Amritdhari Khalsa Panth proudly states that we liberated the Gurdwaras from the Mahants because the Mahants used to abuse the Gurdwaras' money and the Gurdwaras were doing things against the Gurumat. It is possible. But not all sages were bad. Only a few mahants were incorrect; the rest effectively managed the gurdwaras and spread Sikhism. Thakur Dalip Singh ji has questioned the Khalsa Panth on whether the Mahants, to whom we have given possession of the Gurdwaras today, do not misuse the Maya money offered by the Sangat. Aren't there anti-Gurdwara activities happening? 312237968_800104471195489_8268046516900959080_n.mp4

  5. The state apparatus is going in overdrive to spread Sikhphobia. Godi media is publishing many baseless 'Khalistanti conspiring with Pakistan' articles...seems like a powder keg they are trying to build to incite communal violence. This will be a convenient tactic to create a false enemy and vilify them come election time. Same tactic Indira/Rajiv used in 1984. Sikh leadership needs to be more vigilant, and have a dedicated PR campaign to show the masses all conspiracies are baseless and fabrications. The 'nation within a nation status' and to get the promised rights, and to enact all elements of the Anandpur Sahib Resolution is not separatist. However if you look online at the amount of brainwashed and hate-filled bhakts who are spreading more lies supported by the media, the narrative can quickly change. There are also many bad actors dressing up as 'Sikhs' spreading nonsense and I fear they will engage in false flag attacks to escalate and defame Sikhs, to justify systemic targeting and killings again. How can Sikhs raise their voices, obtain their rights, without having to incur additional losses as shown in the past?

  11. They're all the same, it's just different sides of the same coin, as shady as Vaz was he was instrumental in the opening of the Sikh ethos primary school here in Leicester, the original academy was going to get taken over over by another one who were looking to open up a school under their banner instead, the DFE got involved and al sorts (long story, maybe for another thread), bur overall they are looking after themselves first and pretending it's for the community, the ones that are decent don't get far, there are a few good local councillors here that get stuff done but they tend to bypass all the red tape to do it, I used to think Ashworth was decent but he's like the rest of them as well.

  12. Sikhs of previous generations had to follow a rigorous regime prior to Amrit Sanchar. Sant Isher Singh Rara Sahib required Sikhs to do Jaap of Mool Mantar for 17 hours daily, for one year prior to taking Amrit Sanchar… Other Samparda required Sikhs to read and memorise large parts of Gurbani prior to Amrit Sanchar… The previous generations of Gursikhs, generally speaking, were of a stronger calibre, owing to their intense Nitnem… Waheguru???

