  1. Please avoid this, you’ll bump into judgemental types who push you away from Sikhi. Hanji go to the gurdwara and pray in front of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, that Guru Sahib ji please help me. Understand this much, your soul won’t find peace anywhere else. There is no other than Satguru ji who can liberate your soul. Then take a seat in the sangat and reflect. Forget the situation for a moment. Vaheguru ji made his decision he would like to pull you back to him forever and for this purpose he arranged you have this mortal body and meet Satguru ji. It’s never too late, don’t feel bad about anything. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are the living guru. Daas would advise to start a sahej paath, where you read the entire Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It’s fine to use an app on your phone or online. Start with read 1 ang per day, but read translation too. This establishes your continuous daily conversation with Guru Sahib Ji. It will make a huge difference to your life. Personal experience daas would even call it magic. Whatever question or problems I have always seems to if by magic those answers come up in sahej paath. Then Mool Mantar, simran, seva, read history of Sikhi etc. @SikhInTheMakingji can give you practical tips because he got through this, just like you will too The punishment for drinking alcohol is molten metal poured down your throat in afterlife. Not to mention other hells your soul passes through. Why you want to drink that poison for? Make a RULE. If alcohol comes into your hand, without thinking pour it down the sink immediately! The best thing you could drink as a mortal on earth is beautiful and sweet Khande di phaul prepared by Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji. Guru sahib ji tells us Singh panchan main hamro vasa. Work towards taking amrit di daat.

Some of these guys are extremely rude, aggressive and full of rage when you critique their work, they are full of ego and won't think twice of getting violent. They are like those comical bad guys from an awful Punjabi movie. They are all nicey nice when trying to get the contract but can flip out afterwards.

Dearest sweet humble Muslim Neighbour, I trust this finds you well and are safe during the world pandemic. just a thought, as we live in present time not 1400 yrs ago and new types of crimes occur and illegal activities occur plus other debatable issues in the umma (like white wine vinegar and beer batter that my Muslims friends hold different views on) where does the laws come for these types of crimes in your Islamic states etc. Are they from God/Qu’ran or does your scholars make decisions on these and some scholars can’t even agree on the same issue and give different advice outcome on the same issue. Just a thought though no biggie. Wu-tang is for the children

  12. There is no moral high ground whether or not you believe in capital punishment. The point people like to make is "well what if you kill the guy and you find out later he was innocent?". Fine, point taken, but what would you do with a man who is caught on camera with dna evidence brutally raping and killing a child? Rehabilitation? Don't think so, cut off his head i say. Sikh history has shown in extreme cases capital punishment has been permitted. As time goes on, all societies mature. They look at different ways of not only studying and rehabilitating the crimes as criminals, but also better prevention methods and laws to prevent crimes from happening in the first place. And as such, the scope for capital punishment gets smaller (which is what we should all be aiming for). But make no mistake, there are those small number of people who, no matter what happens, they will just never learn. And for them, death is the only antidote.

  13. The exact same crime is not the same in all circumstances. It's like the old anecdote of a man who steals a loaf of bread to feed his family. Do you let him go because he's trying to feed his family, or punish for being a theif (so to speak)? And if you do give him a punishment, will you be lenient? And if so, how lenient? It becomes a complex issue, as I'm sure you can appreciate. In terms of the Panj Pyare, they will derive their punishment based on the circumstances and nature of the crime. For example, cold blood murder punished by death, but killing in self defence may result in being let off (just an arbitrary example).

  14. The concept of the crimes being wrong are there (mentioning that they are wrong and punishable in God's court). However, there is no prescribed worldly punishment in the specific sense. In Sikhi, that authority is given to the Panj Pyare, 5 highly spiritual Gursikhs who represent the Guru himself, and it is they who will mett out the appropriate punishment for the crime.

  15. Well, the Sikhs did actually have a Raj under Maharaja Ranjit Singh for a period of 40 years. In terms of the rules/laws, they would come from the Guru's baani (being the supreme authority), and the various rehitnamas and historical works etc.

  16. The concept of this is best summed up here: ਧਨ ਪਿਰੁ ਏਹਿ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਨਿ ਬਹਨਿ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੁਇ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਧਨ ਪਿਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਸੋਇ ॥: Dhan pir(u) aaheeani bahani ikathae hoi. Ek joti dui mooratee dhan pir(u) kaheeai soi: Wife and husband are not they who pose as one whole; wife and husband are they who are two bodies with one soul (sggs 788). So to put it logically, marriage can only occur between husband and wife (man and woman). And, there is no physical relationship outside of marriage. Which would make gay marriage/relationship etc. impermissible. In terms of punishment, what I mean by that is that the punishment is God's to give. So, we don't go round on a witch hunt and kill people for being gay, which is the case in some countries. It's a fine line to tread, but there you go ?? Edit: what was the point of down voting this man's post? He was just asking a question.

