vjkk vjkf! sangat jeeo, im taking amrit soon and i am seriously thinking of the dastaar. But i was going to start with the patka for many reasons. A dastaar carries many responsibilites as in you are now respresenting so you have to be perfect ..kinda. i think i should wait for it maybe a couple of months. but now i was think of the patka becuase it accomplishes keeping your head covered and it would be less of a shock for my family memebers and stuff. My dad is also against dastaar in a way so i thought a patka would like cool him down at first and then slpwly. so my question here is is it okay to wear a patka? any advice ?

WJKK WJKF So i was wondering was it Khalistanis that killed Chamkila? I don't think anyone has been arrested, i don,t even think there was an investigation! but lots of people say it was khalistanis who did it because he used dirty lyrics etc I have nothing against Khalistanis, but if it was them then wasn't the murder outside the realm of religion, politics, Sikhs being suppressed etc Killing a corrupt politician or any man in power who has murdered Sikhs is understandable, but a singer and his wife? ...

GuruFateh to the sangat. I know that this post is long, but it would mean so much to the panjees out there if you take your time to read this. It's a humble request; Please read it. As you all know, there are people in our day-to-day lives who commit immoral deeds. They do such things either to find hilarity for themselves, or to make others happy. For them, all that matters in the end is finding a satisfaction after commiting the deed(s) they wish to accomplish, knowing that they are wrong. When people aren't punished for such sins, the victims are usually left thinking that they deserved the affliction. I would just like to address a matter that I have encounte…

Any guidance in Sikhi about parenting and punishing kids for bad behaviour? How did your parents punish you as child for being bad? Or how do you punish your kids? With strict Punjabi parents, my brother and I always got proper punishments. Normally 5 mins of spanking with a karachi (wooden spoon). Looking back it did hurt but I’m glad my parents did it because it stopped me behaving bad. And I used to behave really bad! My kids are 8 and 11. I know other options available like grounding or banning TV, but sometimes it’s not enough?

Here in the UK, there have been cases where British born non practicing Sikhs have taken the shahada and become practicing Muslims i.e. turned from their parent's religion Sikhi, to Islam. I've noted that in this cases, Gursikhs and Amritdharis find out about the person or are approached by the person's family and turn up to the newly converted person's house to make them see sense / see the light. But this response is reactive rather than pro-active. Person's converted now, heart, mind and soul, bit late for the Singhs to be turning up to the person's house to start their parchaar and try to convince them to turn back to Sikhi (when they were never in it in the first p…

Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh, After doing much itihaas i have found it that the darshan of Sri Dasam and Sarbloh Darbar is of utmost importance for the sake of the chardikala of the Sikh panth alongside Satguru Granth sahib ji maharaj. What can be done in the uk and in sangats across the world to install sri Dasam granth and Sarbloh Granth as seen in Takht Sri Hazoor sahib were the maryada of the tisarpanth seems to be alive and well aswell as shastar darshan. Can those of us that believe this to be an important issue do anything to create change? The majority of non amritdharis seem to think that we only have one granth which sadness me. Our connection to …

Here's a list of media brainwashing, in western countries, to make people aware of it and so wake up (and become immune to it), feel free to add your own observations: 1. to view all women (even young women/girls) as sex objects. from a young age the media tries to put the idea in males heads that any female should be sized up for sexual attractiveness 2. for all women to view themselves are sex objects. girls are taught from a young age that what others think of them and how much attention they get is a 'measure' of their 'worth'. any woman who does not want to put excessive attention into her gender or sexuality is seen as an antisocial freak. e.g. you c…