  14. http://chng.it/bQLmKxkNcV We want the Akal Takht to 1. Assemble a temporary security force of 2000 Sikhs and send them to Delhi to secure the safety all protesters from attacks by the BJP and its Police Force and 2. Institute a permanent Akall Takht Security/Reilief Force to defend the weak, hungry and downtrodden. We demand the Akaal Takht Chief Giani Harpreet Singh to pick up the baton from Baba Deep Singh and Akali Phulla Singh and serve the Sikh mission from the front as his predessors did or stand aside for some that will accept this mandate. This week we have all seen scenes of terror in Delhi, the state (police) and BJP/RSS thugs have colluded to perpetrate a reign of terror and violence on protesting farmers in the Indian capital. It is no coincidence that it is Sikhs that have been subjected to the targeted violence, it is not overreaching to call this a racist act of state terrorism. Whenever minorities have stood up for their rights in India successive governments of India have used all diabolical means to vilify innocent citizens using their corrupt state sponsored media, they have tortured, raped and murdered Indian citizens belonging to minorities with impunity, this story has repeated over and over again since the inception of the ‘Republic of India’ in 1947. Minorities and decent Indians from majority communities have been attending protest rallies, signing petitions and begging foreign powers to intervene for decades and this has had no affect and current events demonstrate the cycle will not stop unless we take steps to stop it ourselves. Foreign powers including the UN will not intervene, their silence, inaction and welcoming the Indian terrorist regime into the UN inner circle is evidence of their consent. This week: 1. Delhi Police disrupted the pre-agreed Tractor Rally by blocking agreed routes and then attacked protesting citizens with tear gas, lathis and on at least two occasions with bullets to try and cause riots to provoke violence from peaceful protesters, this largely failed. 2. The Godi Media then selectively used video footage to misrepresent facts and label protesters as the cause of confrontation to malign the cause and minorities. 3. BJP and Police then transported in thugs from across the state to camps at Singhu and Tikri border where there were only largely old Sikh men and women and defenceless sewadars after most jawan protesters returned to their villages to tend to their domestic responsibilities following the tractor rally on the 26th Jan. These thugs and police began throwing stones at men, women and children and tearing down tents with elderly resting inside to try and provoke a blood bath. When the protesting citizens showed constraint in the hope the some among the police would do their duty and protect them, the police did nothing of the sort, on contrary the police and the BJP thugs turned even more violent and began attacking protesters indiscriminately. When a few jawans tried in vain to protect themselves and others, they were mercilessly beaten by the police and BJP thugs. The Godi media although present and capturing these scenes, gave another narrative; that these were "locals” and the police were trying their best to maintain order but were overwhelmed mostly by the violent protesters", the lies are ghastly and embarrassing since the truth is quickly discovered by images widely available on the net and social media. Not one of the thugs perpetrating the violence was arrested – why would they have been the police were complicit afterall. Not one comment of condemnation from the government, not one comment of concern from police leaders, again why would they organised it. When the victims have gone to the police or CBI to submit complaints they have been given the cold shoulder or ridiculed, when family member have asked for updates on the hundreds of Sikh protesters that were arrested; some of who were badly beaten – they get nothing but a ‘we don’t know’. There are hundreds of photos and videos of the police and BJP thugs jointly attacking protesters and damaging private property in the public domain, the police are not even attempting to hide their illegal acts against the Sikh minority; who are the real enemies of state and terrorists? Where is the humanity of those in power and police leaders? There have been a few isolated videos captured of policemen saying they are just doing their duty by following orders, but I’m sorry you are doing anything but your duty. You are breaking the law, desecrating the Indian constitution and most basic of human rights. 4. Punjab Police is co-operating with Delhi Police forces despatched to Punjab to intimidate and arrest Punjabi citizens that have demonstrated their constitutional right to protest. At the same time Captain Amrinder Singh puts out statements that he supports the farmers, yet then instructs his Police force to support the BJP despatched Delhi Police to in their attempt to spread fear amongst Punjabi farmers. 5. On 29th Jan Delhi Police and BJP thugs protested outside the Sri Sis Ganj Gurdwara in Delhi, what has the gurdwara goers here got to do with the protest other than sharing same faith, this is evidence of racism on part of the police and BJP. That aside the Gurdwara is built on the site where Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was beheaded to protect the Hindu faith from conversion by Mughals, the BJP respect nothing and nobody. This is not the first gurdwara to be attacked by fascist factions of the majority community. Gurdwara Gian Godri in Haridwar, Gurdwara Mangu Mutt in Puri and Gurdwara Dangmar in Sikkim are Gurdware associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji that have been attacked or demolished by Indian Facists, we cannot and should not expect anybody but ourselves to protect ourselves. The response from the Sikh leadership to these attacks were nothing but a few words in the media or despatching representatives to the sites to write reports or appeal for better treatment. We Sikhs are loyal subjects of India; we gave more blood than anyone to create this great nation and continue to do so at the borders. Our Gurughars as are our hearts are open to everybody, feeding the world is one of our key missions in life, and still you treat us worse then you treat stray dogs. But we are not cowards and we know how to defend the weak, our Gurus and great leaders of years gone by have given us lessons on what to do when a great tyranny bears down on the poor and meek. Our gurus gave us the two swords of Miri and Piri to defend the rights of the downtrodden and to fight evil. Our 1st Patshah taught us all humans are equal in the eyes of our lord, the 5th Patshah gave us unwavering strength in the face of great oppression and the gift of martyrdom, the 6th Patshah the malik of the two swords of Miri and Piri taught us self-defence and bestowed upon every peasant sovereignty so that we never accept the dictates of barbaric regimes such as the current one, they also gave us the Akal Takht, a temporal high seat for Sikhs to organise ourselves under as a nation, the 9th Patshah taught us to sacrifice our heads for others rights, our Dasam Patshah taught each of us to stand and fight to the last man even if there 125,000 blood thirsty terrorists ahead of each of us. Unfortunately, in modern times the so-called leaders of our great institutions of the Khalsa have become subservient to their political paymasters, the paymasters who appoint and brush aside leaders of Sikh sansthas at will. But now in the face of great tyranny the Khalsa must awaken and show our Guru we are alive, breathing and not forgotten their lessons. The Badal Dal appointed Mukh Sewadar of the Akal Takht now has the opportunity to legitimise his claim as Jathedar of the Akal Takht, that seat that belonged to great Sikhs and generals such as Baba Deep Singh and Akali Phulla Singh, he must do as they would and give a direct response to the darkness of this regime. A meek statement here or there will not cut it. Your Mandate: As an urgent and temporary response the Guru Roop Khalsa demand you to assemble and employ a temporary security force of 2000 saint soldiers and deploy them to defend the honour of our quam by guarding the protest camps from further attacks and atrocities at the hands of the Delhi hakumat. Further to this we mandate you to institute a 500 strong full-time employed security/relief force to work under instruction of Akal Takht to stand in defiance to any future acts of terror, to provide relief in events of natural disasters, to the poor and downtrodden across the nation and protect Gurughars from attack, after all this is part of the Khalsa mission. At the moment you are doing nothing to justify your seat at the Great Akal Takht; as said before half-hearted comments you are making are not enough, you have access to all the power and resources of the Khalsa Panth; use them to protect and progress the Sikh Mission. The Akal Takht relief/security force (ATSRF) must be physically and mentally strong, live and breathe gurmat and be both elite men and women recruited from across the globe. These warriors must be organised into specialist disciplines as any elite security force would i.e. engineer, medics, cooks, martial arts, logistics, IT, strategy and conflict management etc and be educated at the best training centres in the world. The Akal Takht SRF must be humble, disciplined Gursikhs that have no ambitions for power or to increase personal property but only but only to serve the Gurus mission, a charter would be written for the SRF to live and adhere to. Sikhs from across the world will aspire to join this security force; only then will we get back on the road to producing the next Akali Phulla Singh. There will be 500 paid specialists and no doubt lakhs will volunteer to support. The inception of the Akal Takht security/relief force is not an act of provocation or challenge to the central government for power; all power belongs to Akal Purakh. ATSRF’s mission would be that mandated by Guru Nanak Dev Ji; feed the hungry, defend the downtrodden. It will be a thorn in the side of a tyrant and an asset to any just and progressive regime We have been betrayed far too often by the central government, its police, its army and by our own leaders. Yet you keep making limp appeals pleading for the government to reason. No more! Lions do not beg! Act on this instruction or move aside for another more worthy to initiate this mandate – remember the Akal Takht does not answer to the SGPC cronies or Badal Dal, Akal Takht is only answerable to Akal Purakh and SGGSJI following which the Guru Roop Khalsa Panth. Benti to all Sikhs please support this petition as a declaration of your will, no honest Sikh will ever see this mandate anything other than an attempt to promote the Sikh mission, we have been left with no alternative. 15. It's not our country, bro. Their leaders don't recognise our Guru Sahibs as an authority. The Akal Takhat is not a Vatican-esque state within a country. You know that.

