the issues of revenge, hatred and denial represented in popular culture and in "official" narratives such as museums? How do the representations coincide with the narratives of the victims? The IAGS, the University of Sienaand the Kingston University welcome papers and sessions on all aspects of genocide, particularly those devoted to our conference theme, "The Aftermath of Genocide. Victims and Perpetrators, Representations and Interpretations". Innovative panels, workshops, and papers that consider the dynamics, causes, and consequences of genocide, issues of memory, interpretation and representation, and analysis of victims and perpetrators are welcomed. Besides panels and papers, the organizers encourage other modes of dialogue, including workshops, roundtable discussions, cultural media, and artistic works/readings, including forums that relate to policy initiatives, pedagogy, and education. Scholars, practitioners, activists and students interested in genocide studies from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Papers will be accepted in English and should be sent as an attachment to the following email address; iags2013siena@gmail.com Once the proposals are accepted by the selection committee, participants are required to register on-line at: www.genocidescholars.org where IAGS and conference material will be found. All participants should be IAGS members. Abstracts should include full name, affiliation, a brief CV, e-mail address, and be no more than 250 words, using single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font. They can be send from now until February 3rd, 2013 to iags2013siena@gmail.com Any questions may be directed to the conference organizers, Marcello Flores, Daniel Feierstein and Donna Lee Frieze at: iags2013siena@gmail.com

Thousands of Sikhs will gather across Europe to voice their concerns with Challenges to the Sikh Turban in some parts of Europe. The Turban is an important and integral part of the Sikh identity, in recent years since the heightened security post 9/11, the Sikh Turban has become an easy target for many European officials. The gatherings will give highlight the concerns of ignorance and misunderstanding felt by Sikhs about their Identity. Thousands of Sikhs are expected in a simultaneous gathering organised by the Sikh Channel, a Europe wide TV Station on the SKY platform. Live Broadcast on the Sikh Channel of each Turban Awareness Gathering will take place from Madrid, London, Rome and Brussels. In recent months Sikhs in Italy have experienced particular difficulties at some Italian airports being asked to remove their turbans, with many Sikhs refusing to fly and missing their flights. Similarly some Italian provinces require Sikhs to remove Turbans for driving licence photographs, again many Sikhs have not applied for driving licenses avoiding the humiliation of photographs without their turbans. UK Sikhs in a show of support will attend a Turban Awareness Gathering on 25th September 2011 at midday outside Houses of Parliament. In Rome thousands of Sikhs will gather at the Piazza Montecitorion, with further attendances in Central Madrid and Brussels. In the years to 1945, 14 Victoria Crosses were awarded to the Sikhs, a per capita record given the size of the Sikh Regiments.[70] In 2002, the names of all Sikh VC and George Cross winners were inscribed on the pavilion monument of the Memorial Gates[90] on Constitution Hill next to Buckingham palace, London. During World War I, Sikh battalions fought in Egypt, Palestine, Mesopotamia, Gallipoli and France. Six battalions of the Sikh Regiment were raised in World War II, and served at El Alamein and in Burma, Italy and Iraq, winning 27 battle honours. Across the world, Sikhs are commemorated in Commonwealth cemeteries. "In the last two world wars 83,005 turban wearing Sikh soldiers were killed and 109,045 were wounded. They all died or were wounded for the freedom of Britain and the world, and during shell fire, with no other protection but the turban, the symbol of their faith." - General Sir Frank Messervy "British people are highly indebted and obliged to Sikhs for a long time. I know that within this century we needed their help twice [in two world wars] and they did help us very well. As a result of their timely help, we are today able to live with honour, dignity, and independence. In the war, they fought and died for us, wearing the turbans." - Sir Winston Churchill

  43. Sonial Deol's (Jaswinder Sidhu) father:- BUNGED UP! News of the World's fake sheikh catches his 250th villain By Neville Thurlbeck, 24/01/2010 A CORRUPT councillor has become the 250TH crook jailed thanks to News of the World journalist Mazher Mahmood. Our unflinching Investigations Editor snared lowlife villain Suresh Kumar when he demanded a £10,000 bung to pass a planning application. The 44-year-old Tory was found guilty of corruption and caged for 12 months - plus banned from holding any public office for five years - on Monday. Passing sentence, the judge at Southwark Crown Court, South London, said: "He was consumed by his own ambition." Also jailed was court interpreter Baldev Sidhu, 62, who caused Kumar's first trial to collapse when he made a FALSE translation of the crook's Punjabi conversations on our secret tapes. Sidhu - the dad of BBC Breakfast presenter Sonia Deol - was sentenced to eight months in jail. Last night a police spokesman said: "We are extremely grateful to the News of the World for bringing this matter to light and providing us with essential evidence. "Kumar was involved in serious corruption and would not have not been brought to justice if it were not for your work." To trap him, our man Mazher - who has famously posed as a fake sheikh to dupe many of his targets - pretended to be a business partner of two property developers facing illegal bribe demands. Power Kumar, a member of Redbridge Council, Essex, repeated his demands for money to Mazher in a meeting, and crowed: "Brother, the power is in my hands. "The council is my own, the people are mine." His and Sidhu's jailings were the latest victories for Mazher, who has caught hundreds of criminals in the last 18 years - from immigrant racketeers and drug dealers to bent cops and corrupt solicitors. His extraordinary haul is almost enough to fill Dorchester prison, Dorset, which has a capacity of 252. Mazher said: "It has been very rewarding to bring so many crooks to justice - and I am determined to catch even more." The businessmen who were told by Kumar to pay up if they wanted their block of flats to get the go-ahead, expressed their gratitude. Jasbir Bhogal and Raj- winder Rana said: "Kumar made blatant and repeated demands for cash followed by threats. "We knew the News of the World would be the right place to go to expose this man, to shame him and get us justice." http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/695941/BUNGED-UP-Fake-sheikh-Mazher-Mahmood-gets-250th-villain-Suresh-Kumar.html

  45. When you go there you simply show them your foreign passport to prove you are NRI. These rooms were supposed to be free but they will ask you to pay Rs300 to Rs500 per day along with a damage deposit. It is fairly new five story building with AC and hot water facilities. However, hot water system normally doesn't work. There is a five person elevator. Try getting a room on the 5th floor facing Darbar Sahib. There are bedrooms with two large beds available at the same rate. But cleanness is almost non-existent. One more important thing, even if there are no more power cuts, they simply walk on to your floor and switch your power supply off from the main control box on your floor. And all you have to do is you open the box and flip your room switch back on and you have your power supply back. AC system is very good. There were some fire incidents due to shady electrical work. So don't get the rooms with burnt out windows on the main floor right behind the reception counter.