  17. Sikhi (much like the other mainstream beliefs of the India subcontinent) is unequivocally against homosexuality. There is no room for a same gender Anand Karaj in Sikhi. Let me be clear though; if an individual is gay, but they do not engage in any form of same gender relations (because they know it's wrong), then that's ok. You can't help who you're attracted to (though there's room for debate there), however you can choose whether to act on it or not. If a guy individual chooses to remain celibate and serve mankind, then all good. Unlike other belief systems though, Sikhi does not advocate giving out punishments for someone who is gay.

These were three lads who are yet to be identified and were killed by someone either drugged up/drunk or doing drug trade , as the eyewitnesses only mentioned one guy who seemed drunk. Personally I reckon it is paki drug pedallers in the neighbourhood , only a few minutes away from my door . 39. ^ Every single thing you said there, ajeet ram gujarati, summarises everything that the Indians planned to make of the Sikhs. i.e...a community so subdued, so tortured, so enslaved, that they were no longer physically or mentally capable of freeing themselves. Look at your last sentence for example. Outside of India, even children under the age of 7 are aware of Nehrus public promises of autonomy to the Sikhs.....made after Jinnah made great promises. And yet you, displaying the intellect of a doormouse, say "if at all promised". :stupidme: Having read your comments on various threads do you honestly believe any Sikh in the free world would believe that you are a Sikh ? ...or if you indeed are, accept you as one ? You've got Hindu pretending to be a Sikh on the internet written all over you fella. International human rights organisations estimate that up to half a million Sikhs have been murdered by India. And yet you describe this as a 'happy and prosperous life' for Sikhs in India' ? What are you on fella. What are you on. :blink2: The best and most knowledgable minds brutally killed. The ones left alive left with the knowledge that even speaking about freedom will bring either death or torture. Most of the other conscious ones either escaped the hell-hole that is India or desperate to do so. So what are you left with ? You, my friend. The likes of you. A fella that has sat and watched as every single other major religion in the world has fought tooth and nail to achieve their own homeland where their people and faith can prosper.........And yet you have come to a totally different conclusion regarding us Sikhs. Strange fruit. Anyway, remind me again geezer, what exactly is so wonderful and prosperous about Sikh reality in India ? Lets just take this year so far in your beloved India as an example; This year alone amritdhari sikhs have been banned from working at Amritsar airport (even though London and Toronto airports seem to have no problem with it).............amritdhari sikhs have been banned from schools(even though schools in the west have no problem with it)..........they've been regularly hanging Sikhs whilst rewarding the killers of sikhs........the homeland of the sikhs has become the wasteland of drugs and alcohol (echoes of Iran here where it is well known why the authorities tolerate the truly massive rate of heroin and opium addiction there.......i.e to keep the poor masses too subdued to rise up)..........a homeland (punjab) that has slipped from being the richest state to number 6 on the national list, and slipping further down each year..........a nation where the sikh is the national joke....... portrayed in popular media as nothing more than a clown. Remind us again, Ajeet Kumar Gupta.............Remind us again what is so wonderful and prosperous about being the only major religion on earth without a nation of their own ?

  40. What muppets are you referring to ? And I don't know if u should be so glad of the fact that the British treated us so good. Some ppl like the Hindus like to point out that the British treated us special because they wanted to divide the Indians and wanted the military power on their side. So that's why when the Sepoy Mutiny happened, the British used Sikh ppl to put it down and they say only Muslims and Hindus were doing the Mutiny. And that the British could have been ousted but because of the Sikhs they weren't. I mean how great is it if the British treated us good? It was our raaj they got and they wanted to keep rebellion down. Also heard that because the British wanted to tame the warrior spirit in sikhs they did some malavat in Dasam Granth or tried to and they banned So Sakhi. (The author of a translation of So Sakhi, we have at home, says he did the translation hidden in a mosque.) And we lost the true art of Shaster Vidya cause of British ppl cause they banned it after they Anglo-Sikh wars. And then as ever they used their cunning and won the Sikh ppl over to their side to fight wars. Yeah we got a lot of good things cause of them, but still we shouldn't be proud of the fact that they made us slaves and treated us good.

  43. No, I think that it's both free will and destiny. Our past karm determines some things like situation and circumstance like if we're born rich, poor, disabled, orphans etc (the things we have no control over) but we get to decide how we will act in these situations/circumstances. Who we will marry, the children, education, income I think is also destiny. But we can choose other actions. I heard that 65% of our life is predetermined and 35% is our choice. So basically you land in a predetermined situation and the way you act, respond to it determines if you win or lose. Like a test, the teacher chooses the questions, you choose the answers.