  16. Guru sahabian sanctioned alot of things that Sikhs are not implementing these days, carrying weapons is also mandatory to fight tyranny and oppressors but in today's world anyone who does is easily labeled a terrorist even if he fighting the overwhelming overt terrorism of the powerful state. Also there is a reason Akal takht hasn't created a force already. You got to remember the last time this was tried was in 1980s and the akal takht was attacked and destroyed the indian regime blamed it for darbar sahib having "anti-nationals" so called "khalistani's" sheltering there. The chess pieces were put in place so that akal takht would be attacked no matter who was there, they just needed their useful pawns in place. 1840s was the last time the Khalsa were an effective fighting force and the british invaders attacked the akal takht to silence and subdue Sikh political and military force for once and for all. Sri Akal takht sahib the sovereign sikh parliament and political voice of the Sikhs, was the real target in 1984 this is why thatchers and indira's governments colluded that time. It was not to get sant bhindranwale or other armed defenders of darbar sahib, exactly because of this reason it was attacked with tanks and destroyed rather than block it off and just have regular police bring a seige to end issue peacefully. The operation blue star attack was to send a message to the Sikh community worldwide that RSS hindu extremists within Indian establishment controls everything within its borders including Sikh religious and political institutions. Anyone daring to setup outside its authority or question hindu castist supreme authority would get dealt with by genocide and indian state terrorism. Therefore creating such a force even for defence and protection would in all probability invite an indian state terrorist attack from new delhi along with huge propaganda campaign against Sikhs in india is being naive at best. The hindus have their religious protection forces such as RSS along with offshoot groups like kranti sena, ram sena, shiv sena, bajrang dal, bheem sena, etc. Who can easily have access to modern arms via the indian army and police. Also they have their members embed in these institutions so they have all the advantage against minorities. Creating such a Sikh defence force will need to be thought through very carefully and get political backing from the western governments and within punjab. This will require intelligent lobbying by high IQ well respected Sikh leaders basing it on facts of how indian state terrorism has effected Sikhs since 1947 and currently they are not being protected by institutions of the state in a so called democracy.

