What do you make of secret societies like freemasons? Can you be both sikh and freemason? I have heard of many people being initiated and there are historical masonic lodges in Punjab running since East India Company times.

Read an article today about how a young couple decided to abort their child after the 22 week scan because the doctors said the there are strong chances that the baby will have a challenging life because there is something wrong with the babies spine. What would the sikh point of view be on this? In sikhi it is wrong to abort as you are killing an unborn child, in sikhi abortion is considered killing. We also believe that the unborn child is in a meditative state in remembrance of waheguru. But what if you find out that the baby has a serious condition which will give it a very challenging life? Spine related, disability, mentally not well, deformed, not p…

I am 29 and my family is finding an amritdhari girl for me.As all my family members and relatives are non Amritdharis so we hardly know anyone in gursikhi line. we tried giving ads in newspapers almost 10-15 times. We got almost 60+ responses each time I put matrimonial ad, out of which 98 percent phone calls are those who are not amritdharis. Since I always expected an amritdhari and nitnemi girl as my life partner so I only consider those who are blessed with amrit and the remaining 2-3 percent matches are those who don’t have good education or lacking in height. As a result, after 5 months of continue search- I didn’t find any good rishta. Now my parents are suggesting…

My faith is shaken- no matter what I do- seva, paart, nothing goes right. I see people all around me, who haven't got or can't be bothered to make time for waheguru yet they have it all. No worries in their lives. Why is my life filled with them? Abused by my uncle at a young age, I still believed, married into a family who make my life s misery, I still believe, debt up to my ears so that I can give my children what they need, I still believe. When is waheguru going to listen to my pleas? Please tell me that waheguru will support me through this difficult time- don't think I can take much more.

why do such girls, including ones that are in amritdhari families get in relationships, mess around and do everything to dishonour their parents, then leave him by saying "oh no i shouldnt further this as i dont want them to find out because it will dishonour them... then why get in a damn relationship in the first place, why ?? IF your parents were really that important in the first place why mess around with the guy then ?? why use that excuse now, when it couldve been used in the beginning and not get into one ?? So many girls are like this and its really bad. We hear so many stories about how guys are, but this is a reality check on how sikh girls are, and this is …

I'm at the age of marriage now and parents have introduced me to a few Singhs. So far all the ones that I have met, I have to admit I have not found them even remotely attractive. I must sound so superficial but you do have to find your potential partner attractive in order to be with them. As well not finding any of them attractive, I have not really hit it off with any of them either. My parents did show me pictures of a few singhs too and they I did find attractive and agreed to meet. Through the bachole I found out they had asked for a picture of me, so I obliged. Now I am a turban wearing Singhni, never ever did I think that this was going to be an issue for am…

Is this possible or not ? 99 % Amritdhari women are Kurehati's and will never do Pesh in front of Singhs doing Seva of Punj Piyaras. Does it mean they are doomed or can there be an Amtit Sanchar for the women by the women.

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Sangat Ji I’m going through a very weird situation right now with my Guru Ghar, I’ve been taking an interest in a lot of Bani as of late so I’ve been doing my own Khoj of it. I’ve listened to Katha, read Teekas and also did my own interpretations of it (all in line with Gurmat as I take nearly all of it from Taksal). Our Guru Ghar is very nice and the atmosphere is good as well, the people are very friendly too. So I wanted to start doing Katha of the Bani I had learned and the arths of it. Currently there is already a Gursikh doing Katha of another bani but he will most likely need to go do Kaatha elsewhere, so I offe…

Hi apologies in advance for any grammer and typo errors. So i have been married for over 8 years and have 2 children. I don't live with my in-laws as they are in India. i got married in india and my husband joined me in the UK. my parents helped a great deall financially by putting down a deposit for our house and offering financial support as and when they could. they came to visit a few years back and caused so many problems between me and partner whereby they were filling his ears about how much freedom i really should have. I have never disrespected them, i suppose some will say by posting this online i am disrespecting them but i don't know where else to turn. …