  47. Singh# I disagree. Udham Singh was a Sikh freedom fighter, he wasn't to know what treacherous behaviour was to take place in the future. He avenged Jallianwala Bagh and showed the goray that they couldn't just do that and get away scot free. Look at how today, so many people bowl around who have butchured Sikhs. If there were more Sikhs like Udham Singh this sh1te wouldn't happen. Bhagat Singh was not a Sikh feedom fighter by most accounts (except Bhai Randhir Singh's). He was a Marxist from a Sikh background.

  48. Most likely he didn't which is why he is not mentioned. So we agree then that there were not 12 Sikhs. So using Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaar doesn't prove anything. Rai Bular is an equally important Sikh who is not mentioned. Bhai Lalo Ji is mentioned in Gurbani but not in Vaars. Is Bibi Nanaki, the first Sikh, mentioned in Vaars? Bhai Sahib's purpose was to show the greatness of Guru Sahib not to record every life incident. Purpose of Vaars was to show that Guru Sahib is the greatest and everyone all over the world bowed to Him. Bhai Behlo Ji, contemporary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, mentions Bhai Bala Ji in his granth named Soochak Parsang Guru Ka. Was there any other Sikh who was more qualified to narrate the sakhis? Janam Sakhi might have been compiled by collecting sakhis from different Sikhs. Many sources claim that a Janamsakhi was written. It doesn't mean we have the same janamsakhi today. We don't have the original Damdami Bir but no one says that such was never written or Guru Gobind Singh Ji never existed. I would like to know which source is the above based on? Bhai Bala Janamsakhi or any other Janamsakhi? Because all Janamsakhis vary and have different sakhis. Hafzabad and Puratan Janamsakhi also vary. Bhai Bala Janamsakhi has many errors and we may reject it but it doesn't, however, disprove the existence of Bhai Bala Ji. Since some sources claim that such Janamsakhi was written it is fair to assume that it might have been altered just like many of our other sources. Many Saroops of Guru Sahib have stories, narrations, and pictures of hindu deities but this doesn't prove that Guru Sahib never existed or Guru Granth Sahib is not the True Guru. Sooraj Parkash is not an authentic granth when it comes to determining the correct dates. Bhatt Vahis and many other sources without a doubt point to Kattak Poornma. Bhai Bala Ji's places such as Bala Kot and Bhai Bala Kooh exist today in Pakistan. Bhai Ishar Singh's book (which I have not read fully) is a good source and Dr. Kirpal Singh's article is in "Birtaant of Guru Nanak Dev Ji".
    1 point
  49. Bhai Gurdas Ji only lists 12 names of Sikhs during the time of Guru Nanak Sahib. Rai Bular and Bhai Lalo Ji and many others are not mentioned in Vaars. Should we believe that Guru Sahib only had 12 Sikhs? It is possible that Bhai Bala Ji did not go to Mecca with Guru Sahib and hence was not mentioned in the Vaar. So the argument of using Bhai Gurdas Ji’s Vaars fails. Sources used by Bhai Karam Singh are contradictory. For example, Hafzabad Janamsakhi only has one sakhi of Bhai Mardana Ji at the end and is missing many details. It was written way after Guru Gobind Singh Ji. If we are to hold it 100% accurate then we are left with only one sakhi of Bhai Mardana Ji. The point is, it is missing much more of Guru Sahib’s life. Janamsakhi of Bhai Mani Singh Ji has no sakhi of Sacha Sauda and is mixed with hindu mythology but it does mention a janamsakhi written during the times of Guru Sahib. Most of the janamsakhis referenced by Bhai Karam Singh were written in 19th century except Meharbaan one but it cannot be held authentic. Many sources written before Sooraj Parkash mention Bhai Bala Ji. Mahima Parkash, Bansavalinama, Granth of Bhai Binod Singh, Soochak Parsang Guru Ka by Bhai Behlo Ji, Gurbilas Patshahi 6 and many others not only mention Bhai Bala Ji but also Gurpurab being in Katak. Bhatt Vahis also mention celebrating Gurpurab on "Kartak Poornma". Bhai Bala Janamsakhi is not authentic and has been altered to a great extent but from this it cannot be concluded that Bhai Bala Ji never existed. Otherwise we will have to disregard all of our historic sources and many Puratan Saroops of Guru Sahib. People can read “Vaisakh Nahi Kattak” by Ishar Singh and an article by Dr. Kirpal Singh on Bhai Bala Ji. Both have refuted arguments of Prof. Sahib Singh and Bhai Karam Singh.