  17. It is sanctioned and expected by our guru sahiban, our history is quite clear on this. If we dont believe this it is a shame on us. When u say unsactioned whose blessing are u expecting/seeking? The authority bestowed on the Akal Takht isn't for debate, it isn't being utilised.. We are under attack already, how much weaker do we want to get before regrouping? A counter proposal would be nice?
    1 point
  18. Not knocking the initiative, but the creation of an unsanctioned armed religious force (call it security, whatever) within the borders of a hostile host nation is impossible. The Akal Takhat has neither the power nor the will to do it, and India would view it as a 5th column entity that must be destroyed before any potential uprising can be organised.

  19. I think your misunderstanding, the point of the petition is to create awareness amongst Sikhs on the streets. If we don't publicly debate these suggestions how are the guys at the bottom going to know what solution to rally behind. No one here is naive enough to think it will spark the conscience of the fake leadership into action. The suggestion above is one people from all political backgrounds can support, if im wrong please offer your scrutiny, its all i ask ??

  23. There are other Sikh charities such as Sikh Relief, British Sikh Council, Sikhs helping Sikhs etc. But Khalsa Aid has a well oiled publicity machine and Ravi Singh sits on top the organisation like a typical Gurdwara pardhan who closes his ears to any attempt by others to give him advice. He even has his minions trying to get him a Nobel prize. I have donated to these charities and I can proudly say that I have not donated one penny to Khalsa Aid. Ravi Singh is sitting on about 2 Million pounds in the bank while Sikh farmers are committing suicide over a few thousand pounds of debt. That is a damning indictment of him.
    1 point
  24. Khalsa Aid spends about 20% of its aid in India out of which probably half of this could be in Punjab. That means that 90% of the aid gathered by them mainly from Sikhs goes to non-Sikhs. So much for your 'grand job'. During the Rohingya crisis, KA probably spent tens of thousands of pounds on aid to the Rohingyas. The US govt gave over $350M to the Rohingyas, UK about half that. All in all the Rohingyas probably got close to $750M just from the west. Islamic countries like Turkey, UAE etc gave lots of aid as well. Now my question to you... using the Sakhi of Sacha Sauda or Bhai Kanhaiya or any other Sakhi can you justify these actions of Khalsa Aid. Isn't is just plain stupidity and bloody mindedness of Ravi Singh to be wasting tens of thousands of pound of aid which could be used to help poor Sikhs in Punjab and giving these to Rohingyas who were already receiving millions in aid? Recognising the whole of humanity as one does not entail being a fool and being so blinkered that you do you see your own in need.

  25. It's impossible engaging with people who possess his type of mentality. You're more likely to get something out of an exchange with a brick wall. There is no chance of any form of contemplation on their part that they MAY perhaps need to reassess the beliefs and opinions they hold so dear. To consider such a thought is tantamount to succumbing to devilry, lol. I wouldn't give a 5hit normally, but he's considered to be somewhat emblematic of western Sikhs and our beliefs, but he doesn't speak for me and he never will.

  26. Was the guru talking to his few thousand Sikhs around during their human form? Or all people of all backgrounds that they could get message to? (A la the Udasis to Europe, far East, middle east, South etc) Was guru jis message only for sikhs to apply to Sikhs? To answer ur question; no i am not saying "You're saying that the 25 million Sikhs should spend their money trying to take care of 7 billion non-Sikhs?". Contrary to popular belief amongst people on this thread, KA has hundreds of volunteers in India and more specifically many working in punjab amongst other states. However, those not satisfied can set something up to do what should be done. There are plenty Sikhs will that will financially contribute. Thankfully Sikhs should and do set an example when it comes to humanitarian relief for the whole world to follow. One day Khalsa will Raj and the 3.5b well off will support the 3.5b poor. Until then keep the faith and support the few doers we do have in our panth. Thats me out. Fateh

  27. not true , he did work and also kehti to feed his family and deal with his responsibilities first not just up and sell everything and gave it away . Same with all Nanaks they did kirit di kamai for family, and used daswand for langar etc . Anyone ever think on Guru Pita ji's words to Bhai Kanhaiya ji ? he stated that once an enemy has been incapitated by our hand that person once again becomes a brother and so it is our duty to look after them . He also gave specific instructions to increase love and protection for our sikh bretheren , to never knowlingly allow a sikh to go hungry , stay in distress if we have the means to help. But forget that let's just ignore the primary duty because it doesn't create column inches of promo in MSM I prefer the United sikhs model they arrived started sewa of langar for truly distressed people then encouraged the local muslims and authorities to partner up and help with this work .The muslims have oil wealth, land, many countries of their own with all the resources, they also have a mandate to help people of their umma and yet it serves their political will to get us to do their work for them . Be smart , start the langars and then get them to invest in continuing the aid . Guru Nanak Dev ji wanted all faiths to do this langar sewa and to take on the values of sikhi , not burden us with it all : the responsibilities of the masses without the resources .

  28. OK, thanks for answering honestly, at least that you spend your grocery money on your kids. What people opposing Ravi Singh are saying is that he should do this on a large-scale basis (spend Panth's money on Panth's kids). Just to clarify: You're saying that the 25 million Sikhs should spend their money trying to take care of 7 billion non-Sikhs? So every Sikh has to support 280 non-Sikhs. That's a pretty tall order.

  30. I see you are taking it personally, please do not. I am a firm believer that charity begins at home. I help myself and my family first. I have donated to Pingalwara orphanage, and helped my poor relatives in Punjab, just like my parents have. Khalsa Aids priorities are not with the particular subsection of humanity called Sikhs. That is what a lot of the quam are critiquing. That is the perception. What a proportion of the quam is trying to say to Khalsa Aid, is help your own people first then help others. I am saying is if Khalsa Aid is not doing it, there are opportunities for other Sikhs to fill that gap.

  32. maybe you need to read more hukams as there is a duty to ensure we help poor sikhs and its stated explicitly e.g. marrying a poor family's daughter without demands , if we see a sikh brither/sister struggling to go to their aid, logically speaking when we act cohesively we can protect the group/kaum better. It's very much the rule in nature . If we are only as strong as our weakest links then we need to bring everybody upwards spiritually , and worldly , otherwise we will be ignoring Guru ji's hukam to treat everyone as brothers and sisters and failing to remove caste prejudices and monetary/career barriers to ensure those from the 'lowest' jaat are truly respected as much as those from advantaged start points e.g. the situations in Shillong and in MP with the sikhligars would never have occurred in the time of the Gurus because the sikhs had each others' backs

Further on it all goes internal and you start simran with your surti. It goes inwards and upwards. You go into a state of total stillness. You can remain like this for ages and you feel this total stillness and calmness. Then you wait for Guru Ji to appear. This is up to them when they do, you have no control on this. You wait in naam for your Guru. Total blissness anf calmness, this is the route. I am sceptical of all this rolling around and screaming. Whether they are gaining any benefit or not I cannot say, I will not speak ill of them but personally I would avoid them.

  42. On the 8th August 1922, during the British Raj in India, the police arrested five Singhs for cutting Acacia wood for Guru-Ka-Langar (free community kitchen) from uncultivated land attached to Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh, Sri Anandpur Sahib. Under the British Raj law, everyone was sentenced to a fine of fifty rupees and imprisoned for six months on the charge of stealing wood from the land of the Hindu Mahants, who had taken management and control of the Sikh Gurdwara from the time when the Sikhs had fled to the jungles during the barbaric rule of the Mughals. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee started an agitation against the decision of the Government. It was Gurdwara land and Sikhs had the right to cut down wood from it for Langar. The additional police superintendent started beating the Sikh protestors with clubs. On the 13th September 1922, the beatings and abuse were stopped, with the help of Reverend C.F. Andrews and after a number of Singhs were arrested and sent to prisons. One day a squad of army pensioners led by Subedar Amar Singh Dhaliwal from Kapurthala district courted arrest. Magistrate Aslam Khan sentenced those Singhs to imprisonment of two and a half years and fined them each one hundred rupees. Those Singhs were boarded on a train from Amritsar to Attak on the night of the 29th October 1922. The train stopped at Rawalpindi on 30th October and moved on after a change of train staff and fueling up of the train with water. That day, the Sikh Sangat of Gurdwara Panja Sahib prepared to do sewa of the Jatha of Singhs who were held as prisoners on the train. They prepared Langar and planned to serve food and drink to the prisoners. On the morning of 31st October, the Sikh Sangat took the Langar to the railway station and stood waiting for the train to arrive. The station master at Panja Sahib announced to the Sikh Sangat waiting to serve Langar to Singhs on the train, "The train shall not stop at this station. You have made these arrangements for nothing." Bhai Karam Singh Ji replied, "Baba Nanak had stopped a mountain with one hand. Can his Sikhs not stop a train?" At ten o'clock, seeing the train approaching, Bhai Karam Singh Ji lay down on the railway line. Bhai Partap Singh Ji joined him alongside Bhai Ganga Singh, Bhai Charan Singh, Bhai Nihal Singh, Bhai Tara Singh, Bhai Fakir Singh, Bhai Kalyan Singh as well as many other Singhs and Singhnian who squatted on the track. Seeing the Gursikhs laying down on the track, the train driver blew the whistle time and again but the Gursikhs did not falter or budge as if they had not heard the whistle at all. "Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru…" (Wondrous Lord…) could be heard repeated vibrating in the air. The train engine crushed the bones of Bhai Karam Singh Ji and Bhai Partap Singh Ji and the other Gursikhs suffered injuries. The train had stopped! Bhai Partap Singh Ji told the Sangat trying to tend his injuries, "Serve Langar to the hungry Singhs on the train first. You can take care of us afterwards." The train halted for one and a half hours. The Sangat of Panja Sahib served the Singhs on the train wholeheartedly and then turned to the injured. Bhai Karam Singh Ji, thirty year old son of Bhai Bhagwan Daas Mahant of Sri Kesgarh Sahib died after a few hours. On the next day Bhai Partap Singh Ji, twenty-four years of age, son of Bhai Saroop Singh, a goldsmith of Akaal Garh, Gujranwala, attained shaheedi (martyrdom). Before attaining shaheedi he recited the Salokh (on ang 1365 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji): And he instructed his 18 years old wife to never cry over his death otherwise his sacrifice would be wasted. It is said Mata Ji, wife of Shaheed Partap Singh Ji, never cried her whole live and bravely recited Gaddi the Chhand, poetry, written in honour of these great Train Shaheeds and was also engrossed in 'Naam Simran'.
